Salp swarm algorithm (SSA) divides the population into leaders and followers, and employs two different search methods to achieve steady convergence. However, the search methods adopted by SSA are relatively simple, hence SSA always trapped by local optima on complex multimodal problems. To improve the exploration of SSA, this paper proposes a multi-food source differential salp swarm algorithm (MFD-SSA) by transferring multi-leader mechanism and differential mutation strategy into SSA. MFD-SSA regards a portion of high fitness individuals as food sources and employ them for updating the position of leaders, the differential evolution mutation and the chaotic crossover are adopted to enhance swarm diversity. Then, the differential mutation and crossover operator are employed for enlarging search range. The MFD-SSA is tested on CEC2017 test suite and compared with five SSA variants and five other meta-heuristics. The test results indicate that MFD-SSA bears strong exploration, it outperforms five SSA variants and five meta-heuristics. On Planetary gear train design problem, MFD-SSA performs better than other five SSA variants too. © 2023 ACM.

Facial expression recognition(FER)remains a hot research area among computer vision researchers and still becomes a challenge because of high intraclass *** techniques for this problem depend on hand-crafted features,namely,LBP,SIFT,and HOG,along with that a classifier trained on a database of videos or *** execute perform well on image datasets captured in a controlled condition;however not perform well in the more challenging dataset,which has partial faces and image ***,many studies presented an endwise structure for facial expression recognition by utilizing DL ***,this study develops an earthworm optimization with an improved SqueezeNet-based FER(EWOISN-FER)*** presented EWOISN-FER model primarily applies the contrast-limited adaptive histogram equalization(CLAHE)technique as a pre-processing *** addition,the improved SqueezeNet model is exploited to derive an optimal set of feature vectors,and the hyperparameter tuning process is performed by the stochastic gradient boosting(SGB)***,EWO with sparse autoencoder(SAE)is employed for the FER process,and the EWO algorithm appropriately chooses the SAE ***-ranging experimental analysis is carried out to examine the performance of the proposed *** experimental outcomes indicate the supremacy of the presented EWOISN-FER technique.

This research introduces a novel dual-pathway convolutional neural network (DP-CNN) architecture tailored for robust performance in Log-Mel spectrogram image analysis derived from raw multichannel electromyography signals. The primary objective is to assess the effectiveness of the proposed DP-CNN architecture across three datasets (NinaPro DB1, DB2, and DB3), encompassing both able-bodied and amputee subjects. Performance metrics, including accuracy, precision, recall, and F1-score, are employed for comprehensive evaluation. The DP-CNN demonstrates notable mean accuracies of 94.93 ± 1.71% and 94.00 ± 3.65% on NinaPro DB1 and DB2 for healthy subjects, respectively. Additionally, it achieves a robust mean classification accuracy of 85.36 ± 0.82% on amputee subjects in DB3, affirming its efficacy. Comparative analysis with previous methodologies on the same datasets reveals substantial improvements of 28.33%, 26.92%, and 39.09% over the baseline for DB1, DB2, and DB3, respectively. The DP-CNN’s superior performance extends to comparisons with transfer learning models for image classification, reaffirming its efficacy. Across diverse datasets involving both able-bodied and amputee subjects, the DP-CNN exhibits enhanced capabilities, holding promise for advancing myoelectric control. © 2024 the Author(s), licensee AIMS Press.

The Internet of Vehicles (IoVs) is widely used to obtain information about vehicles and road conditions, which is transmitted in public channels. Hence, the most important requirement is the data security, which needs to keep in a strict delay. Authentication is a common method to solve it. Due to limited resources and delay sensitivity of IoVs, vehicles must complete authentication within appropriate resources cost and delay. However, existing schemes are prone to physical, forgery and collusion attacks, and moreover, they are computationally heavy. Therefore, we propose a lightweight security identity authentication scheme for vehicle-road collaboration, which utilizes lightweight Physical Unclonable Function (PUF) as the trust root of entities to resist physical and collusion attacks;Besides, most of computation is offloaded to Road Side Units (RSUs) certified by Trusted Authority (TA) through the vehicle-road collaboration architecture. In addition, we utilize challenge-response pairs (CRPs) to protect privacy and expose malicious vehicular identities in identity tracking phase. Furthermore, there are formal and informal security analyses to prove our scheme is secure. Finally, the simulation experiment shows our scheme is more secure and efficient than other schemes in real scenarios. © 2023 IEEE.

The single-pixel imaging technique has garnered widespread attention and research due to its low requirements on detector resolution and equipment cost. In this study, a laser point scanning single-pixel imaging system is constructed. It utilizes a grating installed in front of the detector to capture a single-frame deformed fringe pattern, combining Fourier transform profilometry with three-dimensional phase mapping to ultimately achieve three-dimensional data acquisition. Following the calibration of the system, the positions of each light ray are calibrated using the intrinsic and extrinsic parameters obtained through camera calibration. Consequently, this paper proposes a single-pixel three-dimensional reconstruction method based on three-dimensional phase mapping, establishing a correlation between three-dimensional points and phases to realize three-dimensional phase mapping. Experimental results demonstrate that the model can achieve high reconstruction accuracy, presenting a novel solution for the field of single-pixel three-dimensional reconstruction. © 2024 SPIE.

Nowadays, the technological level of production is an important factor for all areas of modern economic development and life quality improvement. Neither in the informational, nor in the industrial sphere it is possible to produce in-demand, modern, and therefore high-tech and complex products without the establishment of an appropriate system of quality examination at multiple stages of production. This article deals with the problem of forming a comprehensive educational environment with the use of heterogeneous educational resources in the training of specialists in the radiation type of nondestructive testing. The purpose of the research and development is to address the shortcomings of classroom, remote digital learning, and laboratory practice listed in the article by developing a solution based on virtual reality technologies. The purpose stated lies in the pursuit of intensive solutions to the existing problems. Extensive development paths are not effective in improving the efficiency of training and checking students' knowledge in the context of the rapidly growing demand for nondestructive testing specialists. The concept of a digital twin as an educational resource is considered. The structural approach to the formation of complex educational resources both at the level of organization and at the level of digital product is presented. The structure of interrelationships between data in the formation of a digital twin of a radiographic image is presented. The results of the radiographic image simulation and its quality verification are shown. © 2024 IEEE.

A time-synchronized controller is proposed to solve the time-varying constrained reorientation problem. Time-Synchronized Stability (TSS) that considers the interrelationships among different state errors plays an important role in our method, enabling synchronized convergence of individual error components while ensuring compliance with state constraints. Compared to traditional sliding mode controllers, the efficiency of our safety-critical attitude controller is imporoved without adding computational burden, as evidenced by improved control energy consumption and reduced convergence time. A hardware-in-the-loop (HiL) experiment confirms its practical deployment capabilities. © 2024 IEEE.

Three-dimensional (3D) reconstruction based on digital speckle correlation has gained widespread usage in dynamic scenarios due to its ability to achieve single-frame reconstruction. Traditional binocular speckle structured light systems often face challenges such as insufficient surface texture richness and excessive curvature, leading to limitations in the accuracy of corresponding point localization during the matching process. Furthermore, partial point cloud loss caused by varying viewpoints can impact the precision and completeness of 3D reconstruction. This paper introduces a Multiview speckle correlation-based approach for 3D reconstruction. By establishing multi-view stereo camera epipolar rectification, complex speckle matching issues are transformed into one-dimensional searches along unified epipolar lines, simplifying the matching process and enhancing efficiency. Additionally, a digital speckle correlation computational model and subpixel interpolation algorithm based on Newton-Raphson iteration are employed to realize multi-view subpixel-level corresponding point localization. Ultimately, the reconstruction point cloud data is obtained through the intersection of three-ray least squares method. Experimental results demonstrate that this method achieves higher accuracy and better model completeness in 3D data reconstruction. © COPYRIGHT SPIE. Indirect speech acts (ISAs) are a natural pragmatic feature of human communication, allowing requests to be conveyed implicitly while maintaining subtlety and flexibility. Although advancements in speech recognition have enabled natural language interactions with robots through direct, explicit commands - providing clarity in communication - the rise of large language models presents the potential for robots to interpret ISAs. However, empirical evidence on the effects of ISAs on human-robot collaboration (HRC) remains limited. To address this, we conducted a Wizard-of-Oz study (N=36), engaging a participant and a robot in collaborative physical tasks. Our findings indicate that robots capable of understanding ISAs significantly improve human's perceived robot anthropomorphism, team performance, and trust. However, the effectiveness of ISAs is task- and context-dependent, thus requiring careful use. These results highlight the importance of appropriately integrating direct and indirect requests in HRC to enhance collaborative experiences and task performance. © 2025 Copyright held by the owner/author(s).
