We propose a technique based on the natural gradient method for variational lower bound maximization for a variational Bayesian Kalman *** natural gradient approach is applied to the Kullback-Leibler divergence between the parameterized variational distribution and the posterior density of *** a Gaussian assumption for the parametrized variational distribution,we obtain a closed-form iterative procedure for the Kullback-Leibler divergence minimization,producing estimates of the variational hyper-parameters of state estimation and the associated error *** results in both a Doppler radar tracking scenario and a bearing-only tracking scenario are presented,showing that the proposed natural gradient method outperforms existing methods which are based on other linearization techniques in terms of tracking accuracy.

Globally, microgrid-based renewable energy systems are increasingly adopted as part of the transition to sustainable energy sources. However, their intermittent nature and low inertia necessitate energy storage systems to maintain system stability. A highly effective solution involves employing hybrid energy storage systems combining batteries and supercapacitors. This combination leverages the unique characteristics of each component, particularly their energy and power densities, to effectively mitigate fluctuations in the DC-bus voltage under varying power conditions. To address these challenges, this paper proposes a novel energy management system-based hybrid energy storage system and a modified filter-based control technique to enhance the stability of islanded DC microgrids. Further, balance the state of charge of each storage device without breaching the stability state of the system. The effectiveness of the proposed system was validated through various study cases conducted in the MATLAB/SIMULINK environment. Additionally, this paper explores the topology of hybrid battery/supercapacitor systems, the dynamics of pulsed power loads, and the capability of the energy management system (EMS) to manage available resources across different operating modes to minimize their impact on DC-bus voltage stability.

Li-Fi is another term for Visible light communication (VLC) which operates by transmitting data through free space by using either Light Emitting Diodes (LEDs) or Laser Diodes (LDs). The technique finds substantial applications in scientific research as well as military applications when used underwater. VLC technology helps eliminate radio interference alongside providing replacement solutions for traditional underwater communication systems. The research develops and models a visible light wireless communication system through ambient light testing with two 550 nm and 450 nm LD light sources and Pin photodetector over 10 meters using Opti System software. The system uses Non-Return-to-Zero On-Off Keying (NRZ OOK) also known as Amplitude Shift Keying (ASK) modulation through Mach-Zehnder Modulator with WDM technology in NLOS environment. A 10 Gbps data transmission occurs through the clear ocean environment along a 10-meter channel with 0.0405 1/m absorption and 0.0025 1/m scattering. The 550 nm transmitted source emits its maximum Quality factor as 8.35 when BER analyzers operate under ambient light conditions and produce its minimum BER as 4.89e-11 under the same conditions. Examining similar ambient light influences reveals the BER analyzers demonstrate a maximum Quality factor of 8.62 and minimum BER of 18.11e-12 when operating under 450 nm transmitted light. © The Institution of engineering & Technology 2025.

With the continuous growth of the tertiary industry and residential loads,balancing the power supply and consumption during peak demand time has become a critical *** studies try to alleviate peak load by increasing power generation on the supply *** to the short duration of peak load,this may cause redundant installation ***,others attempt to shave peak demand by installing energy storage ***,the aforementioned research did not consider interruptible load regulation when optimizing system *** fact,regulating interruptible load has great potential for reducing system peak *** this paper,an interruptible load scheduling model considering the user subsidy rate is first proposed to reduce system peak load and operational *** model has fully addressed the constraints of minimum daily load reduction and user interruption load *** that,by taking a community in Shanghai as an example,the improved chicken swarm optimization algorithm is applied to solve the interruptible load scheduling ***,the simulation results validate the efficacy of the proposed optimization algorithm and indicate the significant advantages of the proposed model in alleviating the peak load and reducing operational costs.

This paper presents an innovative method for enhancing security improve the security of grayscale images by integrating hybrid cryptographic techniques, specifically taking advantage of the sine map and a dual application of the logistic map. The synergy of these chaotic systems reinforces the encryption process, the sinusoidal card generating pseudo-random sequences essential for the generation of cryptographic keys, and the double logistic card adding complexity and unpredictability. Hybridization exploits their complementary characteristics, contributing to the overall robustness of the encryptions system. The theoretical foundations of the sinusoidal map and the double logistic map are examined, highlighting their suitability for cryptographic applications. A comparative examination with established techniques showcases the effectiveness of the proposed method, both in terms of security and computational efficiency, experimental results showing resilience against various attacks, providing information for practical integration into image security frameworks. © 2024 IEEE.

This work consists of presenting a brief review of the evolution of metallic connection technologies in busbars applied to the front and rear of solar cells, thus demonstrating their fundamentals, materials and essential manufacturing processes that impact on improving the energy efficiency of solar modules. In this brief review, one can follow the technical limitations that led to the evolution of metallic connection technologies in busbars over time and their impacts on the photovoltaic market. Audio-visual aware Foveated Rendering

With the increasing complexity of geometry and rendering effects in virtual reality (VR) scenes, existing foveated rendering methods for VR head-mounted displays (HMDs) struggle to meet users' demands for VR scene rendering with high frame rates (≥ 60 f ps for rendering binocular foveated images in VR scenes containing over 50M triangles). Current research validates that auditory content affects the perception of the human visual system (HVS). However, existing foveated rendering methods primarily model the HVS's eccentricity-dependent visual perception ability on the visual content in VR while ignoring the impact of auditory content on the HVS's visual perception. In this paper, we introduce an auditory-content-based perceived rendering quality analysis to quantify the impact of visual perception under different auditory conditions in foveated rendering. Based on the analysis results, we propose an audio-visual aware foveated rendering method (AvFR). AvFR first constructs an audio-visual feature-driven perception model that predicts the eccentricity-based visual perception in real time by combining the scene's audio-visual content, and then proposes a foveated rendering cost optimization algorithm to adaptively control the shading rate of different regions with the guidance of the perception model. In complex scenes with visual and auditory content containing over 1.17M triangles, AvFR renders high-quality binocular foveated images at an average frame rate of 116 f ps. The results of the main user study and performance evaluation validate that AvFR achieves significant performance improvement (up to 1.4× speedup) without lowering the perceived visual quality compared with the state-of-the-art VR-HMD foveated rendering method. © 1995-2012 IEEE.

Hierarchical networks are frequently encountered in animal groups,gene networks,and artificial engineering systems such as multiple robots,unmanned vehicle systems,smart grids,wind farm networks,and so *** structure of a large directed hierarchical network is often strongly influenced by reverse edges from lower-to higher-level nodes,such as lagging birds’howl in a flock or the opinions of lowerlevel individuals feeding back to higher-level ones in a social *** study reveals that,for most large-scale real hierarchical networks,the majority of the reverse edges do not affect the synchronization process of the entire network;the synchronization process is influenced only by a small part of these reverse edges along specific *** surprisingly,a single effective reverse edge can slow down the synchronization of a huge hierarchical network by over 60%.The effect of such edges depends not on the network size but only on the average in-degree of the involved *** overwhelming majority of active reverse edges turn out to have some kind of“bunching”effect on the information flows of hierarchical networks,which slows down synchronization *** finding refines the current understanding of the role of reverse edges in many natural,social,and engineering hierarchical networks,which might be beneficial for precisely tuning the synchronization rhythms of these *** study also proposes an effective way to attack a hierarchical network by adding a malicious reverse edge to it and provides some guidance for protecting a network by screening out the specific small proportion of vulnerable nodes.
