This study proposes an innovative approach to improve solar cooking systems by combining microcontroller technology and deep-learning techniques. The Solar-PV Microcontroller-based Cooker concept aims to provide a sustainable and eco-friendly cooking method by harnessing the sun's power. This innovative approach addresses global energy conservation and access to clean cooking options, particularly in areas where conventional methods contribute to deforestation and indoor air pollution. The system includes inputs for cooking duration and temperature monitoring, enhancing solar energy efficiency and user experience. The study investigates how deep learning algorithms can be incorporated into the microcontroller-based solar cooker system to enhance functionality and versatility. Cooking settings can be automatically adjusted to maximize energy consumption and cooking results by analyzing real-time data from sensors and human inputs. The hybrid approach combines the best features of deep learning with microcontroller technology, demonstrating the significance of renewable energy in a cleaner, more efficient future. The Solar-Pv cooker demonstrates the possibilities of fusing culinary technology with computer algorithms, showcasing the potential of renewable energy in a cleaner, more efficient future.

Uncalibrated photometric stereo (UPS) is challenging due to the inherent ambiguity brought by the unknown light. Although the ambiguity is alleviated on non-Lambertian objects, the problem is still difficult to solve for more general objects with complex shapes introducing irregular shadows and general materials with complex reflectance like anisotropic reflectance. To exploit cues from shadow and reflectance to solve UPS and improve performance on general materials, we propose DANI-Net, an inverse rendering framework with differentiable shadow handling and anisotropic reflectance modeling. Unlike most previous methods that use non-differentiable shadow maps and assume isotropic material, our network benefits from cues of shadow and anisotropic reflectance through two differentiable paths. An Enhancing Stability Control Strategy of VSG-Based Power Source Under PWM Rectifier Load

Under PWM rectifier load, the power source based on virtual synchronous generator (VSG) is prone to cause mid-frequency oscillation. Firstly, the system oscillation mechanism and characteristic of the VSG-based power source are analyzed based on impedance method. Due to the negative resistance and capacitive characteristic in the middle frequency range, the PWM rectifier load is prone to interact with the VSG-based power source, which can lead to impedance resonance. Secondly, to improve the stability of the VSG-based power source under the PWM rectifier load, a voltage differentiation feedforward control is proposed. In addition, since the mid-frequency impedance magnitude decrease obviously, the improved VSG-based power source is closer to the ideal voltage source, which can automatically suppress the middle harmonics induced by uncontrollable rectifier load. Finally, the proposed control and the corresponding theoretical analysis are verified by simulations and experiments. © 1975-2011 IEEE.

Lightweight and efficient wildlife monitoring algorithms, including pose estimation, that can operate on edge devices with limited computational resources are urgently needed for wildlife studies and protections. To reduce computational costs while maintaining accuracy in animal pose estimation, this paper introduces WildPose, an HRNet-w32 based model, designed, which integrates Efficient Channel Attention (ECA) to enhance important feature representations without complex operations, Non-Local Blocks (NLB) to capture long-range contextual information and handle occlusions, and Depthwise Convolutions (DWConv) to reduce computational complexity and parameters. Additionally, the Online Hard Keypoint Mining with Mean Squared Error (OHKMSE) loss function is employed to improve accuracy for occluded keypoints detection by focusing on harder keypoints. When evaluated on the largest wildlife dataset of Animal Kingdom, WildPose demonstrated a nice trade-off between accuracy and efficiency, 75% reduction in parameters and 65% reduction in GFLOPs, while achieving an increased Percentage of Correct Keypoints (PCK) for occluded keypoints such as the hip, ankle, and tail. Therefore, WildPose can serve as a practical solution for real-time wildlife monitoring and artificial intelligence-based ecological studies, especially in resource-constrained environments.

An elementary proof of the amplitude’s exponential decrease in damped oscillations

A damped oscillation is characterized by the diminishing amplitude of an oscillating system resulting from the dissipation of energy. A crucial example of damped oscillations involves a block of mass attached to the end of a linear spring, experiencing a damping force proportional to the object’s velocity and acting in opposition to the direction of its motion. For small values of the damping constant, the amplitude decreases exponentially over time. Typically, this behavior is introduced at the secondary education level without providing a justification. In this paper, a new approach tailored for the secondary education level is introduced to explain the aforementioned exponential decrease without relying on advanced mathematical tools. In addition, utilizing this analysis simplifies the demonstration of why the exponential decrease in amplitude is applicable only for small damping forces. It is also worth noting that the methods used to derive this result can be applied in various areas, including the derivation of the equation that connects the root mean square value of the AC sinusoidal current to its maximum value. © 2024 IOP Publishing Ltd.

As an affordable and convenient eye scan, fundus photography holds the potential for preventing vision impairment, especially in resource-limited regions. However, fundus image degradation is common under intricate imaging environments, impacting following diagnosis and treatment. Consequently, image quality assessment (IQA) and enhancement (IQE) are essential for ensuring the clinical value and reliability of fundus images. While existing reviews offer some overview of this field, a comprehensive analysis of the interplay between IQA and IQE, along with their clinical deployment challenges, is lacking. This paper addresses this gap by providing a thorough review of fundus IQA and IQE algorithms, research advancements, and practical applications. We outline the fundamentals of the fundus photography imaging system and the associated interferences, and then systematically summarize the paradigms in fundus IQA and IQE. Furthermore, we discuss the practical challenges and solutions in deploying IQA and IQE, as well as offer insights into potential future research directions. Copyright © 2025, The Authors. Fault diagnosis for PV arrays considering dust impact based on transformed graphical feature of characteristic curves and convolutional neural network with CBAM modules

Various faults can occur during the operation of PV arrays, and both the dust-affected operating conditions and various diode configurations make the faults more complicated. However, current methods for fault diagnosis based on I-V characteristic curves only utilize partial feature information and often rely on calibrating the field characteristic curves to standard test conditions (STC). It is difficult to apply it in practice and to accurately identify multiple complex faults with similarities in different blocking diodes configurations of PV arrays under the influence of dust. Therefore, a novel fault diagnosis method for PV arrays considering dust impact is proposed. In the preprocessing stage, the Isc-Voc normalized Gramian angular difference field (GADF) method is presented, which normalizes and transforms the resampled PV array characteristic curves from the field including I-V and P-V to obtain the transformed graphical feature matrices. Then, in the fault diagnosis stage, the model of convolutional neural network (CNN) with convolutional block attention modules (CBAM) is designed to extract fault differentiation information from the transformed graphical matrices containing full feature information and to classify faults. And different graphical feature transformation methods are compared through simulation cases, and different CNN-based classification methods are also analyzed. The results indicate that the developed method for PV arrays with different blocking diodes configurations under various operating conditions has high fault diagnosis accuracy and reliability. Due to its powerful representational capabilities, Transformers have gradually become the mainstream model in the field of machine vision. However, the vast and complex parameters of Transformers impede researchers from gaining a deep understanding of their internal mechanisms, especially error mechanisms. Existing methods for interpreting Transformers mainly focus on understanding them from the perspectives of the importance of input tokens or internal modules, as well as the formation and meaning of features. In contrast, inspired by research on information integration mechanisms and conjunctive errors in the biological visual system, this paper conducts an in-depth exploration of the internal error mechanisms of Transformers. We first propose an information integration hypothesis for Transformers in the machine vision domain and provide substantial experimental evidence to support this hypothesis. This includes the dynamic integration of information among tokens and the static integration of information within tokens in Transformers, as well as the presence of conjunctive errors therein. Addressing these errors, we further propose heuristic dynamic integration constraint methods and rule-based static integration constraint methods to rectify errors and ultimately improve model performance. The entire methodology framework is termed as Transformer Doctor, designed for diagnosing and treating internal errors within transformers. Through a plethora of quantitative and qualitative experiments, it has been demonstrated that Transformer Doctor can effectively address internal errors in transformers, thereby enhancing model performance. In this paper, the distributed time-varying optimization problem is investigated for networked Lagrangian systems with parametric uncertainties. Due to the usage of the signum function in the control torque design, there might exist chattering while implementing the distributed time-varying optimization algorithms for networked Lagrangian agents in the existing works. To this end, we design a distributed optimization algorithm that is capable of generating continuous control torques and achieving exact optimum tracking. A simulation is presented to validate the effectiveness of the proposed algorithm.
