In this paper,we propose a contact-free wheat moisture monitoring system,termed Wi-Wheatþ,to address the several limitations of the existing grain moisture detection technologies,such as time-consuming process,expensive equipment,low accuracy,and difficulty in real-time *** proposed system is based on Commodity WiFi and is easy to *** WiFi CSI data,this paper proposes a feature extraction method based on multi-scale and multi-channel *** feasibility and stability of the system are validated through experiments in both Line-Of-Sight(LOS)and Non-Line-Of-Sight(NLOS)scenarios,where ten types of wheat moisture content are tested using multi-class Support Vector Machine(SVM).Compared with the Wi-Wheat system proposed in our prior work,Wi-Wheatþhas higher efficiency,requiring only a simple training process,and can sense more wheat moisture content levels.

Within the scope of prostate cancer diagnostic imaging, distinguishing lesions is challenging due to their subtle appearance and the prostate gland's complexity. This study employed the nnU-Net, a state-of-the-art medical image segmentation model, on a dataset of 301 patients from 2 openly available datasets to identify whether lesion sizes are affecting the model's performance. By applying t-SNE dimensionality reduction algorithm among dice score and respective lesion sizes, we found that nnU-Net behaves differently for lesions smaller than 9mm compared to lesions larger than 15mm. These insights can inform specialized training approaches for future deep learning models in prostate lesion *** Relevance: The main contributions of this study is, to investigate whether lesion sizes affects nnU-Net's deficiency leading to the development of more specialized models in respect to these factors. © 2023 IEEE.

ChatGPT, an AI-based chatbot, offers coherent and useful replies based on analysis of large volumes of data. In this article, leading academics, scientists, distinguish researchers and engineers discuss the transformative effects of ChatGPT on modern education. This research discusses ChatGPT capabilities and its use in the education sector, identifies potential concerns and challenges. Our preliminary evaluation shows that ChatGPT perform differently in different subject areas including finance, coding, maths, and general public queries. While ChatGPT has the ability to help educators by creating instructional content, offering suggestions and acting as an online educator to learners by answering questions, transforming education through smartphones and IoT gadgets, and promoting group work, there are clear drawbacks in its use, such as the possibility of producing inaccurate or false data and circumventing duplicate content (plagiarism) detectors where originality is essential. The often reported "hallucinations" within GenerativeAI in general, and also relevant for ChatGPT, can render its use of limited benefit where accuracy is essential. What ChatGPT lacks is a stochastic measure to help provide sincere and sensitive communication with its users. Academic regulations and evaluation practices used in educational institutions need to be updated, should ChatGPT be used as a tool in education. To address the transformative effects of ChatGPT on the learning environment, educating teachers and students alike about its capabilities and limitations will be crucial. © 2023 The Authors

The fracture risk of patients with diabetes is higher than those of patients without diabetes due to hyperglycemia,usage of diabetes drugs,changes in insulin levels,and excretion,and this risk begins as early as *** factors including demographic data(such as age,height,weight,and gender),medical history(such as smoking,drinking,and menopause),and examination(such as bone mineral density,blood routine,and urine routine)may be related to bone metabolism in patients with ***,most of the existing methods are qualitative assessments and do not consider the interactions of the physiological factors of *** addition,the fracture risk of patients with diabetes and osteoporosis has not been further studied *** this paper,a hybrid model combining XGBoost with deep neural network is used to predict the fracture risk of patients with diabetes and osteoporosis,and investigate the effect of patients’physiological factors on fracture risk.A total of 147 raw input features are considered in our *** presented model is compared with several benchmarks based on various metrics to prove its ***,the top 18 influencing factors of fracture risks of patients with diabetes are determined.

Ahstract- This paper presents a comprehensive investigation into the stability analysis and design conditions for quantizers to ensure the closed-loop stability of continuous-time linear quantized systems, under the conditions derived by the small-gain theorem. The study begins by deriving explicit bounds on the quantizer parameters required for maintaining system stability. Building on this foundation, an optimal controller is designed using the linear quadratic regulator (LQR) framework, providing an efficient data-driven control strategy. To further enhance the system's performance, an adaptive dynamic programming (ADP) algorithm, referred to as the hybrid iteration (HI) method, is developed. This algorithm effectively learns the optimal control policy by leveraging the trajectories of the quantized states and inputs, thereby addressing the challenges posed by quantization constraints. The proposed HI approach combines the advantages of adaptive learning and optimization, making it well-suited for continuous-time systems with limited information. The simulation results confirm that the ADP approach with the provided conditions not only stabilizes the quantized system but also achieves optimal control performance under the specified quantization conditions. This study offers valuable insights and a robust methodological framework for addressing stability and control challenges, with insights to be expanded to continuous-time nonlinear quantized systems, with potential applications in various engineering domains, such as networked systems, robotics and autonomous systems.

Audio fingerprinting was originally developed for music song identification, and over the years has been used for many more cases. With fingerprinting, an equivalent signature of the audio signal is saved in a simple form, so that it can be easily compared with another fingerprint. In this work, an audio fingerprinting algorithm is developed for the recognition of Greek Orthodox hymns. The main difference between music songs and Greek Orthodox hymns is the absence of music instruments, as there is only the chanter's voice. The test dataset consists of 10 hymns, and for each hymn there are 5 different performances, creating a dataset of 50 performances. Several tunable parameters of the fingerprinting technique are tested, like the parameters of the Hamming window, the frequency spectrum, the sample duration, and the sample noise, to find the differences in Greek Orthodox hymns. The recognition results for all cases are positive. The algorithm, in most cases, had a high recognition rate. even with noisy samples. © 2023 IEEE.

Intelligent physical systems, such as smart vehicles and robotic arms, are increasingly integrated into both industrial and everyday applications. However, the systems typically face hardware limitations that constrain their computational capacities. Digital twin systems offer a solution by creating real-time digital replicas of physical systems that enhance computational efficiency, overcoming physical limitations. Moreover, multiple digital twins that hold complementary knowledge can conveniently collaborate to share information and computational resources, further improving the performance of physical systems by forming an Internet of Digital Twin (IoDT). This paper presents a comprehensive investigation of the digital twin network, tracing the evolution of digital twins and providing a classification of the key technologies, functional frameworks, and application domains of IoDT. This paper delves into the IoDT communication framework by studying the fundamental communication modes of IoDT, exploring its integration with advanced technologies such as edge computing, blockchain, 5G/6G networks, and machine learning to facilitate data transmission, interaction, and omni-directional sensing. By offering a broad perspective, the paper aims to deepen stakeholders' understanding of current research and potential future developments, encouraging further exploration of IoDT technologies and their evolution. © 1998-2012 IEEE.

First-order optimization methods tend to inherently favor certain solutions over others when minimizing a given training objective with multiple local optima. This phenomenon, known as implicit bias, plays a critical role in understanding the generalization capabilities of optimization algorithms. Recent research has revealed that gradient-descent-based methods exhibit an implicit bias for the ℓ2-maximal margin classifier in the context of separable binary classification. In contrast, generic optimization methods, such as mirror descent and steepest descent, have been shown to converge to maximal margin classifiers defined by alternative geometries. However, while gradient-descent-based algorithms demonstrate fast implicit bias rates, the implicit bias rates of generic optimization methods have been relatively slow. To address this limitation, in this paper, we present a series of state-of-the-art implicit bias rates for mirror descent and steepest descent algorithms. Our primary technique involves transforming a generic optimization algorithm into an online learning dynamic that solves a regularized bilinear game, providing a unified framework for analyzing the implicit bias of various optimization methods. The accelerated rates are derived leveraging the regret bounds of online learning algorithms within this game framework.

Digitalization is recognized as a powerful enabler for decarbonizing the building sector. The International Energy Agency has highlighted its potential to improve safety, productivity, accessibility, and sustainability of energy systems. This work aims to present innovative applications of digital twins within the European Project DigiBUILD, focusing on optimizing energy systems for enhanced efficiency and reduced carbon footprint. The architecture of the developed digital twins w detailed, focusing on data collection, services description, and their implementation. Through three detailed case studies, the paper explores real applications of digital twins: the Heron pilot, whose aim is to manage a cluster of buildings and optimally charges electric vehicles to reduce carbon emissions;Veolia, where a district heating networks to optimally manage heat sources in the production plant to reduce gas consumption and emissions;and Emotion, focusing on a building equipped with photovoltaic panels and electric vehicles and implementing services for optimal vehicle charging to maximize self-consumption, in day-ahead scheduling but also in real time. A discussion finally highlights the challenges and limitations encountered in the deployment of digital twins, emphasizing the importance of user interaction in facilitating efficient energy management. This research contributes in underlining the significant potential of digital twins in advancing the digitalization of the energy sector, contributing to the European Union's goals for sustainability and reduced environmental impact. © 2024 IEEE.

Previous research has identified hematoma as the primary cause of mortality and disability in intraventricular hemorrhage (IVH), yet neurologic outcomes post-IVH have not significantly improved following hematoma evacuation. Therefore, utilizing spatial transcriptomics sequencing technology to acquire and analyze IVH data is of significant importance for the early diagnosis and treatment of acute cerebral hemorrhage. However, existing spatial transcriptomics clustering algorithms often overlook local information, fail to integrate multimodal data, and suffer from performance instability. To address these issues, we developed a multimodal spatial transcriptomics clustering algorithm named STARGATE, which initially captures the global spatial topology and local long-sequence gene set features of cells by integrating Graph Convolutional Networks (GCNs) based on self-attention mechanisms and Long Short-Term Memory networks (LSTMs), subsequently fuses gene expression, tissue imagery, morphological, and spatial coordinate features using Gated Recurrent Units (GRUs), and finally enhances the accuracy and robustness of predictions through ensemble learning methods. Our key experimental results include: (1) In clustering experiments on our proprietary mouse IVH spatial transcriptomics dataset, the STARGATE model achieved Adjusted Rand Index (ARI), Normalized Mutual Information (NMI), and Fowlkes-Mallows Index (FMI) scores of 0.80, 0.84, and 0.82, respectively, all superior to classic algorithms such as stLearn and CCST. (2) In clustering experiments on the mouse IVH dataset, the STARGATE model reached an accuracy of 89.63%, with an excellent confusion matrix, demonstrating outstanding accuracy and stability. (3) In clustering experiments on the public dataset DLFPC, which is known for its high data complexity leading to generally lower clustering metrics, the STARGATE model's ARI, NMI, and FMI indicators still outperformed classic algorithms such as SpaGCN and Seurat. © 2024
