The concept of‘Energy Internet’(EI)has been widely accepted by both academic and industry experts after more than a decade of *** it was proposed,EI has been discussed and applied to many technical works in power and energy *** specific definitions were proposed for EI by those who have applied it to respective fields of engineering,but a comprehensive and widely accepted definition of EI is still being *** this paper,we propose the redefinition of EI,based on a comprehensive literature review,some latest trends and driving forces in the global energy industry,as well as its development in the past *** addition,we summarise the EI framework and features for future applications,where EI is categorised by its scale into local‐and wide‐area applications to manifest its effectiveness in power and energy.

Off-road autonomous ground vehicles (AGVs) work in unstructured environments with varied elevation and deformable ground, where vehicle-terrain interactions are more complex resulting in unpredictable dynamics behavior. Current sensor-based hazards/obstacle identification methods mainly focus on geometric hazards/obstacles with explicit geometry, which might be adequate for vehicles in on-road conditions. However, in the off-road environment, vehicle-terrain interactions could introduce non-geometric hazards that cannot be detected by current geometric hazards-oriented sensing techniques, e.g. vehicle stuck in mud. To enable AGVs to traverse the target terrain and meet the goal while avoiding non-geometric hazards, this work proposes a motion planning method integrated with coupled vehicle-terrain dynamics response. Specifically, terramechanics-based modeling and simulation (M&S) is utilized to characterize vehicle-terrain interactions. Based on the dynamics response, a reinforcement learning (RL) algorithm with a specialized reward function is used to navigate the AGV to find the goal with high mobility and safety. We demonstrate the proposed method with two case studies, 1) high mobility is the foremost concern with less safety requirement, and 2) both high mobility and safety are required. The results show that the proposed motion planning method is effective for navigating the AGV in off-road terrains. © 2024 IEEE.

Spiking neural networks (SNNs) have captured apparent interest over the recent years, stemming from neuroscience and reaching the field of artificial intelligence. However, due to their nature SNNs remain far behind in achieving the exceptional performance of deep neural networks (DNNs). As a result, many scholars are exploring ways to enhance SNNs by using learning techniques from DNNs. While this approach has been proven to achieve considerable improvements in SNN performance, we propose another perspective: enhancing the biological plausibility of the models to leverage the advantages of SNNs fully. Our approach aims to propose a brain-like combination of audio-visual signal processing for recognition tasks, intended to succeed in more bio-plausible human-robot interaction applications. © 2024, CC BY-NC-SA.

The recent combination of the rising architectures, known as stacked intelligent metasurface (SIM) and holographic multiple-input multiple-output (HMIMO), drives toward breakthroughs for next-generation wireless communication systems. Given the fact that the number of elements per surface of the SIM is much larger than the base station (BS) antennas, the acquisition of the channel state information (CSI) in SIM-aided multi-user systems is challenging, especially when a line-of-sight (LoS) component is present. Thus, in this letter, we address the channel procedure under conditions of Rician fading by proposing a protocol in terms of a minimum mean square error (MMSE) estimator for wave-based design in a single phase. Moreover, we derive the normalized mean square error (NMSE) of the suggested estimator, and provide the optimal phase shifts minimising the NMSE. Numerical results illustrate the performance of the new channel estimation protocol. © 2025, CC BY.

This paper investigates the consensus tracking problem of leader-follower multi-agent systems. Different from most existing works, dynamics of all the agents are assumed completely unknown, whereas some input-output data about the agents are available. It is well known from the Willems et al. Fundamental Lemma that when inputs of a linear time-invariant (LTI) system are persistently exciting, all possible trajectories of the system can be represented in terms of a finite set of measured input-output data. Building on this idea, the present paper proposes a purely data-driven distributed consensus control policy which allows all the follower agents to track the leader agent’s trajectory. It is shown that for a linear discrete-time multi-agent system, the corresponding controller can be designed to ensure the global synchronization with local data. Even if the data are corrupted by noises, the proposed approach is still applicable under certain conditions. Numerical examples corroborate the practical merits of the theoretical results.

Motivated by the inadequacy of conventional control methods for power networks with a large share of renewable generation, in this paper we study the (stochastic) passivity property of wind turbines based on the Doubly Fed Induction Generator (DFIG). Differently from the majority of the results in the literature, where renewable generation is ignored or assumed to be constant, we model wind power generation as a stochastic process, where wind speed is described by a class of stochastic differential equations. Then, we design a distributed control scheme that achieves load frequency control and economic dispatch, ensuring the stochastic stability of the controlled network. © 2021 EUCA.

Sensor network localization (SNL) is a challenging problem due to its inherent non-convexity and the effects of noise in inter-node ranging measurements and anchor node position. We formulate a non-convex SNL problem as a multi-player non-convex potential game and investigate the existence and uniqueness of a Nash equilibrium (NE) in both the ideal setting without measurement noise and the practical setting with measurement noise. We first show that the NE exists and is unique in the noiseless case, and corresponds to the precise network localization. Then, we study the SNL for the case with errors affecting the anchor node position and the inter-node distance measurements. Specifically, we establish that in case these errors are sufficiently small, the NE exists and is unique. It is shown that the NE is an approximate solution to the SNL problem, and that the position errors can be quantified accordingly. Based on these findings, we apply the results to case studies involving only inter-node distance measurement errors and only anchor position information inaccuracies. Copyright © 2024, The Authors. The high-accuracy drag-free control is one of the key technologies for gravity gradient *** the range of the gravity gradiometer is limited, the measurement is subject to the saturation *** paper introduces a design method of the adaptive drag-free control law by employing the set-valued identification approach. By inserting several thresholds in the constrained interval, the output observation is transformed into the set-valued information under different thresholds, based on which and the weighted optimization technique the identification algorithm for the unknown parameter is constructed. The adaptive drag-free control law is designed via the certainty equivalence principle. It is shown that the identification algorithm is strongly convergent and the convergence rate of the estimation error is obtained. The performance of the closed-loop system is analyzed, and the asymptotic optimality of the adaptive controller is proved. The numerical simulation is included to verify the effectiveness of the main results.

Advanced Air Mobility (AAM) envisages a sustainable, safe, convenient, and affordable air transport system. In socio-technical transition of AAM, there are a number of trade-offs in ecosystem that need to be studied. Three perspectives on economic feasibility are explored: first, based on history of VTOL services and value of time estimates, we discuss whether AAM can provide customers with competitive mobility services; second, what are the stakeholders’ insights on the deployment of AAM; last, the experience in the development of autonomous driving technology, such as parallel intelligence, can inform future AAM research.
