In this paper, we consider the distributed adaptive fault-tolerant output regulation problem for heterogeneous multiagent systems with matched system uncertainties and mismatched coupling uncertainties among subsystems under the influence of actuator faults. First, distributed finite-time observers are proposed for all subsystems to observe the state of the exosystem. Then, a novel fault-tolerant controller is designed to compensate for the influence of matched system uncertainties and actuator faults. By using the linear matrix inequality technique, a sufficient condition is provided to guarantee the solvability of the considered problem in the presence of mismatched coupling uncertainties. Moreover, it is shown that the system in closed-loop with the developed controller can achieve output regulation by using the Lyapunov stability theory and cyclic-small-gain ***, a numerical example is given to illustrate the effectiveness of the obtained result.

This paper proposes a distributed stochastic projection-free algorithm for large-scale constrained finite-sum optimization whose constraint set is complicated such that the projection onto the constraint set can be expensive. The global cost function is allocated to multiple agents, each of which computes its local stochastic gradients and communicates with its neighbors to solve the global problem. Stochastic gradient methods enable low computational cost, while they are hard and slow to converge due to the variance caused by random sampling. To construct a convergent distributed stochastic projection-free algorithm, this paper incorporates a variance reduction technique and gradient tracking technique in the Frank-Wolfe update. We develop a sampling rule for the variance reduction technique to reduce the variance introduced by stochastic gradients. Complete and rigorous proofs show that the proposed distributed projection-free algorithm converges with a sublinear convergence rate and enjoys superior complexity guarantees for both convex and non-convex objective functions. Fluid simulation has been one of the most critical topics in computer graphics for its capacity to produce visually realistic effects. The intricacy of fluid simulation manifests most with interacting dynamic elements. The coupling for such scenarios has always been challenging to manage due to the numerical instability arising from the coupling boundary between different elements. Therefore, we propose an implicit smoothed particle hydrodynamics fluid-elastic coupling approach to reduce the instability issue for fluid-fluid, fluid-elastic, and elastic-elastic coupling circumstances. By deriving the relationship between the universal pressure field with the incompressible attribute of the fluid, we apply the number density scheme to solve the pressure Poisson equation for both fluid and elastic material to avoid the density error for multi-material coupling and conserve the non-penetration condition for elastic objects interacting with fluid particles. Experiments show that our method can effectively handle the multiphase fluids simulation with elastic objects under various physical properties. © 2023 The Authors. computer Animation and Virtual Worlds published by John Wiley & Sons Ltd.

This paper deals with an intelligent decision-making strategy of energy management for a smart grid within an element storage in order to reduce the system cost and improve its reliability. Indeed, the integration of distributed energy storage devices allows the customers to store energy and reuse at a later time or delayed some appliances operation according to a time-varying price signal. The adopted strategy is based on an artificial intelligence control algorithm “fuzzy logic”. The main objective is to determine the appropriate source (grid or battery) used for meeting the consumer. The decision solution shows the system reliability where the switches are synchronized. Switches draw electricity from the grid for both load and battery when price is low and in contrary when electricity price is high, we find a variation's price correspondance with the switch drawing electricity from the battery. The obtained results are verified carrying out Matlab simulation using real data such as the electricity price (Price (t)) and the battery state of charge (SOC (t)).

In this paper we deal with stochastic optimization problems where the data distributions change in response to the decision variables. Traditionally, the study of optimization problems with decision-dependent distributions has assumed either the absence of constraints or fixed constraints. This work considers a more general setting where the constraints can also dynamically adjust in response to changes in the decision variables. Specifically, we consider linear constraints and analyze the effect of decision-dependent distributions in both the objective function and constraints. Firstly, we establish a sufficient condition for the existence of a constrained equilibrium point, at which the distributions remain invariant under retraining. Moreover, we propose and analyze two algorithms: repeated constrained optimization and repeated dual ascent. For each algorithm, we provide sufficient conditions for convergence to the constrained equilibrium point. Furthermore, we explore the relationship between the equilibrium point and the optimal point for the constrained decision-dependent optimization problem. Notably, our results encompass previous findings as special cases when the constraints remain fixed. To show the effectiveness of our theoretical analysis, we provide numerical experiments on both a market problem and a dynamic pricing problem for parking based on real-world data. © 1963-2012 IEEE.

Event-triggered Observability: A Set-membership Perspective

This work attempts to discuss the observability of linear time-invariant systems with event-triggered measurements. A new notion of observability, namely, ǫ-observability is defined with parameter ǫ, which relates to the worst-case performance of inferring the initial state based on not only the received measurement but also the implicit information in the event-triggering conditions at no-event instants. A criterion is developed to test the proposed ǫ-observability of discrete-time linear systems, based on which an iterative event-triggered set-membership observer is designed to evaluate a set containing all possible values of the state. The proposed set-membership observer is designed as the outer approximation of the ellipsoids predicted based on previous state estimates and the ellipsoids inferred by fusing the received measurement and communication conditions, which is optimal in the sense of trace at each step and is proved to be asymptotically bounded. The efficiency of the proposed event-triggered set-membership state observer is verified by numerical experiments. © 2022, CC BY.

This paper presents a haptic device with a simple architecture of only two limbs that can provide translational motion in three degrees of freedom (DOF) and one-DOF rotational motion. Actuation redundancy eliminates all forward-kinematic singularities and improves the motion-force transmission property. Thanks to the special structure of the kinematic chains, all actuators are close to the base and full gravity compensation is achieved passively by using springs. Force producibility analysis shows that this haptic device is able to produce long-term continuous force feedback of 15–30 N in each direction. By developing a prototype of the haptic device and a virtual three-dimensional simulator, a preliminary performance evaluation of the haptic device was conducted. In addition, a torque distribution algorithm considering a relaxed form of actuator-torque saturation was experimentally evaluated, and a comparison with other algorithms reveals that this algorithm offers several advantages.

The utilization of solar energy in grid-connected photovoltaic installations has become increasingly significant. This article introduces a photovoltaic system seamlessly integrated with a three-phase network. The system employing a five-level Neutral Point Clamped (NPC) voltage source inverter is designed for a single-step connection to enhance power quality in the distribution network. The control technique employed for the efficient functioning of the photovoltaic system is based on the notion of instantaneous reactive power. Notably, this strategy is straightforward, operates the system throughout the day, and eliminates the need for Phase-Locked Loop (PLL) usage. The Pulse-Width Modulated (PWM) Current controller sends switching signals to the NPC multilevel inverter, which does a great job of dynamic performance under steady-state and transient situations. The proportional-integral controller regulates the voltage of the Uninterruptible Power Supply DC bus capacitors. The proposed system undergoes comprehensive simulation validation under various irradiation levels.

This paper investigates the performance of simultaneously transmitting and reflecting surface (STARS) assisted semi-grant-free non-orthogonal multiple access network with randomly distributed users. By deploying STARS, the transmit signals of grant-based user (GBU) and grant-free users (GFUs) can be exquisitely adjusted to reduce interference. We propose a maximum channel scheduling (MCS) protocol that allows a GFU to access GBU’s channel with the assistance of STARS. In particular, the impacts of perfect/imperfect successive interference cancellation (pSIC/ipSIC) on MCS protocol are taken into account. To characterize the performance of STARS aided MCS (STARS-MCS) network, we derive the expressions of outage probability for GBU and GFU with pSIC/ipSIC. By applying convolution theorem and Laplace transform, the asymptotic expressions of outage probability and diversity orders for GBU and GFU are attained. We further design a STARS-based power control (SPC) strategy to eliminate the outage probability error floor and improve the outage performance. Numerical results show that: 1) The performance of STARS-MCS outperforms the existing benchmarks in terms of outage probability and system throughput;2) The SPC strategy can effectively improve the performance of the STARS-MCS network and eliminate the outage probability error floor at high signal-to-noise ratios;and 3) By adjusting reflection and transmission coefficients of STARS, the outage performance of GBU and GFU can be greatly enhanced. © 2025 IEEE. The knowledge of solar greenhouse growers on environment control plays an important role in greenhouse production and management. We proposed a way to extract the control strategies from the monitored data of greenhouses by building a long short-term memory (LSTM) model. The result is verified according to the real monitored data of a solar greenhouse, which shows that the model can learn the control strategy of a ventilator in the solar greenhouse. Through monitored data and models, the knowledge of greenhouse ventilation control can be learned, and automatic control can be achieved in a greenhouse with a similar configuration. © 2022 IEEE.
