In this paper we deal with stochastic optimization problems where the data distributions change in response to the decision variables. Traditionally, the study of optimization problems with decision-dependent distributions has assumed either the absence of constraints or fixed constraints. This work considers a more general setting where the constraints can also dynamically adjust in response to changes in the decision variables. Specifically, we consider linear constraints and analyze the effect of decision-dependent distributions in both the objective function and constraints. Firstly, we establish a sufficient condition for the existence of a constrained equilibrium point, at which the distributions remain invariant under retraining. Moreover, we propose and analyze two algorithms: repeated constrained optimization and repeated dual ascent. For each algorithm, we provide sufficient conditions for convergence to the constrained equilibrium point. Furthermore, we explore the relationship between the equilibrium point and the optimal point for the constrained decision-dependent optimization problem. Notably, our results encompass previous findings as special cases when the constraints remain fixed. To show the effectiveness of our theoretical analysis, we provide numerical experiments on both a market problem and a dynamic pricing problem for parking based on real-world data. © 1963-2012 IEEE.

This work attempts to discuss the observability of linear time-invariant systems with event-triggered measurements. A new notion of observability, namely, ǫ-observability is defined with parameter ǫ, which relates to the worst-case performance of inferring the initial state based on not only the received measurement but also the implicit information in the event-triggering conditions at no-event instants. A criterion is developed to test the proposed ǫ-observability of discrete-time linear systems, based on which an iterative event-triggered set-membership observer is designed to evaluate a set containing all possible values of the state. The proposed set-membership observer is designed as the outer approximation of the ellipsoids predicted based on previous state estimates and the ellipsoids inferred by fusing the received measurement and communication conditions, which is optimal in the sense of trace at each step and is proved to be asymptotically bounded. This paper presents a haptic device with a simple architecture of only two limbs that can provide translational motion in three degrees of freedom (DOF) and one-DOF rotational motion. Actuation redundancy eliminates all forward-kinematic singularities and improves the motion-force transmission property. Thanks to the special structure of the kinematic chains, all actuators are close to the base and full gravity compensation is achieved passively by using springs. Force producibility analysis shows that this haptic device is able to produce long-term continuous force feedback of 15–30 N in each direction. By developing a prototype of the haptic device and a virtual three-dimensional simulator, a preliminary performance evaluation of the haptic device was conducted. In addition, a torque distribution algorithm considering a relaxed form of actuator-torque saturation was experimentally evaluated, and a comparison with other algorithms reveals that this algorithm offers several advantages.

The utilization of solar energy in grid-connected photovoltaic installations has become increasingly significant. This article introduces a photovoltaic system seamlessly integrated with a three-phase network. The system employing a five-level Neutral Point Clamped (NPC) voltage source inverter is designed for a single-step connection to enhance power quality in the distribution network. The control technique employed for the efficient functioning of the photovoltaic system is based on the notion of instantaneous reactive power. Notably, this strategy is straightforward, operates the system throughout the day, and eliminates the need for Phase-Locked Loop (PLL) usage. The Pulse-Width Modulated (PWM) Current controller sends switching signals to the NPC multilevel inverter, which does a great job of dynamic performance under steady-state and transient situations. The proportional-integral controller regulates the voltage of the Uninterruptible Power Supply DC bus capacitors. The proposed system undergoes comprehensive simulation validation under various irradiation levels.

This paper investigates the performance of simultaneously transmitting and reflecting surface (STARS) assisted semi-grant-free non-orthogonal multiple access network with randomly distributed users. By deploying STARS, the transmit signals of grant-based user (GBU) and grant-free users (GFUs) can be exquisitely adjusted to reduce interference. We propose a maximum channel scheduling (MCS) protocol that allows a GFU to access GBU’s channel with the assistance of STARS. In particular, the impacts of perfect/imperfect successive interference cancellation (pSIC/ipSIC) on MCS protocol are taken into account. To characterize the performance of STARS aided MCS (STARS-MCS) network, we derive the expressions of outage probability for GBU and GFU with pSIC/ipSIC. By applying convolution theorem and Laplace transform, the asymptotic expressions of outage probability and diversity orders for GBU and GFU are attained. We further design a STARS-based power control (SPC) strategy to eliminate the outage probability error floor and improve the outage performance. Numerical results show that: 1) The performance of STARS-MCS outperforms the existing benchmarks in terms of outage probability and system throughput;2) The SPC strategy can effectively improve the performance of the STARS-MCS network and eliminate the outage probability error floor at high signal-to-noise ratios;and 3) By adjusting reflection and transmission coefficients of STARS, the outage performance of GBU and GFU can be greatly enhanced. © 2025 IEEE. The knowledge of solar greenhouse growers on environment control plays an important role in greenhouse production and management. We proposed a way to extract the control strategies from the monitored data of greenhouses by building a long short-term memory (LSTM) model. The result is verified according to the real monitored data of a solar greenhouse, which shows that the model can learn the control strategy of a ventilator in the solar greenhouse. Through monitored data and models, the knowledge of greenhouse ventilation control can be learned, and automatic control can be achieved in a greenhouse with a similar configuration. © 2022 IEEE.

Groundbreaking applications such as ChatGPT have heightened research interest in generative artificial intelligence (GAI). Essentially, GAI excels not only in content generation but also signal processing, offering support for wireless sensing. Hence, we introduce a novel GAI-assisted human flow detection system (G-HFD). Rigorously, G-HFD first uses the channel state information (CSI) to estimate the velocity and acceleration of propagation path length change of the human induced reflection (HIR). Then, given the strong inference ability of the diffusion model, we propose a unified weighted conditional diffusion model (UW-CDM) to denoise the estimation results, enabling detection of the number of targets. Next, we use the CSI obtained by a uniform linear array with wavelength spacing to estimate the HIR’s time of flight and direction of arrival (DoA). In this process, UW-CDM solves the problem of ambiguous DoA spectrum, ensuring accurate DoA estimation. Finally, through clustering, G-HFD determines the number of subflows and the number of targets in each subflow, i.e., the subflow size. The evaluation based on practical downlink communication signals shows G-HFD’s accuracy of subflow size detection can reach 91%. This validates its effectiveness and underscores the significant potential of GAI in the context of wireless sensing. © 2024, CC BY.

With the rapid development of technology and the proliferation of uncrewed aerial systems (UAS), there is an immediate need for security solutions. Toward this end, we propose the use of a multi-robot system for autonomous and cooperative counter-UAS missions. In this paper, we present the design of the hardware and software components of different complementary robotic platforms: a mobile uncrewed ground vehicle (UGV) equipped with a LiDAR sensor, an uncrewed aerial vehicle (UAV) with a gimbal-mounted stereo camera for air-to-air inspections, and a UAV with a capture mechanism equipped with radars and camera. Our proposed system features 1) scalability to larger areas due to the distributed approach and online processing, 2) long-term cooperative missions, and 3) complementary multimodal perception for the detection of multirotor UAVs. In field experiments, we demonstrate the integration of all subsystems in accomplishing a counter-UAS task within an unstructured environment. The obtained results confirm the promising direction of using multi-robot and multi-modal systems for C-UAS.

The traditional main engine-driven aircraft ground taxiing method has the problems of low efficiency, heavy pollution and high fuel consumption. However, today's aircraft is facing the urgent need for efficient ground maneuvering, it is urgent to further optimize the ground taxiing method of the aircraft. In response to this demand, a taxiing strategy of autonomously dragging the nose wheels of the aircraft is proposed. However, the ground dynamics research on the nose-wheel drive taxiing configuration aircraft is still insufficient. Therefore, in this paper, the ground dynamics modeling and simplification of the nose wheel autonomous drag configuration aircraft are carried out;the stability boundary of the system under different nose wheel rotation angles and rotation angle change rates during ground taxiing is analyzed and calculated;The traditional configuration aircraft with thrust to achieve the function of ground taxiing is compared and analyzed. TEMPORAL-SPATIAL REPRESENTATION LEARNING TRANSFORMER FOR EEG-BASED EMOTION RECOGNITION

Both the temporal dynamics and spatial correlations of Electroencephalogram (EEG), which contain discriminative emotion information, are essential for the emotion recognition. However, some redundant information within the EEG signals would degrade the performance. Specifically, the subjects reach prospective intense emotions for only a fraction of the stimulus duration. Besides, it is a challenge to extract discriminative features from the complex spatial correlations among a number of electrodes. To deal with the problems, we propose a transformer-based model to robustly capture temporal dynamics and spatial correlations of EEG. Especially, temporal feature extractors which share the weight among all the EEG channels are designed to adaptively extract dynamic context information from raw signals. Furthermore, multi-head self-attention mechanism within the transformers could adaptively localize the vital EEG fragments and emphasize the essential brain regions which contribute to the performance. To verify the effectiveness of the proposed method, we conduct the experiments on two public datasets, DEAP and MAHNOB-HCI.
