The evolution of hierarchies in complex systems is an exciting phenomenon since hierarchies exist in many social and biological networks. So far, many approaches have been proposed, however, they are either based on the locality of the nodes or the cluster relationships between networks. These approaches often use traditional time-series network modeling methods that focus only on local static relationships between different nodes but ignore the dynamic interactions between real network nodes. Local static and dynamic global relationships should be considered to understand better the generation and maintenance of hierarchical phenomena in networks. To address this problem, we propose a long-term, flexible hierarchical evolution model for explaining the hierarchical phenomena arising in networks. Our model can integrate both local static and dynamic global information in the network and use time and higher-order inter-node interactions to integrate static and dynamic relationships. New interactions in the network are formed based on preference information between nodes, while old links fade out over time. In addition, we derive critical points for the hierarchical evolution of the system over long periods. Importantly, our model allows the comparison of network rank formation across different data as a way to perform rank evolution studies. © 2022, The Authors. All rights reserved.

Image captioning is still a challenging task aiming at describing the contents of image by words. Current image caption methods usually assume the object relation to be important if the semantic and spatial geometric relationships between objects are close and large, but the relations meeting this assumption are not necessarily important to describe the contents of image in a fine-grained way. That is, the importance of fine-grained object relations is not properly taken into account. Besides, current Transformer based image caption models also fail to consider the importance of fine-grained objects, since they generate all the words of a sentence at one time, which cannot Figure out which objects are more important and vice versa. In this paper, we propose a novel Fine-grained Adaptive Object Transformer (FineFormer) network, which can jointly discover the importance of fine-grained objects and object relations for image captioning. Specifically, a new concept of adaptive soft-foreground attention is proposed to highlight the fine-grained objects dominating the descriptive contents. To characterize and calculate the important relations between fine-grained objects, we also propose an adaptive object relation attention to refine the object relation from the generation process of relation. As such, FineFormer can describe the contents of image more accurately, by reducing the interference of unimportant objects in the background. Extensive experiments on the highly-competitive MS-COCO dataset demonstrated the superiority of our FineFormer.

Achievable Diversity Order of HARQ-Aided Downlink NOMA systems

The combination between non-orthogonal multiple access (NOMA) and hybrid automatic repeat request (HARQ) is capable of realizing ultra-reliability, high throughput and many concurrent connections particularly for emerging communication systems. This paper focuses on characterizing the asymptotic scaling law of the outage probability of HARQ-aided NOMA systems with respect to the transmit power, i.e., diversity order. The analysis of diversity order is carried out for three basic types of HARQ-aided downlink NOMA systems, including Type I HARQ, HARQ with chase combining (HARQ-CC) and HARQ with incremental redundancy (HARQ-IR). The diversity orders of three HARQ-aided downlink NOMA systems are derived in closed-form, where an integration domain partition trick is developed to obtain the bounds of the outage probability specially for HARQ-CC and HARQ-IR-aided NOMA systems. The analytical results show that the diversity order is a decreasing step function of transmission rate, and full time diversity can only be achieved under a sufficiently low transmission rate. It is also revealed that HARQ-IR-aided NOMA systems have the largest diversity order, followed by HARQ-CC-aided and then Type I HARQ-aided NOMA systems. Additionally, the users’ diversity orders follow a descending order according to their respective average channel gains. Furthermore, we expand discussions on the cases of power-efficient transmissions and imperfect channel state information (CSI). Monte Carlo simulations finally confirm our analysis. © 2022, CC BY.

To enhance the voltage stability of power system, the bus-bar splitting is employed on the look-ahead base case with a credible set of disturbances. The purpose of this paper is identify a 'best' bus-bar splitting scheme for a look-ahead power system that can enhance the load margin of the look-ahead power system and ensure the load margins of contingency cases are great than a threshold preset by operators. Considering the complexity of online solution of the proposed problem, the group property of contingencies and a four-stage methodology are proposed in this paper. Results of the IEEE 118 bus-power system indicate the effectiveness of bus splitting and the four-stage methodology. © 2020 IEEE.

Hierarchical Nb 2 O 5 @ZnO hetero-branched nanorods used for highly responsive, selective, and stable hydrogen sulfide (H 2 S) sensors were synthesized through a sequential process combining a hydrothermal method, atomic-layer-deposition processing, and modified hydrothermal processing for branching ZnO nanowires. The Nb 2 O 5 @ZnO hetero-branched nanorod sensors exhibited a great response (R a /R g ) of 6.10 towards 20 ppm H 2 S at an optimal working temperature of 400 o C, whose resistance changing rate (~5.10) was 39.2- and 1.9-fold those of Nb 2 O 5 (~0.13) and Nb 2 O 5 @ZnO core-shell nanorod (~2.74) sensors, respectively. The heterojunction formed at the Nb 2 O 5 @ZnO interface and the characteristic reaction between ZnO and H 2 S effectively improved H 2 S sensing performance. Moreover, the branching of ZnO nanowires introduced abundant homojunctions and prominently enlarged the specific surface area, further increasing the response of hetero-branched sensors. Meanwhile, the Nb 2 O 5 @ZnO hetero-branched sensors maintained steady performance over a month, indicating good stability and repeatability. In a word, such hierarchical Nb 2 O 5 @ZnO hetero-branched nanorod gas sensors are promising for the development of sensitive and selective H 2 S detection. © 2022, The Authors. All rights reserved.

With the rapid proliferation of smart devices in wireless networks, more powerful technologies are expected to fulfill the network requirements of high throughput, massive connectivity, and diversify quality of service. To this end, rate splitting multiple access (RSMA) is proposed as a promising solution to improve spectral efficiency and provide better fairness for the next-generation mobile networks. In this paper, the outage performance of uplink RSMA transmission with randomly deployed users is investigated, taking both user scheduling schemes and power allocation strategies into consideration. Specifically, the greedy user scheduling (GUS) and cumulative distribution function (CDF) based user scheduling (CUS) schemes are considered, which could maximize the rate performance and guarantee scheduling fairness, respectively. Meanwhile, we re-investigate cognitive power allocation (CPA) strategy, and propose a new rate fairness-oriented power allocation (FPA) strategy to enhance the scheduled users' rate fairness. By employing order statistics and stochastic geometry, an analytical expression of the outage probability for each scheduling scheme combining power allocation is derived to characterize the performance. To get more insights, the achieved diversity order of each scheme is also derived. Theoretical results demonstrate that both GUS and CUS schemes applying CPA or FPA strategy can achieve full diversity orders, and the application of CPA strategy in RSMA can effectively eliminate the secondary user's diversity order constraint from the primary user. Simulation results corroborate the accuracy of the analytical expressions, and show that the proposed FPA strategy can achieve excellent rate fairness performance in high signal-to-noise ratio region. Motivated by the inadequacy of conventional control methods for power networks with a large share of renewable generation, in this paper we study the (stochastic) passivity property of wind turbines based on the Doubly Fed Induction Generator (DFIG). Differently from the majority of the results in the literature, where renewable generation is ignored or assumed to be constant, we model wind power generation as a stochastic process, where wind speed is described by a class of stochastic differential equations. Then, we design a distributed control scheme that achieves load frequency control and economic dispatch, ensuring the stochastic stability of the controlled network.

Recently,with the development of technology and the lucubrate of automation technology,the dependence of modern industry on synchronous motors has gone deep into the *** fact,the current complex control algorithms consume the computing power of the data processing chips and put forward a higher request to the ability of ***,the emphasis of this study lies in a rapid deployment method of a brushless DC motor servo control system based on the model *** using Simulink software to simulate and verify the three-closed-loop servo model of the DC brushless motor,Verilog or VHDL language code will be generated,which can automatically configure the project according to the ***,a drive and control hardware platform based on Xilinx Zynq-7000 chips was built to verify the feasibility,the experimental results indicate that the proposed method can effectively simplify the deployment of complex algorithm codes,reduce the development cycle of brushless DC motor servo system with strong engineering practicability.

We consider risk-averse learning in repeated unknown games where the goal of the agents is to minimize their individual risk of incurring significantly high cost. Specifically, the agents use the conditional value at risk (CVaR) as a risk measure and rely on bandit feedback in the form of the cost values of the selected actions at every episode to estimate their CVaR values and update their actions. A major challenge in using bandit feedback to estimate CVaR is that the agents can only access their own cost values, which, however, depend on the actions of all agents. To address this challenge, we propose a new risk-averse learning algorithm with momentum that utilizes the full historical information on the cost values. We show that this algorithm achieves sub-linear regret and matches the best known algorithms in the literature. We provide numerical experiments for a Cournot game that show that our method outperforms existing methods.
