Cooperative coevolution (CC) algorithms, based on the divide-and-conquer strategy, have emerged as the predominant approach to solving large-scale global optimization (LSGO) problems. The efficiency and accuracy of the grouping stage significantly impact the performance of the optimization process. While the general separability grouping (GSG) method has overcome the limitation of previous differential grouping (DG) methods by enabling the decomposition of nonadditively separable functions, it suffers from high computational complexity. To address this challenge, this article proposes a composite separability grouping (CSG) method, seamlessly integrating DG and GSG into a problem decomposition framework to utilize the strengths of both approaches. CSG introduces a step-by-step decomposition framework that accurately decomposes various problem types using fewer computational resources. By sequentially identifying additively, multiplicatively and generally separable variables, CSG progressively groups nonseparable variables by recursively considering the interactions between each nonseparable variable and the formed nonseparable groups. Furthermore, to enhance the efficiency and accuracy of CSG, we introduce two innovative methods: a multiplicatively separable variable detection method and a nonseparable variable grouping method. These two methods are designed to effectively detect multiplicatively separable variables and efficiently group nonseparable variables, respectively. Extensive experimental results demonstrate that CSG achieves more accurate variable grouping with lower computational complexity compared to GSG and state-of-the-art DG-series designs. © 2024 IEEE.

This paper develops a new decomposition algorithm for solving Electricity Market Pricing (EMP) problem, taking into account both revenue-adequacy and Fast Frequency Reserve (FFR) constraints. Due to revenue-adequacy constraint, a bilevel model of the EMP problem is introduced (BL-EMP). The upper level of the BL-EMP model represents the non-convex unit commitment (UC) decisions as well as the revenue-adequacy constraints of the market participants (generators, loads, and battery-storage owner). The lower level is a convex economic dispatch model with FFR constraint. To tackle the computational complexity of the considered BL-EMP model, this paper develops, tests, and proposes a Strengthened Primal-Dual Decomposition (SPDD) algorithm, which takes benefits from both Benders-like and Lagrange Dual-like algorithms. The new SPDD algorithm has a series of interesting computational properties, which are theoretically discussed in the paper. The SPDD algorithm has better computational performance than standard Benders decomposition algorithm and it also does not need tuning of the Big-M (or disjunctive) parameters for solving the proposed BL-EMP problem. Results from the modified IEEE 24-bus, the IEEE 118-bus, and the IEEE 300-bus system show the superiority of proposed SPDD algorithm over the classic Benders algorithm. © 2023 IEEE.

The COVID-19 epidemic has had a huge impact on the educational landscape, prompting the adoption of online and remote learning as viable alternatives to conventional in-person instruction. In order to create effective educational methods as institutions prepare for the post-pandemic period, it is essential to understand students' preferences for various learning modes. With the aid of machine learning techniques, this study seeks to forecast preferences for learning styles in post-pandemic higher education. The study made use of a dataset compiled from a wide range of college students, which included information on the institution type (public or private), program type (bachelor's or diploma), academic discipline (science or humanities), gender, year of study, internet use, communication costs, comorbidity status, vaccination history, gadget and laptop ownership, and preferred learning mode (online, in-person, or both). For the aim of prediction, a Support Vector Machine (SVM) was used. Its kernel functions included linear, polynomial, radial basis function (RBF), and sigmoid. Performance criteria like accuracy, precision, recall, and F1 score were used to assess the models after the dataset was randomly partitioned into training and testing sets. The findings showed that for identifying the preferred mode of learning, SVM with the RBF kernel had the highest prediction accuracy (91.67%). Further proving the RBF kernel's efficacy, the confusion matrix analysis showed that high values in the diagonal represented accurate predictions for each of the three classes (both online and onsite). The results imply that machine learning approaches, in particular SVM with the RBF kernel, may accurately forecast students' preferences for learning modes in the post-pandemic situation. In a post-pandemic society, the findings provide insightful information that may be used to build adaptable and inclusive learning models and put them into practice. © 2023 IEEE.

The dynamics of a quadcopter unmanned aerial vehicle (UAV) and proportional integral derivative (PID) control based on disturbance rejection are mathematically modelled in this work. The model presented is a nonlinear in nature and modelled with respect to the two fundamental frames of reference and physical mathematical laws. The objective is to create the most accurate replica of the vehicle. The created model is utilized to develop a PID controller method that will precisely and steadily operate the quadrotor system. The development of a controller is to obtain stability in the quadcopter system. First, the nonlinear and couple model quadcopter were established, and control described the principles of the ability of decoupling rejection control then the model was decoupled. The system contains four input forces, which are basically the thrust provided by each propeller coupled to each rotor with a fixed angle. Pitch angle must change in order to maintain forward (backward) motion, which is accomplished by simultaneously increasing (decreasing) front (rear) rotor speed and decreasing (increasing) rear (front) rotor speed. The same method is used to change the roll angle for left and right motion. The motors in the front and rear spin counter-clockwise, while the motors in other motor positions rotate clockwise. This causes the yaw command to be generated by either raising or reducing the speed of the counter-clockwise motors while reducing or increasing the speed of the clockwise motors. The achieved goal here is the derivation of a model that properly reflects the physical properties enabling realistic simulations and is simple enough to be applied to controller design in the future. The system and controller's mathematical models were converted to matching Simulink models in order to make system simulations and investigations easier. The results show the accuracy and significant disturbance rejection of the nonlinear model. © 2024 IEEE.

Battery energy storage systems(BESSs)are expected to play a crucial role in the operation and control of active distribution networks(ADNs).In this paper,a holistic state estimation framework is developed for ADNs with BESSs integrated.A dynamic equivalent model of BESS is developed,and the state transition and measurement equations are *** on the equivalence between the correction stage of the iterated extended Kalman filter(IEKF)and the weighted least squares(WLS)regression,a holistic state estimation framework is proposed to capture the static state variables of ADNs and the dynamic state variables of BESSs,especially the state of charge(SOC).A bad data processing method is also *** simulation results show that the proposed holistic state estimation framework improves the accuracy of state estimation as well as the capability of bad data detection for both ADNs and BESSs,providing comprehensive situational awareness for the whole system.

Reinforcement learning(RL) has roots in dynamic programming and it is called adaptive/approximate dynamic programming(ADP) within the control community. This paper reviews recent developments in ADP along with RL and its applications to various advanced control fields. First, the background of the development of ADP is described, emphasizing the significance of regulation and tracking control problems. Some effective offline and online algorithms for ADP/adaptive critic control are displayed, where the main results towards discrete-time systems and continuous-time systems are surveyed, ***, the research progress on adaptive critic control based on the event-triggered framework and under uncertain environment is discussed, respectively, where event-based design, robust stabilization, and game design are reviewed. Moreover, the extensions of ADP for addressing control problems under complex environment attract enormous attention. The ADP architecture is revisited under the perspective of data-driven and RL frameworks,showing how they promote ADP formulation ***, several typical control applications with respect to RL and ADP are summarized, particularly in the fields of wastewater treatment processes and power systems, followed by some general prospects for future research. Overall, the comprehensive survey on ADP and RL for advanced control applications has d emonstrated its remarkable potential within the artificial intelligence era. In addition, it also plays a vital role in promoting environmental protection and industrial intelligence.

We propose an operating-envelope-aware, prosumer-centric, and efficient energy community that aggregates individual and shared community distributed energy resources and transacts with a regulated distribution system operator (DSO) under a generalized net energy metering tariff design. To ensure safe network operation, the DSO imposes dynamic export and import limits, known as dynamic operating envelopes, on end-users' revenue meters. Given the operating envelopes, we propose an incentive-aligned community pricing mechanism under which the decentralized optimization of community members' benefit implies the optimization of overall community welfare. The proposed pricing mechanism satisfies the cost-causation principle and ensures the stability of the energy community in a coalition game setting. Numerical examples provide insights into the characteristics of the proposed pricing mechanism and quantitative measures of its performance. © 2023 IEEE.

This paper outlines the merging of Explainable Artificial Intelligence (XAI) with Open Radio Access Network (O-RAN) and space communication systems. The usage of AI drives decision-making in critical domains of telecommunications and space explorations requires transparency and interpretability. However, traditional AI models often operate as 'black boxes,' making it difficult to understand their decision-making processes. This lack of explainability poses significant risks, including misinterpretation of signals, undetected anomalies, and erroneous decision-making, which can compromise the integrity of communication systems. Specifically, the challenges include accurately distinguishing between legitimate signals and attacks in anti-jamming scenarios, understanding the behaviour of complex models like LSTM in traffic prediction, and ensuring the reliability of telemetry data despite errors and noise. Integration of XAI techniques within O-RAN architecture and space communication protocols can ensure trust, reliability and safety in AI-enabled systems. This paper investigates the opportunities and challenges of incorporating XAI in O-RAN and space communications. Additionally, it presents the implications of XAI, the need for interpretability in autonomous spacecraft operations, anomaly detection and decision support for mission-critical tasks. By bridging the gap in AI transparency and advanced communication technology, this paper aims to present a detailed analysis of implemented AI and Machine Learning (ML) in the telecommunication domain. It also presents the challenges currently faced in the intersection of XAI and communication. Use cases of XAI in the domain of Open Radio Access Network and Space Communications in light of LIME and SHAP techniques were presented to give a hypothetical modelling for future experimentation to provide local and global interpretation and explanations for the currently employed AI/ML models in the respective domains. We investigate the application of ByteTrack in the realm of multiple object tracking. ByteTrack, a simple tracking algorithm, enables the simultaneous tracking of multiple objects by strategically incorporating detections with a low confidence threshold. Conventionally, objects are initially associated with high confidence threshold detections. When the association between objects and detections becomes ambiguous, ByteTrack extends the association to lower confidence threshold detections. One notable drawback of the existing ByteTrack approach is its reliance on a fixed threshold to differentiate between high and low-confidence detections. In response to this limitation, we introduce a novel and adaptive approach. Our proposed method entails a dynamic adjustment of the confidence threshold, leveraging insights derived from overall detections. Through experimentation, we demonstrate the effectiveness of our adaptive confidence threshold technique while maintaining running time compared to ByteTrack. © 2023 IEEE.
