With the growing demand for computational and storage capabilities of modern learning models, performing their computation exclusively in a centralized manner has become increasingly impractical. Executing the inference of foundation models in a distributed manner presents significant challenges, particularly in optimizing both computing and communication resources. This work introduces a novel deployment scheme for large language model (LLM) layers that jointly considers computation and communication efficiency within an edge network environment to address these issues. Specifically, we resort to the matching theory to effectively orchestrate the distributed deployment of the LLM layers across the edge nodes of the networks, where nodes have varying computational capacities and communication speed. This framework is based on a two-sided game, enabling each layer to express its individual preferences for node allocation while allowing nodes to prioritize their preferred layers. This mutual selection process minimizes inference latency in the learning process and models the bubble time as game externalities, assuming a sequential pipeline execution. The algorithmic solution reaches a stable matching outcome. Performance evaluation was conducted considering both simulations and a small-scale testbed to measure the effectiveness of the proposed algorithm compared to state-of-the-art alternatives. In particular, the small-scale testbed was developed to distribute an LLM to support autonomous driving, leveraging the vision-language model paradigm. The results highlight performance improvements of up to around 10% in comparison to the Koklata game alternative. © 2020 IEEE.

This paper explores using RFID sensing technology to monitor soft skin moisture, enhance skincare routines, and improve health management. The proposed sensor features a curved cylindrical Teflon or Rogers AD 600 core coated with copper film, with a segment removed to create a sensing section. An analysis of the sensor's electric field response and power flow on the skin reveals significant differences in transmitted wave values between dry skin and melanoma in the 76 GHz to 80 GHz range, enabling precise detection of skin moisture levels. © 2025 IEEE.

Terahertz imaging is a groundbreaking technology that has broadened opportunities in non-destructive testing, medical imaging, security screening, and the arts for analyzing ancient artifacts. This study presents a chipless RFID array specifically designed for THz imaging. The chipless RFID is placed on a phantom containing a rectangular rubber object. A THz waveguide is then directed toward it, scanning 6 points on the phantom. Finally, the target image and its location are reconstructed using the Delay and Sum method. © 2025 IEEE.

This paper presents a millimeter-wave end-fire antenna array design with improved compactness and broad-band performance. The proposed architecture introduces a pair of horizontally symmetric two-Terminal open-circuit U-shaped dipoles as an alternative to conventional folded dipoles. A half-wavelength resonator excitation is implemented to overcome the characteristic high input impedance of folded dipoles, resulting in dual reflection zeros that enable broadband operation. The miniaturized planar antenna element array measures 0.43λ0 × 0.25λ0. Experimental measurements of a fabricated 1 × 4 array with directors demonstrate excellent performance characteristics, including 10 dB impedance matching over a frequency range of 24-34 GHz and a consistent average gain of 10.1 dBi. © 2025 IEEE.

The traditional method for designing branch-line couplers relies on a time-consuming labor-intensive trial-And-error process with multiple EM simulation iterations. This paper introduces a novel framework combining artificial neural networks with a self-Adaptive differential evolution algorithm (ANNs-SaDE) for automatic design. Magnetic bearing motors are in high demand due to their ability to operate in special environments without mechanical friction and lubrication, effectively avoiding wear and contamination. To overcome the complexity and maximum speed limitations, bearingless PMSMs (Permanent Magnet Synchronous Motors) have been developed. This study explains the electromagnetic driving principles of bearingless PMSMs based on generation conditions and the components of suspension forces. Furthermore, the permanent magnets arranged on the rotor are designed to alter the magnetic flux distribution using various magnetization patterns. FEA(Finite Element Analysis) was conducted for each model, and the derived results were compared and analyzed. This study investigates the performance of bearingless PMSMs based on different rotor permanent magnet arrangements, and draws a comprehensive conclusion. © The Korean Institute of electrical Engineers.

A low-profile transmissive metasurface is proposed for generating the butterfly-shaped beam. The metasurface is composed of the single-layer dielectric unit cell with vias. The metal on the upper and lower surfaces of the unit cell is consistent, and the shape of each metal layer is extremely simple, consisting of three rectangular patches. The phase distribution of metasurfaces includes two parts: The focusing phase and the periodic phase. The simulation results show that the proposed metasurface can generate a butterfly-shaped beam with a gain of 19.4 dBi. © 2025 IEEE.

The permanent magnet (PM) Vernier machines enhance torque density and decrease cogging torque compared to conventional permanent magnet synchronous motor. This paper presents a novel fractional-slot H-shaped PM Vernier machines, which incorporates unique design for the PM housing and rotor core construction. These designs are specifically optimized for the small-scale electric vehicles application. The choice of the PM arrangement is based on the combination of V-shaped and spoke-array PM topologies. The aim is to achieve a higher torque density than V-shaped PM machines, while reducing cogging torque compared to spoke-array PM machines. By using this methodology, leakage fluxes in the terminal region of the PMs reduce, resulting in an augmentation of both flux-linkage and power factor. A prototype 680 W motor was fabricated with 12 slots and 8 poles to verify the accuracy and effectiveness of the proposed model. Mathematical model and dynamical analysis are proposed for the analytical prediction of machine performance. Due to the unique shape feature of the machine, the conformal mapping approach is applied to design the rotor core. To validate the model, the predicted performance of the motor was compared with those obtained by finite element analysis and experiments. © 1986-2012 IEEE.

A novel fully integrated asymmetric Doherty power amplifier (DPA) with optimized driver is proposed. By adjusting the unequal power divider (UPD) and the bias conditions of two-stage carrier and peak power amplifiers (PPAs), good back-off efficiency (BOE) and gain flatness have been achieved. To validate the proposed concept, a 2.45-GHz asymmetric DPA (ADPA) is fabricated in 2-μm gallium arsenide (GaAs) heterojunction bipolar transistor (HBT) process. Under continuous-wave (CW) measurement, the power amplifier (PA) can provide a saturated output power (PSAT) of 32.3 dBm with a power added efficiency (PAE) of 28% at 2.45 GHz. The measured PAE is higher than 21% at 7-dB power back-off (PBO) levels. Furthermore, under the excitation of 256-quadrature amplitude modulation (QAM) signal, the proposed ADPA achieves a PAE of 22% at an average output power (Pavg) of 25.8 dBm with DPD while ensuring that the EVM is better than -32 dB. © 2023 IEEE.
