SDN, short for Software Defined Networking, represents a network architecture controlled by software applications. Distributed Denial-of-Service (DDoS) attacks create a challenge to these SDN environments and lead to many issues like loss of data and network instability, and takes a lot of time to address requests made by human users. It is very crucial to detect such attacks, for users to seamlessly use the network and take advantage of what is available online. This study demonstrates the significance of Machine Learning algorithms in identifying malicious traffic. Employing algorithms Gradient Boosting Classifier (GBC), K-Nearest Neighbors (KNN), Support Vector Machine (SVM), and Logistic Regression (LR) proves effective in detecting complex and dynamic attacks. The study utilizes Local Interpretable Model-agnostic Explanation (LIME) to analyze the strength of each feature that contributes towards the prediction of classification. The results highlight the superior performance of the Gradient Boosting Classifier, achieving an accuracy of 99.75% and an F1-score of 99.68% in detecting network anomalies and threats. © The Author(s), under exclusive license to Springer Nature Singapore Pte Ltd. 2025.

Recruitment is one of the most crucial factors in shaping efficient and high-performing teams within organizations. However, the traditional recruitment processes are often plagued by biases and subjective judgments that lead to inconsistent and suboptimal hiring decisions. This project uses machine learning(ML) to make recruitment more objective, efficient, and data-driven. By taking the age, gender, education level, experience, interview scores, and personality traits of the applicants as key features, the model predicts candidate suitability without bias. The methodology uses robust preprocessing, Chi-Square feature selection, and the SMOTE technique to overcome class imbalance in the dataset. The proposed system uses various different machine learning algorithms like CatBoost, KD-Trees, Random Forest, and Logistic Regression and many more. All these models are trained and fine-tuned with GridSearchCV for hyperparameter optimization. Among them, the best model was CatBoost with 95% accuracy. This work shows how machine learning can change the recruitment game for organizations to make unbiased, data-driven hiring decisions and ultimately increase workforce efficiency and organizational success. © 2025 IEEE.

The rapid evolution of smartphone technology and the diverse range of available models have made selecting a cost-effective mobile phone a complex decision for consumers. Although brand, internal memory, camera quality, battery life, processor speed are all important determinants of purchase decisions, it is frequently unclear how these factors relate to the price. This work explores the application of machine learning algorithms to predict mobile phone prices and their price category classification based on these characteristics, offering insights to aid consumer decision-making. Five classifiers and five regressors were compared using accuracy and time complexity as evaluation metrics and k-NN was found to be the best classifier for the price class classification and LightGBM was found to be the best regressor for price prediction. © 2025 IEEE.

Bitcoin price prediction remains a complicated task in financial markets since price fluctuations are characterized by high variability, non-linear and dependent on different trends. The common models of forecasting can be disruptive because they do not readily accommodate the breadth of the data and the dynamics of the marketplace. The paper presents a new approach to predicting Bitcoin price shifts based on state-of-the-art data structures and both machine learning and technical analysis. The formative historical price datasets and large scale features are organized and manipulated in an efficient manner with the aid of data structures as well as the temporal and non-linear trends in prices are captured by ARIMA,Exponential smoothing and Random. Also, trends of moving averages are used to boost the model’s competency to analyze the sentiments of the market. The proposed framework was put through a test on real world Bitcoin price data and it was shown to provide better results as compared to the traditional methods with better accuracy and visualization. Besides that, our method enhances the accuracy of the forecast, while the deployment of the method allows developing a realtime Bitcoin price prediction model that can be useful for traders and investors. The integration of machine learning and technical analysis gives a powerful and reliable tool to forecast the Bitcoins price trends. © 2025 IEEE.

A low-profile leaky-wave antenna with mechanical beam steering is presented for K-band applications. The antenna comprises two radiating layers: A fixed layer and a movable layer. Four sets of slots with different periodicities are etched at the surface of both layers. Sliding the movable layer in four steps exposes different sets of slots on the fixed layer, shifting the main beam at four angles. The radiating layers are excited using a pillbox feeding network based on two substrate-integrated waveguide horn antennas through a coupling slot. Simulations demonstrate that beam steering is realized by moving the top layer in four 0.6 mm steps. The antenna is designed to operate at 20 GHz with 0.7 GHz bandwidth, a maximum gain of 20 dBi, with 3 dB scan loss and-9 dB side lobe level. © 2025 IEEE.

The growing spectrum of Generative Adversarial Network (GAN) applications in medical imaging, cyber security, data augmentation, and the field of remote sensing tasks necessitate a sharp spike in the criticality of review of Generative Adversarial Networks. Earlier reviews that targeted reviewing certain architecture of the GAN or emphasizing a specific application-oriented area have done so in a narrow spirit and lacked the systematic comparative analysis of the models’ performance metrics. Numerous reviews do not apply standardized frameworks, showing gaps in the efficiency evaluation of GANs, training stability, and suitability for specific tasks. In this work, a systemic review of GAN models using the PRISMA framework is developed in detail to fill the gap by structurally evaluating GAN architectures. A wide variety of GAN models have been discussed in this review, starting from the basic Conditional GAN, Wasserstein GAN, and Deep Convolutional GAN, and have gone down to many specialized models, such as EVAGAN, FCGAN, and SIF-GAN, for different applications across various domains like fault diagnosis, network security, medical imaging, and image segmentation. The PRISMA methodology systematically filters relevant studies by inclusion and exclusion criteria to ensure transparency and replicability in the review process. Hence, all models are assessed relative to specific performance metrics such as accuracy, stability, and computational efficiency. There are multiple benefits to using the PRISMA approach in this setup. Not only does this help in finding optimal models suitable for various applications, but it also provides an explicit framework for comparing GAN performance. In addition to this, diverse types of GAN are included to ensure a comprehensive view of the state-of-the-art techniques. Recent developments in deep-sea exploration, environmental surveillance, and ocean research, accurate segmentation of underwater images is essential. This study pursues this goal by exploring underwater image segmentation from a deep learning perspective. It specifically looks at how well the Attention Residual UNet architecture, a more sophisticated version of the U-Net, works with the focal loss technique to achieve accuracy in this crucial task. Using attention mechanisms and residual connections, the Attention Residual UNet architecture, based on the U-Net framework, can capture fine details while maintaining contextual coherence. Model loss and accuracy measures are considered as this study carefully assesses the architecture’s performance. Notably, the model exhibits outstanding accuracy, obtaining 97.23% and 92.76% accuracy on the training and validation sets, respectively. The Jaccard coefficient further demonstrates the model’s efficiency, which measures the intersection between predicted and actual segments and has coefficients for the model and validation sets of 74.31% and 66.51%, respectively. The Mean Intersection over Union (MIoU) statistic, which boasts a value 91.24%, validates the model’s superiority. © The Author(s), under exclusive license to Springer Nature Singapore Pte Ltd. 2025.

NumScout: Unveiling Numerical Defects in Smart Contracts using LLM-Pruning Symbolic Execution

In recent years, the Ethereum platform has witnessed a proliferation of smart contracts, accompanied by exponential growth in total value locked (TVL). High-TVL smart contracts often require complex numerical computations, particularly in mathematical financial models used by many decentralized applications (DApps). Improper calculations can introduce numerical defects, posing potential security risks. Existing research primarily focuses on traditional numerical defects like integer overflow, and there is currently a lack of systematic research and effective detection methods targeting new types of numerical defects. In this paper, we identify five new types of numerical defects through the analysis of 1,199 audit reports by utilizing the open card method. Each defect is defined and illustrated with a code example to highlight its features and potential consequences. We also propose NumScout, a symbolic execution-based tool designed to detect these five defects. Specifically, the tool combines information from source code and bytecode, analyzing key operations such as comparisons and transfers, to effectively locate defects and report them based on predefined detection patterns. Furthermore, NumScout uses a large language model (LLM) to prune functions which are unrelated to numerical operations. This step allows symbolic execution to quickly enter the target function and improve runtime speed by 28.4%. We run NumScout on 6,617 real-world contracts and evaluated its performance based on manually labeled results. We find that 1,774 contracts contained at least one of the five defects, and the tool achieved an overall precision of 89.7%. © 2025 IEEE.

Improving Wireless Security with Phase-Tag Physical-Layer Authentication

Authentication is a fundamental requirement and a crucial topic in wireless communications. This paper focuses on improving the security of the prior tag-based Physical-Layer Authentication (PLA) schemes. We propose two phase-tag-based PLA schemes to overcome the limitations of prior tag-based PLA schemes. First, we propose the Phase-Tag-based PLA (PT-PLA) scheme, which superimposes a tag to the phase of the transmitted signal rather than the amplitude. Second, we propose the Adaptive Phase-Tag-based PLA (APT-PLA) scheme, where an appropriate parameter of the PT-PLA scheme is adaptively set for achieving a better trade-off among robustness, security, and compatibility. Rigorous theoretical analyses of the proposed schemes are conducted in high-order modulation systems, such as M-PSK and M-QAM systems, with a focus on evaluating their robustness, security, and compatibility. We also discuss advantages and disadvantages of these schemes and offer helpful recommendations according to different scenarios. Furthermore, we implement the proposed schemes and perform extensive simulations to compare their performance comprehensively. Simulation results demonstrate a perfect match with the theoretical results, verifying the superiority of the proposed schemes over the prior schemes. © 2002-2012 IEEE.
