Shear-stiffening materials have garnered significant attention due to their inherent ability to rapidly respond to changes in strain rate. However, conventional studies on these materials exhibit limited mechanical performance and insufficient structural design, hindering applications in material science and smart mechatronics. Inspired by the gradient structure of a squid beak, this study uses a direct-ink-writing (DIW) technology to develop a novel gradient shear-stiffening elastomer (GSSE). Comprehensive characterizations were conducted to optimize the printability of the shear-stiffening elastomer under various testing conditions, including rheology, compression, and tension. Additionally, the toughness and impact resistance of the elastomer were systematically investigated. It is demonstrated that the biomimetic GSSE exhibits enhanced flexibility, efficient energy dissipation, and outstanding impact resistance. Consequently, this work advances the field of shear-stiffening elastomers for diverse applications by leveraging the gradient structure design strategy to achieve superior mechanical performance under complex loading conditions. © 2025 The Author(s)

A pedagogical agent is an animated interface in an interactive online learning environment. Its role involves guiding users through instructions and participating in direct discussions. Numerous research studies underline the advantages of pedagogical agents in delivering instruction, tailoring learning experiences, and promoting inclusivity. The authors utilize machine learning techniques to develop an interactive multimodal application (combining visuals and audio) designed as a pedagogical agent. This application is intended to assist in teaching primary school students (aged 6 to 8) the recognition of colors and letters. Additionally, it incorporates voice interaction to assess their learning progress. The overarching objective of this pedagogical agent is to seamlessly integrate artificial intelligence (AI) into educational settings, thereby amplifying student engagement and motivation during the learning process. This paper will explore the journey of creating a machine learning-based application and its potential utility in supporting educators. Furthermore, the authors will investigate potential augmentations that could render the application more adept at aiding students with dyslexia. The paper will emphasize the significance of human-computer interaction (HCI), as it significantly shapes pedagogical agents' design and operational aspects. © 2023 IEEE.

An optimized MCHVD approach to curtail handover failures in wireless networks

The applications of wireless local area networks (WLAN’s) are highly accepted by mobile terminals (MT’s) due to their high transmission bandwidth and reduced costs. However, in such high speed networking platforms, there is a possibility of unnecessary handover failure (UHF) due to limited coverage of WLAN’s. Therefore, the given paper provides a multi-criteria hysteresis vertical handover decision (MCHVD) approach for wireless systems in order to minimize handover failure by analysing and validating its performance with conventional received signal strength (RSS) scheme of source and target cells. Using OPNET simulator, the proposed approach is tested over 60 samples, which are divided equally among networks such as Wi-Fi, Worldwide Interoperability for Microwave Access (WiMAX), and Universal Mobile Telecommunication System (UMTS) based on parameters like G power as 0.8, threshold energy limit as 0.05%, and confidence interval as 95%, thereby keeping the maximum accepted error as 0.05 and beta as 0.2. An independent sample T-test is done, which reveals that the probability of handover failure (p) is 0.01 (p < 0.05), which is found to be statistically significant in the MCHVD approach when compared with the conventional RSS scheme. The results show that the handover failure rate for MCHVD is significantly lower than that for conventional RSS-based methods with respect to 20 iterations. © 2024, The Author(s), under exclusive licence to Bharati Vidyapeeth's Institute of computer Applications and Management.

This research article proposes a new eye-hand coordination assessment tool that was created using Python. The application utilizes the Pygame module to develop the graphical user interface (GUI) to display objects. The tool integrates visual information by utilizing an image background and dynamically positioned eye-shaped objects, resulting in an engaging user experience. The utilization of pseudo-randomized coordinates, created by the Random library, enhances the unpredictability of object placement, hence increasing the level of complexity in the assessment. The Time module is utilized to analyze time-related occurrences, facilitating precise recording of response times during user engagements. An appropriate platform for the evaluation is provided by a GUI window with dimensions of 1200 × 600 pixels. This allows for smooth presentation of feedback and metrics. The wide variety of performance data, such as response time, accuracy, x-axis and y-axis offsets, and the number of tests, enables a quantitative evaluation of eye-hand coordination abilities. Results are stored on the console, enabling immediate feedback and further analysis. These findings indicate that those with quicker response times generally achieve greater levels of accuracy, offering vital understanding of the relationship between speed and precision. © The Author(s), under exclusive license to Springer Nature Singapore Pte Ltd. 2024.

The application of artificial intelligence technology in Internet of Vehicles(lov)has attracted great research interests with the goal of enabling smart transportation and traffic ***,concerns have been raised over the security and privacy of the tons of traffic and vehicle *** this regard,Federated Learning(FL)with privacy protection features is considered a highly promising ***,in the FL process,the server side may take advantage of its dominant role in model aggregation to steal sensitive information of users,while the client side may also upload malicious data to compromise the training of the global *** existing privacy-preserving FL schemes in IoV fail to deal with threats from both of these two sides at the same *** this paper,we propose a Blockchain based Privacy-preserving Federated Learning scheme named BPFL,which uses blockchain as the underlying distributed framework of *** improve the Multi-Krum technology and combine it with the homomorphic encryption to achieve ciphertext-level model aggregation and model filtering,which can enable the verifiability of the local models while achieving ***,we develop a reputation-based incentive mechanism to encourage users in IoV to actively participate in the federated learning and to practice *** security analysis and performance evaluations are conducted to show that the proposed scheme can meet the security requirements and improve the performance of the FL model.

With the increasing complexity and sophistication of cyber threats, the demand for effective anomaly detection mechanisms in network security has grown substantially. This research focuses on the utilization of deep learning (DL) to detect anomalies in networks, implementing and analyzing three distinct models of deep learning-based classifiers. The classifiers include a binary classification model, a multiclass classification model with proportionality classification, and a multiclass classification model with exclusion strategies. The efficacy of these models is evaluated through cross-validation runs and testing on data from a database parallel to that of its training. The binary classification model serves as the baseline, distinguishing between normal and anomalous network behavior. The multiclass classification model with proportionality classification extends the binary approach by categorizing anomalies into multiple classes with consideration for their proportional representation. On the other hand, the multiclass classification model with exclusion strategies refines anomaly detection by explicitly excluding certain patterns from classification, enhancing the model's specificity. The research methodology involves the development of deep learning-based classifiers, the collection of network data for training, and rigorous evaluation through cross-validation techniques. Additionally, the models are tested on a separate dataset to assess their generalization capabilities in real-world scenarios. The outcomes of this research contribute to the understanding of DL applications in network anomaly detection, providing insights into the strengths and limitations of different classifier strategies. © 2024 IEEE.

A state-dependent discrete memoryless multiple access channel is considered to model an integrated sensing and communication system, where two transmitters wish to convey messages to a receiver while simultaneously estimating the state parameter sequences through echo signals. In particular, the sensing state parameters are assumed to be correlated with the channel state. In this setup, improved inner and outer bounds for capacity-distortion region are derived. The inner bound is based on an achievable scheme that combines message cooperation and joint compression of past transmitted codewords and echo signals at each transmitter, resulting in unified cooperative communication and sensing. The outer bound is based on the ideas of dependence balance for communication rate, genie-aided state estimator and rate-limited constraints on sensing distortion. The proposed inner and outer bounds are proved to improve the state-of-the-art bounds. Finally, numerical examples are provided to demonstrate that our new inner and outer bounds strictly improve the existing results. © 1963-2012 IEEE.

Defect classification helps ensure the quality and reliability of semiconductor devices. Even a minor defect can lead to significant performance issues or failures in electronic components. Moreover, a recurring issue in this field is the identification of minute fault patterns, frequently measuring just a few μ m in size, and pixels among enormous volumes of high-resolution imaging. In this paper, proposed the improved Faster Region-Based Convolutional Neural Network (R-CNN) by utilizing the Res2Net model can assign the backbone of the proposed model. The model can train and validating on WM811 K dataset. The dataset contains imbalance classes in the presented categories. Initially the data-augmentation technique is employed to create the synthetic data, and it solve the classes imbalance issue. Subsequently Build the Convolutional Neural Network (CNN) foe classify the categories of the defects by using the extracted features. The Res2Net is effectively extract the various features and the feature pyramid network is used to fuse the extracted information. The proposed method is evaluated and compared with various existing methods and metrices such as Accuracy of 97.86 %, precision of 96.50%, Recall of 96.80% and F1-score of 97.85% and the methods are namely Deep Convolutional Neural Network for Wafer Defect Identification (DCNN-WDI), ShuffleNet-v2-CNN and Transfer Learning Using Faster R-CNN. © 2024 IEEE.

the primary purpose is to investigate the possibility of utilizing quantum algorithms in order to improve the error rate of quantum computing devices. The Components and Procedures: We gathered twenty samples and divided them into two distinct groups. Novel Quantity Computational Algorithms are included in Group 1, while the Deutsch Jozsa algorithm is included in Group 2. In Group 1, there are ten samples, and in Group 2, there are also ten samples. The G power is one hundred percent, and the Alpha and Beta values are 0.05 and 0.2 individually. End Result: A high error rate of 55.6% was created by the Novel Quantity computational approach that was proposed, in comparison to the Deutsch Jozsa algorithm, which produced a rate of 48.8%. As a consequence of the results, it is clear that there was not a significant statistical difference between the two groups, and the p value is 0.2. This demonstrates that the hypothesis is correct, and it is accomplished by the utilization of an independent sample T test. The mean error rate detection is 2 standard deviations. Therefore, the error rate of the Novel Quantity computational method is significantly higher than the error rate of the Deutsch Jozsa algorithm. This is the conclusion that can be drawn from the findings. © 2024 IEEE.
