Recent advancements in knowledge graph question answering (KGQA) have shown promise, yet existing methods often fail to align with human reasoning patterns. This study proposes HD-PORT (hop-level direct preference optimization for knowledge graph reasoning with trees), a novel approach that combines Monte Carlo Tree Search (MCTS) with hop-level direct preference optimization (HDPO) for KGQA tasks. MCTS simulates human-like reasoning by exploring multiple inference paths in knowledge graphs, generating interpretable reasoning chains and rich hop-level preferences. HDPO then leverages these preferences for model optimization, addressing the limitations of traditional supervised learning and existing DPO methods that focus on overall solution preferences. By optimizing preferences at each reasoning step, HD-PORT more closely mirrors human problem-solving strategies. Experimental results on benchmark datasets demonstrate that HD-PORT significantly outperforms state-of-the-art methods in both accuracy and interpretability, particularly for complex, multi-hop reasoning tasks. © 2025 IEEE.

Multi-View Few-Shot Reasoning for Emerging Entities in Knowledge Graphs

A knowledge graph (KG) is a form of representing knowledge of the objective world. With the expansion of knowledge, KGs frequently incorporate new entities, which often possess limited associated data, known as few-shot features. Addressing the missing knowledge for these emerging entities is crucial practically, but there are significant challenges due to data scarcity. Previously developed methods based on knowledge graph embedding (KGE) and graph neural networks (GNNs) focusing on instance-level KGs are confronted with challenges of data scarcity and model simplicity, rendering them inapplicable to reasoning tasks in few-shot scenarios. To tackle these issues, we propose a multi-view few-shot KG reasoning method for emerging entities. The primary focus of our method lies in resolving the problem of link prediction for emerging entities with limited associated triples from multiple perspectives. Distinct from previous methods, our approach initially abstracts a concept-view KG from the conventional instance-view KG, enabling the formulation of commonsense rules. Additionally, we employ the aggregation of multi-hop subgraph features to enhance the representation of emerging entities. Furthermore, we introduce a more efficient cross-domain negative sampling strategy and a multi-view triple scoring function based on commonsense rules. Our experimental evaluations highlight the effectiveness of our method in few-shot contexts, demonstrating its robustness and adaptability in both cross-shot and zero-shot scenarios, significantly outperforming existing models in these challenging settings. © 2015 IEEE.

The burgeoning complexity of communication necessitates a high demand for security. Access control encryption is a promising primitive to meet the security demand but the bulk of its constructions rely on formulating the access control policy with identities. Attribute-based access control policy in attribute-based encryption (ABE) is known to be more expressive without relying on enumerating identities. We propose a generic framework to build attribute-based access control encryption from ciphertext-policy ABE. Our instantiations prioritize different emphases on expressiveness and efficiency. The first instantiation supports multi-valued AND-gate access control structures, while the second supports the linear-secret-sharing access structure. Both are prototyped with efficiency validated empirically. © 2024 IEEE.

To address the low-voltage, high-current requirements in hydrogen production applications, a virtual 48-pulse three-phase rectifier is proposed, and achieves the equivalent performance of four parallel 12-pulse rectifiers (12-PR). The proposed approach builds upon the conventional 12-PR design and incorporates novel Asymmetric Current Injection Units (ACIU). The ACIU is installed on the DC side of the AC-DC converter, generating a specific current at the DC link to modulate and enhance the operating modes of the 12-PR. Consequently, the 12-pulse is extended to 48, resulting in an almost sinusoidal input current with a Total Harmonic Distortion (THD) of 3.2% and an output current with a ripple rate (RR) of 2.3%, thus significantly improving power quality. Furthermore, the asymmetric design of the current injection units eliminates the need for a phase-shifting transformer. The efficacy of the proposed rectifier for electrolytic hydrogen production is validated using a 2.2 kW experimental prototype. © 1986-2012 IEEE.

Reward acts as a signal to guide the agent's learning process in Reinforcement Learning (RL), evaluating and assigning rewards to the agent's actions based on their alignment with goals. Designing reward is challenging in multi-agent environment such as StarCraft II benchmark since agents face credit allocation and role adaptation problems. Recent studies have successfully exploited the language understanding and reasoning capabilities of large language models (LLMs) to learn manipulation tasks. Impressed by the remarkable power of LLMs, this paper employs LLMs as role-specific reward designer for playing StarCraft II, making rewards more flexible and task-oriented. Firstly, we develop an interactive text and multi-agent RL environment to study real-time strategy generation in StarCraft II. Secondly, we use LLMs to interpret the game situation and understand agent roles from user instructions. Then, by assigning appropriate subtasks, LLMs quantify the completion of these subtasks to generate role-specific rewards. Further, credit assignment problem is addressed by introducing dynamic reward weights in value decomposition method. In StarCraft II maps, experiments show that role-aligned RL agents trained with our framework achieve superior policy performance, and win rate results demonstrates the effectiveness of our approach in decision-making for micromanagement and long-term planning. © 2025 IEEE.

Researchers have recently created several deep learning strategies for various tasks, and facial recognition has made remarkable progress in employing these techniques. Face recognition is a noncontact, nonobligatory, acceptable, and harmonious biometric recognition method with a promising national and social security future. The purpose of this paper is to improve the existing face recognition algorithm, investigate extensive data-driven face recognition methods, and propose a unique automated face recognition methodology based on generative adversarial networks (GANs) and the center symmetric multivariable local binary pattern (CS-MLBP). To begin, this paper employs the center symmetric multivariant local binary pattern (CS-MLBP) algorithm to extract the texture features of the face, addressing the issue that C2DPCA (column-based two-dimensional principle component analysis) does an excellent job of removing the global characteristics of the face but struggles to process the local features of the face under large samples. The extracted texture features are combined with the international features retrieved using C2DPCA to generate a multifeatured face. The proposed method, GAN-CS-MLBP, syndicates the power of GAN with the robustness of CS-MLBP, resulting in an accurate and efficient face recognition system. Deep learning algorithms, mainly neural networks, automatically extract discriminative properties from facial images. The learned features capture low-level information and high-level meanings, permitting the model to distinguish among dissimilar persons more successfully. To assess the proposed technique’s GAN-CS-MLBP performance, extensive experiments are performed on benchmark face recognition datasets such as LFW, YTF, and CASIA-WebFace. Giving to the findings, our method exceeds state-of-the-art facial recognition systems in terms of recognition accuracy and resilience. To identify the best beam pair in IEEE 802,11ad Wireless Local Area Network (WLAN), it is necessary to evaluate every potential pair's spectrum responsiveness and Signal-to-noise Ratio (SNR). During beam monitoring, nevertheless, the pilot expenditure associated with SNR or channels predictions have been successfully minimized. Therefore, it is crucial to reduce the aided pilot in beam monitoring. In this study, we present a methodology for IEEE 802,11ad WLAN performance and latency optimization called Compressive Sector Selection and Channel Estimation (CSS-CE). 60 GHz transmissions suffer from scarce channel in beams synchronization. Thus, to lower the sample rate, Compressed Sensing (CS) is used. The next step is to recreate the compressed data utilizing Orthogonal Pairing Pursuit (OPP). Because different antenna sectors share similar spatial characteristics, compressive sensing typically probes portions of antenna sector areas. Next, the most suitable region is chosen to meet the additional transmission's latency as well as throughput limitations. By analyzing vast amounts of observational data through astronomical image analysis, you can gain valuable information about the structure of the universe. This paper presents a new method for clustering astronomical images that uses both spectral and K-means methods and also incorporates linear algebra and optimization principles. We propose a method that combines feature extraction techniques such as the Fourier transform with clustering algorithms to classify celestial objects based on their characteristics. The research examines the effectiveness of spectral clustering and K-means clustering in organizing astronomical images into meaningful groups, taking into account factors such as computer efficiency, clustering accuracy and interpretability. Experimenting with different datasets, including telescope images, we demonstrate the effectiveness of our approach in automating the classification of astronomical objects. Our results reveal insights into the underlying structure of astronomical knowledge and offer promising avenues for future research in computational astronomy. In general, this research advances both the field of astronomy and the application of mathematical methods to image analysis and clustering. © 2025 IEEE.

Smart vehicle applications play a crucial role in intelligent transportation systems, enabling sensor-equipped vehicles to establish dynamic networks for efficient collection, sharing, and aggregation. This significantly enhances road security and efficiency by transmitting crucial information to traffic authorities. However, partial research on certificateless aggregation signcryption (CLAS) scheme reveals an intriguing phenomenon where each proposed scheme consistently exhibits numerous security vulnerabilities, particularly susceptible to public key replacement attacks. To address these challenges, this paper proposes a blockchain-assisted certificateless aggregation sign-cryption scheme (BACLAS), leveraging blockchain technology to securely store users' public key on a distributed ledger and prevent public key replacement attacks effectively. Furthermore, it is a provably secure communication scheme for real-world Vehicle-to-Infrastructure (V2I) communication while addressing practical security concerns. The BACLAS scheme ensures security in terms of existential unforgeability against adaptive chosen message attacks (EUF-CMA) and indistinguishability against adaptive chosen ciphertext attacks (IND-CCA2) based on the hardness assumption of the elliptic curve discrete logarithm problem and computational Diffie-Hellman problem in the random oracle model. The proposed scheme effectively reduces computational costs and time consumption, resulting in a significant reduction of the computation burden ranging from 50.02% to 88.28% compared to other competitive schemes. Moreover, it successfully addresses the key-escrow problem, thereby achieving enhanced security properties. © 2014 IEEE.

The quality of air and water is essential for human health, environmental sustainability, and ecosystem balance. However, pollution from industrial activities, urbanization, and agricultural practices has made effective environmental monitoring a global priority. Traditional monitoring methods, which rely on manual sampling and laboratory analysis, are often time-consuming and lack real-time capabilities. This paper presents a Smart Environmental Monitoring (SEM) system leveraging IoT and sensor technology to monitor air and water quality in real time using two key sensors: the MQ135 for Air Quality Index (AQI) and the pH sensor for Water Quality Index (WQI). By focusing on these two critical parameters, the SEM system offers a streamlined yet robust solution for assessing environmental quality. The system collects data continuously, transmits it to a cloud platform for processing, and employs machine learning algorithms to forecast future pollution trends. A user-friendly dashboard displays real-time AQI and WQI levels, historical trends, and predictive insights, empowering users to respond proactively to environmental risks. Deployment results demonstrate the SEM system's capability in detecting pollution patterns, identifying high-risk areas, and predicting pollution spikes during peak traffic and in industrial zones. Comparative analysis with traditional monitoring highlights the SEM system's superior accuracy, scalability, and predictive abilities. Although the SEM system has higher initial setup costs, its operational efficiency and long-term benefits in mitigating environmental risks make it a sustainable choice for public health and environmental management. © 2025 IEEE.
