Electrical properties and thermally stable property of lead-free BNT-BT-KNN ceramics at the morphotropic phase boundary region

Lead-free BNT-BT based ceramics exhibit significant potential for achieving high piezoelectric performance. However, it is an effective strategy to achieve a morphotropic phase boundary (MPB) region with good thermal stability remains challenging. Herein, the incorporation of K0.5Na0.5NbO3 into the Bi0.5Na0.5TiO3-BaTiO3 binary system was explored, leading to a significant enhancement in both piezoelectric performance and thermal stability. The ternary BNT-BT-KNN ceramic system was systematically investigated with respect to its phase diagram, crystal structure, electrical properties, and relaxation behavior. It was observed that both the grain size and domain size gradually decrease as the KNN content increases. Remarkable electromechanical coupling factor (kp = 0.217), exceptionally high piezoelectric properties (d33 = 105 pC/N), and improved (Td = 164 °C) were achieved at BNT-BT-0.01KNN ceramics. The phase diagram of BNT-BT-KNN has been established, offering a comprehensive roadmap for the development of high-performance piezoelectric ceramics with enhanced piezoelectric responses. Unintentional deaths occur at a very high rate in developing countries. Curved roads have significantly more fatalities than straight roads. This occurs mainly on U-turns, hairnin turns, and narrow mountain roads. Drivers in this position cannot see the vehicle approaching from the opposite direction. As a result, thousands of people are killed in car accidents every year. The best way to avoid further accidents is to alert the car driver approaching from the side. Place the ultrasonic range detection sensor on one side of the road before the bend and the light indicator system on the opposite side after the bend. When a vehicle approaches from afar, an ultrasonic sensor on one side of the road sends a signal to the other side of the road via a light system. In response to a warning, the driver may stop the car until the other vehicle has passed. A buzzer will also be used to warn the driver of the car that is approaching. © 2023 IEEE.

Design and Performance Evaluation of a Flexible Microstrip Patch Antenna with Polyimide Protection for Wearable Applications

In this paper, an optimized flexible Microstrip Patch Antenna (MPA) for wearable applications is introduced, particularly characterized by its design concepts of scalable design and comprehensive performance evaluation. The proposed antenna leverages the mechanical flexibility of a leather substrate, complemented by polyimide layers on the upper and lower surfaces of the copper patch, enhancing both structural integrity and electromagnetic performance. The design is optimized for the operation at 2.4 GHz, ensuring durability and stability even under dynamic bending conditions. Various critical performance metrics, such as resonance frequency, bandwidth, return loss, Voltage Standing Wave Ratio (VSWR), Specific Absorption Rate (SAR), and gain, are evaluated experimentally and through simulation across bending angles of 0–90◦. Results show that the antenna can reliably operate in an extreme bending scenario while having a resonant frequency near 2.44 GHz with a return loss (S11) less than −20 dB up to 60◦ bending. At approximately 31 MHz bandwidth stability is preserved, and the VSWR is less than 1.2, thus the impedance matching is effective. Further gain measurements are also made under deformation, which further confirms the stable performance and thus reliability of the wearable application. Additionally, SAR analysis is conducted to ensure the antenna’s compliance with electromagnetic exposure safety limits. The maximum SAR value of 0.516 W/kg remains well within FCC (1.6 W/kg) and ICNIRP (2.0 W/kg) standards, confirming safe radiation levels. Polyimide shielding improves durability, reduces interference, and minimizes backward radiation, making the design ideal for Wireless Body Area Networks (WBANs) and biomedical monitoring. © 2025, Electromagnetics Academy. As Internet of Things (IoT) devices become more common, there is a greater need for energy-efficient solutions that make devices more self-sufficient and battery life longer. Internet of Things (IoT) devices must be able to use the least amount of power possible in order to work as efficiently as possible and require less upkeep. This study looks at many things, including software, hardware, and system-level optimizations. It gives an overview of low-power design methods mainly for IoT devices. This research shows a low-power, low-cost RISC-V processor with a mixed encryption accelerator that is designed for use in the Internet of Things (IoT). It is quick and safe for this processor to protect and decrypt data sent between IoT devices. Ultra-low-power microcontrollers, sensors that use less energy and low-power transmission protocols are all seen as tools that could be used to make technology that is aware of power. This research looks into how dynamic power management techniques, power-aware scheduling algorithms, and duty cycling can be used to make the best use of system resources and meet application needs. Internet of Things devices can also switch between active and inactive states smoothly by using sleep modes and wake-up methods. Adaptive power management systems change how devices work based on things like human behavior, load, and environmental conditions in order to get the most energyefficient results. These strategies make it easier for Internet of Things (IoT) systems to be set up successfully in a wide range of businesses. © 2024 IEEE.

A sensor to accurately predict chemical concentrations has been proposed in this research work. Inspired by Metamaterials, the sensor is composed of Complementary Split-Ring Resonators (CSRRs) and utilizes the Machine Learning technique to accurately predict the concentrations. The sensor is designed to maximize the interaction of the Material Under Test (MUT) with the sensitive regions of the CSRRs. The usage of costly and complex fluidic channels and sample containers is avoided by using filter paper for the liquid MUT placement in between the resonators. The proposed sensor is small (2.3 cm × 2.3 cm), simple, employs a low-cost fabrication technique, and offers an alternate sensing mechanism that requires a minimal amount of the MUT. The multiple resonances exhibited by the proposed sensor add to the reliability and accuracy of the sensor. © 2023, Electromagnetics Academy. All rights reserved.

Accurate detection and diagnosis of lung cancer from computed tomography (CT) images play a critical role in improving patient outcomes and reducing mortality rate. Feature extraction techniques are vital in extracting discriminative information from lung CT images for improving the accuracy and efficiency of diagnosis. This paper presents a comprehensive methodology and analysis for evaluating and comparing different feature extraction techniques for the accurate the diagnosis of lung cancer using lung input CT images. The methodology involves the collection and preprocessing of a dataset of lung cancer images using a median filter and the CT input images is segmented to identify a region of interest by applying Thresholding segmentation methods, followed by the analysis of each feature extraction techniques like Gray-Level Co-occurrence Matrix (GLCM), Speed Up Robust Features (SURF), Scale Invariant Feature Transform (SIFT) and Principal component analysis (PCA) to extract relevant features. A dataset comprising lung CT images, including cancerous and non-cancerous cases, is utilized for the evaluation. The feature extraction methodologies are employed to lung CT images for extracting relevant features. The extracted features are quantitatively analysed and evaluated based on statistical measures and performance metrics such as accuracy, precision, recall and F1 score. This helps to find an optimum feature extraction technique which is used for accurate diagnosis of lung cancer. The results demonstrate that all four feature extraction techniques show a promising outcome in the evaluation of CT images for the identification of lung cancer. In the conventional method of the banking system, whenever someone visits a bank to access the lockers, there will be a security guard appointed by the bank to ensure that the customer accessing his/her locker is authorized and only accessing his/her locker. Before entering the locker room to access their lockers, the person needs to enter the logbook available at the bank. The proposed system is a data logging system with Near Field communication (NFC) capability. NFC is used to ensure a person's authentication and logging details. The NFC reader is installed at the entrance to bank lockers. Each customer who wants to utilize a locker is given an NFC tag, and the suggested system saves the customer's basic information as well as the unique NFC tag id assigned to each customer in a MySQL database. The authenticated individual must display the NFC tag near the reader. The reader detects the tag value and compares it to the database. If the customer is authenticated, the electromagnetic locking system will unlock the locker room door. Along with the NFC tag id, additional logging data such as the check-in time and date, as well as the customer's basic information, are simultaneously and automatically logged into a separate database table. Another reader can be installed inside the locker room to record the customers' check-out date and time in a manner similar to the one described above. Automated, authenticated-based entries are created by the system. The customer access time in the locker room can also be calculated with its help. © 2024 IEEE.

Second order triple band waveguide band-pass filter with adjustable centre frequency and 3-dB bandwidth

This paper presents, a novel and simple resonator structure based second order triple band waveguide band-pass filter with adjustable centre frequency and 3-dB bandwidth. The planar insert consists of a circular shape etched part in which three stubs is placed. Three asymmetrical stub length and width are used to control three resonant frequency and 3-dB bandwidth independently. The insert is placed into the transverse plane of the WR-90 waveguide. To achieve second order band-pass filter response two symmetrical resonators is placed at an optimised distance of 8.99 mm. Simulation and optimisation analysis of the proposed filter is carried-out using CST Studio Suite (v23). To validate the 3D model, planar insert and WR-90 waveguide are fabricated individually and inserted manually. The measured results shows triple band bandpass filter characteristics having centre frequencies f₀₁ = 8.44 GHz, f₀₂ = 9.98 GHz and f₀₃ = 11.51 GHz with 3-dB bandwidth of 0.78, 0.12 and 0.3 GHz. The insertion loss of the measured filter is 0.35, 0.8 and 0.55 dB. The in band return loss of the proposed filter are better than 12 dB. © 2024 Informa UK Limited, trading as Taylor & Francis Group.
