Bidirectional MDRZ Downstream and NRZ OOK Upstream SS-WDM RoFSO communication System

A cost-effective spectrum sliced wavelength division multiplexing radio over free space (SS-WDM RoFSO) full duplex communication system architecture has been proposed and analyzed. For the downlink, a 10 Gbits/s high spectrally efficient and amplitude maintaining modified duobinary return to zero (MDRZ) modulated the filtered slices from the light source. The free space optical (FSO) channel was modeled by the well-known Gamma-Gamma model and was further subjected to moderate rain attenuation conditions. Four FSO transceivers were used to mitigate against laser beam scintillation, geometrical losses and rain attenuation. For uplink, a reflective semiconductor optical amplifier (RSOA) was used both as a modulator and an amplifier. Its amplitude squeezing effect was used to erase the information in the MDRZ modulated downstream seeding wavelength for uplink transmission of 10 Gbits/s NRZ OOK signals. At a bit error rate (BER) of 1.262 × 10 - 9 $1.262\times 10^{-9}$, our proposed architecture revealed that 10 Gbits/s symmetric SS-WDM RoFSO can achieve 4.167 km of free space transmission. Power penalty of approximately 0.2 and 3 dB was achieved for downstream and upstream, respectively, which assures the feasibility of the proposed architecture. Such a system is meant to co-exist with the forthcoming fifth generation long-term evolution urban systems. © 2019 Walter de Gruyter GmbH, Berlin/Boston.

This paper presents an energy harvesting interface for simultaneous extraction of dual-polarity thermoelectric generators (TEG) and photovoltaic cells (PV). The reconfigurable buck-boost converter topology is employed to convert positive or negative input voltages into positive output voltages. Compared to the single-source mode, the proposed double-stacking resonant mode (DSRM) increases the conversion efficiency by 5.6% with the same number of switch transitions for synchronous extraction of negative polarity TEG and PV. Utilizing adaptive impedance matching technology, the proposed adaptive maximum power point tracking controller achieves tracking efficiencies >9 0% in an ultra-wide range of source resistance (10-1500 Ω). Implementation of the converter is carried out in the 0.18 μ ∼m process. As demonstrated by simulation results, the peak conversion efficiency of 88.3% is achieved in the DSRM. © 2024 IEEE.

This research proposes a real-time monitoring system for industrial processes aimed at reducing electricity consumption and costs while prioritizing cyber-security. The focus is on creating a Temperature Management System (TMS) with robust security measures, achieved through the implementation of the Transport Layer Security (TLS) protocol to establish encrypted and secure communication channels. By employing TLS, the system ensures that components such as sensors, actuators, and the central control unit can communicate confidential, authenticated, and tamper-resistant data. Temperature and fire parameters are measured using Thermocoupled K-type temperature sensors, with data communicated to a microprocessor and mobile device via a 4G module. All components are connected to a 32-bit microcontroller to enhance safety and minimize risks in potentially hazardous industrial environments. The proposed system is designed to address various tasks in industrial locations, including humidity measurement, fire detection, and equipment control. Integration with the Internet of Things (IoT) improves firefighting capabilities and emergency responses for fire brigades. Overall, this approach offers a comprehensive solution for managing, monitoring, and responding to critical circumstances in industrial environments, contributing to enhanced safety and security. © 2024 IEEE.

The utilization of orthogonal frequency division multiplexing (OFDM) in wireless communication systems has become widely popular due to its effectiveness in mitigating frequency selective fading and enhancing spectral efficiency. This study introduces a RADCOM (Radar communication) system utilizing OFDM, incorporating digital beamforming to enhance its performance. Through simulation results, the proposed system surpasses conventional OFDM-based RADCOM systems in terms of bit error rate (BER) and signalto-noise ratio (SNR) across various distances by amplifying the SNR of received signals. Moreover, it demonstrates superior resistance to multi-path fading and interference, suggesting its applicability in diverse RADCOM scenarios. © 2024 IEEE.

The requirements of the wireless communication system have progressed consistently over previous several years. The growing fame and utilization of wireless multimedia approaches have driven the advancement of the wireless system. The fifth generation (5G) wireless communication has evolved to serve users with enhanced proficiency, low latency, reliable communication, and lesser battery exhausts. The non-Orthogonal Multiple Access (NOMA) technique is an efficient multiple access scheme to fulfil the requirements of a 5G mobile system. NOMA permits the allocation of multiple users with similar frequency, code and time domain multiplexing. NOMA enables a remarkable enhancement in system performance as well as the ability to connect devices. This paper presents, a Zadoff Chu non-orthogonal spreading sequence to enhance the NOMA systems performance. Here transmitting symbols are precoded using the Zadoff Chu spreading sequence. Simulation results represent the enhancement in the bit error rate (BER) performance of the NOMA system over fading channels compared to the traditional NOMA system. © 2024 IEEE.

Emotions are very valuable natural human characteristics. Emotion recognition is frequently utilized in human-computer interfaces (HCI) to aid individuals with impairments. Electroencephalogram (EEG) signals are essential for identifying emotional states, as they rapidly reflect changes in brain activity. In this work, the usefulness of the Variational mode decomposition (VMD) for detecting diverse emotions within EEG is explored. VMD partition the EEG into band-limited intrinsic mode functions (BIMFs) and extracts the bandwidth of amplitude modulation (BWAM), bandwidth of frequency modulation (BWFM), and spectral features from the BIMFs. The extracted features are fed to a grid search cross-validation (GSCV) optimized support vector machine(SVM) classifier, which identifies different emotional states. When compared to other published works, the experimental findings of the proposed approach show superior emotion recognition (ER) performance on the SEED, SEED-IV, and DEAP datasets. The proposed emotion recognition system achieved maximum accuracies of 95.8%, 95.6%, and 94.1% on these databases, respectively, surpassing the state-of-the-art (SoA) performance. © Bharati Vidyapeeth's Institute of Computer Applications and Management 2025.

Electricity is critical for the progress of livelihood in many Indian cities. However, there are numerous issues with power loss, often caused by obstacles falling on transmission lines or faults in the lines. Additionally, under voltage and over voltage pose significant concerns as they can lead to equipment damage. Unfortunately, these voltage issues often go unreported to the centralized body, such as KSEB in Kerala, as people have to manually call the authorities. This method is not only inconvenient but also ineffective, especially during nighttime power outages when reporting becomes challenging. Moreover, connecting with KSEB can be problematic due to the high volume of calls, leading to server connection issues. When line breakages occur, KSEB workers must manually locate the fault, a cumbersome process. To address these challenges, we need a method to swiftly identify faults in the power lines. By monitoring parameters like voltage and current flow using sensors, we can detect under voltage and over voltage situations. The collected data can then be analyzed using a microcontroller and transmitted to the relevant authorities. Additionally, implementing a location tracking system by assigning post numbers to modules can facilitate accurate fault localization. By pinpointing the fault location, the identification process becomes more efficient. © 2024 IEEE.

High quality factor inductor is the prime requirement of any RFIC design. The architecture proposed in this paper is multi-layered half-Turn on-chip inductor. To improve the Q factor and performance of the on-chip inductor each metal segment of the inductor is divided in to two halves and placed innovatively into two different layers. The proposed technique used to reduce the effective parasitic capacitance and current crowding effect to improves the quality factor. The simulation results show improvement of 23.12% in quality factor and 18.94% in inductance compared to conventional stacked inductor by keeping the same area of 60μm x 60μm. The proposed inductor is implemented and simulated by using EM simulation software SONNET for obtaining Q factor and Inductance. The Proposed inductor design can work up to 5.5 GHz frequency range and suitable for high frequency RF applications. © 2024 IEEE.

This paper presents a microfluidic sensor utilizing a substrate integrated waveguide self-diplexer antenna for simultaneous detection of adulteration of mustard oil with groundnut and coconut oils. The self-diplexing feature is achieved by loading a diagonal rectangular-shaped slot on the top metallic plane of the antenna. The diplexer resonates at two distinct frequencies, 4.53 GHz and 6.01 GHz, with a minimum isolation > 35 dB between the two antenna elements. Two microfluidic pockets, made from PDMS, are positioned on the antenna. One pocket is used for the detection of coconut oil adulteration in mustard oil and the other groundnut oil adulteration in mustard oil. The interaction of these oils with the electromagnetic fields causes shifts in the resonant frequencies of the antenna. The sensor enables both simultaneous detection of two different oils and individual liquid sensing. The frequency shifts observed are 840 MHz for pure mustard oil. The sensor achieves high sensitivities of 2.19 GHz/RIU for coconut oil adulteration in mustard oil and 2.77 GHz/RIU for groundnut oil adulteration in mustard oil. These features make the sensor well-suited for detection of adulteration of oils. © 2024 IEEE.
