Speech Emotion Recognition (SER) has recently grabbed huge attention due to its application in Human-Computer Interface, human-robot interaction, assessment of human behavior, virtual reality, and mostly noteworthy high AI-driven environments. It's not that easy to extract emotion from human physiological information. Previously, several attempts have been made by researchers to study SER for different purposes with various audio feature variations in several approaches such as SVM, MLP, CNN, LSTM, and many other approaches. Most of the approaches use audio databases RAVDESS, IMOCAP, EMO-DB, etc. In this paper, we have focused on improving the accuracy of emotion detection from speech most precisely. For this purpose, we've used three datasets RAVDESS, TESS, and CREMA-D, and merged these to form a large dataset. A hybrid model using CNN and BiLSTM deep learning network is proposed to recognize eight emotions happy, calm, sad, surprised, neutral, angry, disgust, and fear. The model is trained, validated, and tested using three features: Zero Crossing Rate (ZCR), Root Mean Square Energy (RMSE), and Mel Frequency Cepstral coefficient (MFCC) extracted from raw datasets. After extensive experiments, the proposed CNN-BiLSTM model achieved the highest accuracy of 97.8% using three merged datasets. © 2024 IEEE.

We are in the process of developing a highly adaptable system aimed at optimizing task management within the realms of road traffic and infrastructure health management. Our cutting-edge solution leverages the capabilities of piezoelectric materials to accurately gauge the weight of vehicles, presenting a more efficient alternative to conventional weighbridges. By incorporating this technology, we significantly reduce the complexity associated with weighbridge installations, making them more straightforward and requiring minimal space and infrastructure. Moreover, our system facilitates real-time weight measurements, enabling its utilization across a myriad of applications including but not limited to enhancing signaling systems, automating overload detection, and monitoring the structural integrity of roads and bridges. © 2024 IEEE.

A comparative study of collision avoidance medium access control protocols in internet-of-things

In wireless communications, different collision avoidance medium access control (MAC) protocols are available to avoid contention, but none of them are accepted as standard protocols to fulfil the requirements of the internet of things (IoT). So, there is a need for well-defined MAC protocols to optimise the channel access mechanism. Therefore, this paper presents the fundamentals of IoT, types of collisions, features of IoT-based communication technologies, and a comparative study of collision avoidance MAC protocols in IoT. This paper first outlines the system model of IoT networks based on a comprehensive study of the reported literature. Following that, types of collisions are discussed. Further, we have provided a comprehensive study of ALOHA, CSMA, CSMA/CA, and hybrid MAC protocols, issues in MAC protocols, and their state-of-the-art solutions to avoid collisions and to provide higher throughput. Finally, future research direction for IoT has been highlighted to underline potential real-time IoT applications. Copyright © 2024 Inderscience Enterprises Ltd.

The reduction of harmful greenhouse gas emissions associated with the transportation industry is greatly aided by the electrification of vehicles. However, the disparity between supply and demand for electricity is chaotic;only a production/consumption balance could bring the two sides together. To address the enormous energy waste caused by problems with electricity storage, the energy flow must be modified. As a result, the real storage capacity constraint has only recently been addressed by the development of electric car batteries. In fact, they are employed in this study as a mechanism of energy storage and retrieval. The purpose of this work is to conduct a literature review on the optimization of energy consumption, as well as the distribution of an electric car. The page offers a collection of data on how temperature, traffic conditions, and the attributes of an electric car translate into energy use. Studies' conclusions that were published in various journals were contrasted. The literature review enabled the development of a list that can be used as a knowledge repository on the energy consumption of electric vehicles, self-power production by electric vehicles, and driving range (DR) of electric vehicles. © 2023 IEEE.

When it comes to hyperspectral image-based object detection, image quality is one of the most significant variables to consider. Evaluation of hyperspectral image quality based on the ground truth is necessary for authenticity. In actuality, however, it might be quite challenging to locate the truth of the matter. The evaluation of image quality is carried out using full reference measures, such as MSE (Mean Square Error) and PSNR (Peak Signal to Noise Ratio). In contrast to MSE and PSNR, two additional full reference metrics known as SSIM (Structured Similarity Indexing Method) and FSIM (Feature Similarity Indexing Method) have been developed in recent years with the intention of comparing the structural and feature similarity measures between reconstructed and original HS images on the basis of perception. The comparison of several image quality criteria is the major focus of this article in order to provide a complete ***, when viewed from the standpoint of representation, SSIM and FSIM are normalized, although MSE and PSNR are not. When viewed from the viewpoint of semantics, MSE and PSNR only give the absolute error, whereas SSIM and PSNR give the error based on perception as well as error based on saliency. Therefore, the SSIM and FSIM can be considered to be more easily comprehended than the MSE and PSNR. Some other image quality metrics for the hyperspectral image compression such as Bjontegaard Delta PSNR, Maximum Difference, Average Difference, Normalized Quality Index, Normalized Cross-correlation, Structural Content, Normalized Absolute Error and Structural dissimilarity can also use for the analysis. © 2024 IEEE.

Transmission energy consumption analysis using ridge regression in wireless sensor nodes

Wireless sensor nodes and its constitution of energy consumption in transferring sensory data to sink node results in a linear relationship. However, the quasi state of sensors makes over and under estimates of the communicating sensor data. This work proposes a ‘ridge regression wireless data transfer rate’ (RRWDTR) to interpret the energy analysis incorporating optimum route and its energy constituents, which relies on underlying resources. Since nodes are collocated to provide multi-hop communication, the independent variables of event generation are forwarding to a central node associated with sink results in multi-colinearity. The model thus deflates, leading to inaccurate estimates of prediction. RRWDTR uses structural relationship of the node and its resources using ridge regression incorporating characteristics of variance. Simulation of RRWDTR work has been done with penalty coefficient to predict near accurate estimates. Finally, comparison of RRWDTR has been done with linear regression wireless data transfer rate (LRWDTR). Copyright © 2023 Inderscience Enterprises Ltd.

The research introduces an External Metal Deposition (EMD) approach of novel Photonic Crystal Fiber (PCF) sensor operating in near to middle infrared spectrum. It utilizes the phenomenon of Surface Plasmon Resonance (SPR) to enhance the sensor performance as compared to other start- of-art Photonic Crystal Fiber sensors. Its novelty lies in its wide detection range of 1.35-1.41 Refractive Index Unit covering wide range of bio-chemical analytes. Its strong coupling efficiency and enhanced wavelength sensitivity equal to 30,000 nm/RIU and lowest sensor resolution of 3.33×10-6 Refractive Index Unit at an optimal gold thickness of 25 nm provides wider range of detection that broadens its application areas in biomedical, chemical, agricultural, pharmaceutical and food industries. ©2024 IEEE.

The limited availability of clean water worldwide has created a need for its efficient use. IoT systems use application-specific sensors to collect data and analyse it intelligently, connecting the cyber and bodily realms. Smart irrigation systems based on IoT may optimise water-resource use in precision agriculture. This study introduces an open-source smart system that utilises ground parameters such as temperature of soil, soil moisture and ambient factors, in combination with weather prediction data from the Internet, to estimate the irrigation needs of a field. The system's intelligence relies on a sophisticated algorithm that takes into account sensory data and weather prediction characteristics such as precipitation, humidity, air temperature and UV levels for the next period. The system has been created and implemented on a small scale for testing purposes. Sensor data is collected wirelessly through the cloud using web services. A web-based system for information visualisation and decision support offers real-time insights by analysing sensor data and weather forecasts. The article outlines the system and provides a detailed analysis of the information processing outcomes from three weeks of data using the suggested algorithm. The system is operating at full capacity and the prediction outcomes are really promising. © 2024 IEEE.

A study on dual-sense broadband circularly polarised monopole antenna for UWB applications

The proposed work is designed with the embedded of stubs and Parasitic Strips (PSs) under the radiator. An FR4 substrate is used to design the antenna (Εr = 4.4, h = 1.6 mm). The overall size of the antenna is 0.8 λ0 × 0.75 λ0 × 0.04 λ0, where λ0 is the free space wavelength at f0 = 7.5 GHz. Two orthogonal modes are generated with the same magnitude and 90° phase difference over the frequency band. The stubs and strips are used to maintain the EX and EY ratio for better Axial Ratio Bandwidth (ARBW). The measured impedance bandwidth of 7.74 GHz (3.9–11.64 GHz), 99.6%, two ARBW of 4.80 GHz (5.12–9.92 GHz), 63.83% and 0.75 GHz (11.1–11.85 GHz), 6.53% are achieved. The proposed antenna is preferred for the applications of 5.8 GHz ISM band, WiMAX (5.7–5.85 GHz), WLAN (5.2–5.8 GHz), Satellite (7.25–7.75 GHz, 7.9–8.4 GHz) and X-band (8–12 GHz). Using machine learning methods, the project seeks to construct a system that can convert between sign language and spoken language. Step one is to gather a large and varied datasets of sign language motions. Step two is to prepare the data for annotation. The labeled dataset is used to train a Recurrent Neural Network or Convolutional Neural Network, two popular machine learning models. A camera or wearable devices may be used to input sign language into the system. The output is transformed into text by means of the trained model, which anticipates sign motions. To make it more practical, an interface for users may be included. To make the system more accurate and accessible to more people, it is essential to optimize and develop it continuously. User input and community interaction play a big part in this process. Cameras or wearable’s feed sign language into the system, and a trained algorithm anticipates motions and turns them into text. Practical applications may make advantage of user- friendly interfaces. In order to make the sign language translation process more accurate and accessible, we emphasize continuous improvement, user input, and community interaction. © 2024 IEEE.
