Position accuracy is the critical ask of all Global Navigation Satellite Systems (GNSS), but errors like reflection, refraction, signal noise, clock errors, and multipath degrade the range computation between the satellite and the receiver. Incorrect range computation leads to errors in the receiver position. So minimizing the error in the range calculation improves the position accuracy. The differential pseudo-range technique uses two receivers, one of which is positioned at a precisely known location to compute the range error and the other receiver uses this error to improve its position accuracy. This paper explains an experiment conducted at a reference point and other five points within the range from 60 m to 120 m away from the reference point. Computing the accurate positions for those five points using the reference station is the objective of this experiment. The location of the reference point is precisely known and was measured accurately by the Survey of India (SOI). The experiment used the Indian Regional Navigation Satellite System (IRNSS/NavIC) receiver and the differential pseudo-range technique to compute the position error of the five points. © 2023 SAE International. Torsional vibrations pose a significant challenge in various industrial sectors, necessitating effective damping solutions to mitigate their adverse consequences. Mitigating vibrations stands as a fundamental approach to extending the operational lifespan of machinery. This paper presents a comprehensive study on the design and implementation of an integrated dual spiral spring with a rotary hydraulic damper, aimed at attenuating the inertia forces generated by an oscillating nozzle arm within a dual action oscillation gearbox utilized in pesticide sprayers. The research encompasses a detailed investigation into the kinematic linkage design and the determination of the system forces within the gearbox to optimize the damping performance. The theoretical design of the spiral spring is carried out to ascertain the maximum moment it must endure to effectively damp torsional vibrations. The integral components of the dual spiral spring system, including the spiral spring base, retraction lever, and bell crank, are meticulously modeled. Subsequently, a comprehensive analysis of these components is conducted using Ansys Workbench-16.0, a widely recognized tool for mechanical analysis. This research contributes valuable insights and practical solutions to the pressing issue of damping torsional vibrations in dual action oscillation gearboxes for pesticide sprayers. The outcomes presented herein have the potential to not only enhance the operational efficiency and longevity of such equipment but also find application in diverse industrial settings grappling with analogous vibration-related challenges. © The Institution of Engineers (India) 2024.

Experimental and Numerical Investigation of Effect of Melter Temperature and Casting Speed on Pull-In (Concavity) of AA1050 Ingot During Direct Chill Casting

Minimizing the pull-in effect is an important consideration in continuous casting, as it can have a significant impact on the quality of the final product. This paper examines the issue of pull-in defects, specifically concavity, in aluminum alloy rolling ingots during direct chill casting. A study was undertaken to examine how the concavity of the AA1050 rolling ingot is affected by certain parameters of the direct chill process, such as the melting temperature and casting speed. Three different combinations of the melting temperature (690 ℃, 700 ℃ and 715 ℃) and casting speeds (55, 65 and 75 mm/min) were selected, and experimental tests and numerical simulations were conducted on the rolling ingots. Experimental tests and numerical simulation measured the pull-in defect regarding the concavity radius. The results of numerical analysis have been compared with the experimental test results and found a good agreement. It was revealed that there is a significant impact of melting temperature and casting speeds on the concavity of the ingot. The ingots with a 55 mm/min casting speed and a temperature of 700 ℃ showed the lowest concavity. Furthermore, the lowest pull-in radius (21.025 mm) was recorded for AA1050 ingot with a casting speed of 55 mm/min and 700 ℃ melting temperature. © The Institution of Engineers (India) 2024.

Now that the population is growing, the expenditure on basic needs of life is also increasing due to a lack of or less availability of resources. The economy consumed electricity is reaching peaks as its main fuel, coal, is decreasing day by day. Due to this, 90% of the population who are in the middle class, lower middle class, or rural areas are economically poor and are unable to bear the prices. To overcome the financial problems, many researchers have prepared various types of microgrids that generate electricity from various types of flow resources, like hydro, solar, biogas, and air current power stations, whose system is called a compound flow power system. This paper gives a combined review of various research papers that discuss some case studies and some research on various models designed on software like HOMER Pro, how microgrids become economic barriers, optimal power supply solutions with CFPS, distributed and centralized microgrid components, the technical and economic feasibility of EV charging stations, and the analysis of various combinations of power systems at various locations like Bangladesh, Canada, the Republic of Djibouti, China, Indonesia, Sierra Leone, some rural sites in India, and some developing countries. This overview provides a glimpse into the various aspects of CFPS, including fusion approaches, techno-economic analysis, simulation platforms, storage technologies, design specifications, unit sizing methodologies, and control techniques. Further research and analysis in these areas are needed to explore their applications and advancements in CFPS development. The main reason for the study is to analyze and bring various ideas and models of various researchers together on a common platform and make a combined conceptual framework for further proceedings. © 2023, The Author(s).

The present work primarily aims to evaluate the adsorption properties of MXene and its nanocomposite, Fe3O4@MXene, for removing heavy metal ions from industrial wastewater. Two-dimensional (2D) MXene nanosheets were combined with Fe3O4 nanoparticles through a hydrothermal synthesis process to create the Fe3O4@MXene nanocomposite. Characterization revealed that Fe3O4 nanoparticles self-assembled onto MXene sheets, forming a structure that enhanced the 2D structure of MXene, with nanoparticles uniformly distributed throughout the nanosheet network. Performance experiments demonstrated that Fe3O4@MXene nanocomposite significantly outperformed pristine MXene in adsorbing heavy metal ions from wastewater. Notably, Fe3O4@MXene nanocomposite achieved an 83% removal efficiency for Cu ions, highlighting its potential as a highly efficient adsorbent in industrial wastewater treatment. This work underscores the viability of Fe3O4@MXene for heavy metal remediation, marking an important step toward practical environmental applications of MXene-based materials. © The Author(s), under exclusive licence to Springer-Verlag GmbH Germany, part of Springer Nature 2025.

The revolutionary field of natural language processing has broad implications for privacy and safety. This article reviews the wide range of natural language processing uses for privacy protection. Through a systematic literature review, we identify the most important natural language processing approaches employed for various forms of security, such as phishing email detection, cyberthreat analysis, anomaly detection, and privacy-aware text processing. We also discuss the moral issues that must be taken into account while implementing NLP, including defenses against adversarial assaults, good AI protocol, and safeguards for personal data. While examining the possible benefits and hazards of NLP systems, the study emphasizes the significance of responsible and ethical use. The future scope is also discussed to strengthen NLP’s utilization in the domain of privacy and security in data-driven era. Nanostructured SAF-2507 super duplex stainless steel powders were prepared in a Retsch PM-100 planetary ball mill for 20 h at 5:1 and 10:1 ball to powder ratios, respectively. In both the BPR cases, the crystallite sizes reduced, and lattice strain increased with the milling time. The crystallite size, lattice strain, and lattice parameter were determined using the Williamson-Hall equation and the Nelson–Riley technique, respectively. The XRD and SEM results complement the HRTEM data. When the outcomes of 5:1 and 10:1 BPR samples are compared, it is found that the 10:1 BPR works better than the ball milling done with 5:1 BPR in terms of reducing crystallite size, increasing lattice strain, and favoring the austenite phase. The purpose of this work is to determine the stable austenitic phase that is responsible for the production of the dual phase alloy and to optimize the duration of the ball milling process. The current study also discussed the potential effects of an extended milling time on the phases and morphology of SAF-2507 powders. Higher milling times have been shown to support the stabilization of the ferritic phase. © The Institution of Engineers (India) 2024.

Unstructured Numerical Image Dataset Separation (UNIDS) method employing an enhanced unsupervised clustering technique. The objective is to delineate an optimal number of distinct groups within the input grayscale (G-S) image content, utilizing the improved limited iteration agglomerative clustering (iLIAC) clustering technique for the separation and enhancement of picture elements. The UNIDS method is structured into two primary stages: partitioning and validation. In the partitioning stage, the UNIDS method identifies an appropriate number of discrete clusters within the grayscale image using the iLIAC technique, eliminating the need for predetermined procedures. Subsequently, the method evaluates the similarity and deviation among data elements within the same group in the resultant image dataset. Additionally, it assesses the proximity and inters severance among clusters in the outcome of the image dataset through the partitioning process. Empirical results indicate that the UNIDS system excels in the spontaneous identification of an optimal number of discrete clusters within the input G-S image. The system demonstrates superior thickness, reduced deviation among data elements within the same cluster, increased inter-separation, and diminished inter-closeness between cluster elements. Furthermore, empirical analysis establishes the superior performance of the UNIDS approach compared to existing clustering techniques. © The Author(s), under exclusive licence to Springer Science+Business Media, LLC, part of Springer Nature 2024.
