Medical diagnosis can be viewed as a pattern classification problem: based a set of input features the goal is to classify a patient as having a particular disorder or as not having it. Performance of medical diagnosis is typically assessed in terms of sensitivity and specificity. In this paper we introduce a pattern classification system for medical diagnosis that is based on fuzzy logic and utilises weighted training patterns. Adjusting the weights allows to focus either on sensitivity or specificity while not neglecting the other one and hence lends a degree of flexibility to the diagnostic process. In this paper, a fuzzy supervisory indirect learning predictive controller (FsiLPC) is proposed. The controller integrates the concepts of the conventional model based predictive control (MBPC), the controller output error method and the fuzzy rule based system. In contrast to the conventional MBPC, the design of FsiLPC is more generic in terms of model compatibility; the predictive model to be adopted in the scheme can be of any structure. The FsiLPC demonstrates a number of attractive characteristics for industrial implementation. These include flexibility of employing a predictive model, adaptive capability to the variation in the operating conditions, and simplicity of the operating mechanisms. The methodology is thus considered as a potential solution to the control of complex multi-input-multi-output (MIMO) systems. The strategy of the integration is first illustrated through an overview of the general architecture of the controller, followed by descriptions of the individual operating mechanism. Two case studies are investigated to evaluate the performances of the controller. The first case study describes the control of a simple system with non-minimum phase dynamics while the control of a multivariable industrial process of a single screw extruder is detailed in the second case study. The encouraging results stem the interest to further explore the applicability of the proposed controller for industrial uses.

IEEE 802.11 is worldwide implemented being the most widely deployed protocol for wireless local area networks (WLANs). In a realistic environment, WLANs encounter channel fading which causes independent and burst transmission errors which in addition with packet collisions degrade overall performance. In this paper, we present a simple and effective contention window-resetting scheme, named double increment double decrement (DIDD), to improve the performance of the binary exponential backoff (BEB) scheme utilized in IEEE 802.11. Our work becomes important and meaningful since it analyzes and models the error patterns in order to evaluate their potential impact on throughput efficiency and average packet delay performance. Firstly, in view of the fact that this article research area involves the ecology and the spatial data warehouse domain, the research content is the "San Jiang Bing Liu" area geographical distribution of representative plants, in order to effectively organize spatial & non-spatial data and express ecology knowledge, this article combines the computer science with the corresponding principle of landscape ecology (LE), designs the "double rings" spatial data warehouse structure based on level principle spatial combination theory on landscape ecology. And then, for gaining association between research target and Ecosystem, in this article, a group of extracting and forecasting methods are proposed and implemented to foretell whether some kind of plant exists in unknown region. Finally, these methods gave the experimental result by using real data. Therefore, we hold that we provided an effective approach to support knowledge discovering of our project.

A heuristic algorithm for multiple vehicles routing problem with stochastic demand is proposed and the goal is to minimize the total traveling cost. Two-phase method is adopted to deal with this problem. In the first phase, an algorithm is proposed to partition customers into clusters, and the main task of the second phase is to design an effective routing through each cluster of customers to minimize the total expected traveling cost. Both the a priori strategy and the reoptimization strategy are used to obtain the optimal routing. The experiment results indicate that this method can produce solutions of good quality and is an effective algorithm for the multiple vehicles routing problem with stochastic demand

Although computer architectures incorporate fast processing hardware resources, high performance real-time implementation of a complex control algorithm requires an efficient design and software coding of the algorithm so as to exploit special features of the hardware and avoid associated architecture shortcomings. This paper presents an investigation into the analysis and design mechanisms that will lead to reduction in the execution time in implementing real-time control algorithms. The proposed mechanisms are exemplified by means of one algorithm, which demonstrates their applicability to real-time applications. An active vibration control (AVC) algorithm for a flexible beam system simulated using the finite difference (FD) method is considered to demonstrate the effectiveness of the proposed methods. A comparative performance evaluation of the proposed design mechanisms is presented and discussed through a set of experiments.
