In this paper, a comprehensive evaluation method integrating the rough sets with the intuitionistic fuzzy analytic hierarchy process (IFAHP) is proposed, in order to overcome the IFAHP not to accurately ascertain the weight of each attribute in terms of real numbers. This comprehensive evaluation method integrating with the advantages of objective and subjective weighting methods, and it makes up for the shortcomings of these two methods to a certain extent. First, the objective weight of each attribute is calculated using the knowledge granulation of the rough sets;second, a new evaluation function is proposed to improve the IFAHP by transferring the intuitionistic fuzzy number obtained into a real one and to obtain the subjective weight of attributes through normalization;third, the subjective and objective weight values are combined by a weighting coefficient to figure out the combined weight of attributes;finally, the values are fused to calculate the integrated evaluation value, thereby obtaining the ranking result. A numerical example shows the feasibility and validity of the ranking result obtained, which has been proved practical to solve the multi-attribute decision-making problems. © 2022 SPIE.

Cross-resolution person re-identification(CR-ReID) seeks to overcome the challenge of retrieving and matching specific person images across cameras with varying resolutions. Numerous existing studies utilize established CNNs and ViTs models to resize captured low-resolution (LR) images and align them with high-resolution (HR) image features. However, these methods overlook the potential feature connections between LR and HR images. Consequently, CNNs or ViTs tend to highlight outliers rather than the intended characteristics in LR image attention maps. In this work, we propose the abnormal feature elimination and reconfiguration transformer (ART) network, a novel network architecture, for robust cross-resolution person re-identification tasks. Our proposed method uses a resolution feature discriminator to learn resolution invariant features and outputs feature matrices of images with different resolutions. We utilize output feature matrices to model LR and HR image interactions through cross-resolution landmark agent attention. We aim to mitigate abnormal image features and prioritize the attention on the target person by learning representations from input images of various resolutions. Extensive evaluations on three real-world datasets confirm the excellent results of our approach. © 2024 IEEE.

High-resolution landslide images are required for detailed geomorphological analysis in complex topographic environment with steep and vertical landslide *** study proposed a vertical route planning method for unmanned aerial vehicles(UAVs),which could achieve rapid image collection based on strictly calculated route *** effectiveness of this method was verified using a DJI Mavic 2 Pro,obtaining high-resolution landslide images within the Dongchuan debris flow gully,in the Xiaojiang River Basin,Dongchuan District,Yunnan,China.A three-dimensional(3D)model was constructed by the structure-from-motion and multi-view stereo(SfM-MVS).Micro-geomorphic features were analyzed through visual interpretation,geographic information system(GIS),spatial analysis,and mathematical statistics *** results demonstrated that the proposed method could obtain comprehensive vertical information on landslides while improving measurement *** 3D model was constructed using the vertically oriented flight route to achieve centimeter-level accuracy(horizontal accuracy better than 6 cm,elevation accuracy better than 3 cm,and relative accuracy better than 3.5 cm).The UAV technology could further help understand the micro internal spatial and structural characteristics of landslides,facilitating intuitive acquisition of surface *** slope of landslide clusters ranged from 36°to 72°,with the majority of the slope facing east and *** elevation levels were relatively consistent while middle to lower elevation levels gradually decreased from left to right with significant variations in lower elevation *** the rainy season,surface runoff was abundant,and steep topography exacerbated changes in surface *** route method is suitable for unmanned aerial vehicle(UAV)landslide surveys in complex mountainous *** geomorphological analysis methods used will provide references for identifying and describing topographic

TERMS: Task management policies to achieve high performance for mixed workloads using surplus resources

Resource contentions and performance interferences can lead to workload performance degradation in mixed-workload deployment clusters. Previous work guarantees the resource requirements of latency-sensitive tasks and reduces performance losses to batch jobs by reclaiming surplus resources from over-provisioned tasks. While the fragmentation of resources leads to a mismatch between provisioned resources and task requirements, resulting in high operation overheads and losses of task fairness. This paper proposes TERMS, the task management policies based on task relevance, resource distribution, and task fairness to achieve efficient and low-cost task management. TERMS mainly includes three types of management policies. The task scheduling policy can schedule new tasks according to task relevance. Task selection strategies select tasks for resource provisioning and task resumption based on resource requirements and task fairness. If necessary, the node selection strategy can be used to choose befitting target nodes based on task relevance and node resource information for task migration when eliminating straggler tasks. Evaluation results show that TERMS can further improve the performance of latency-sensitive services and batch jobs, reduce management overheads, and avoid operation failures. © 2022 Elsevier Inc.

Throughput-oriented associated transaction assignment in sharding blockchains for IoT social data storage

Blockchain is a viable solution to provide data integrity for the enormous volume of 5G IoT social data, while we need to break through the throughput bottleneck of blockchain. Sharding is a promising technology to solve the problem of low throughput in blockchains. However, cross-shard communication hinders the effective improvement of blockchain throughput. Therefore, it is critical to reasonably allocate transactions to different shards to improve blockchain throughput. Existing research on blockchain sharding mainly focuses on shards formation, configuration, and consensus, while ignoring the negative impact of cross-shard communication on blockchain throughput. Aiming to maximize the throughput of transaction processing, we study how to allocate blockchain transactions to shards in this paper. We propose an Associated Transaction assignment algorithm based on Closest Fit (ATCF). ATCF classifies associated transactions into transaction groups which are then assigned to different shards in the non-ascending order of transaction group sizes periodically. Within each epoch, ATCF tries to select a shard that can handle all the transactions for each transaction group. If there are multiple such shards, ATCF selects the shard with the remaining processing capacity closest to the number of transactions in the transaction group. When no such shard exists, ATCF chooses the shard with the largest remaining processing capacity for the transaction group. The transaction groups that cannot be completely processed within the current epoch will be allocated in the subsequent epochs. We prove that ATCF is a 2-approximation algorithm for the associated transaction assignment problem. Simulation results show that ATCF can effectively improve the blockchain throughput and reduce the number of cross-shard transactions.

Multi-Modal Relation Extraction (MMRE) plays a key role in various multimedia applications including, recommendation and information retrieval systems. MMRE aims to extract the semantic relation between entities by leveraging context from a text-image pair. By utilizing context from images, the challenge of learning from noisy images in MMRE emerges as a research problem by itself. For instance, subtle variations in similar images can act as noise and potentially impact the predictions made by MMRE models. To tackle this problem, current work utilizes attention mechanisms to fuse relevant text and image features or devise data augmentation techniques (e.g., via generative models) to improve generalization. However, the current performance still remains unsatisfactory. In an effort to improve upon the performance, we propose a Dual-Aspect Noise-based Regularization framework that encompasses two techniques: 1) noise removal through an adaptive gating mechanism, 2) fighting noise with noise to improve feature stability in the learning process. We find that combining these techniques encourages the model to focus on more relevant image features for MMRE. We carry out extensive experiments and demonstrate that our proposed model is further enhanced by exploring data augmentation techniques. This additional improvement leads the model to achieve state-of-the-art performance on the widely-used Multi-modal Neural Relation Extraction (MNRE) dataset, and show its effectiveness and generalizability on the Multi-Modal Named Entity Recognition task.

Terahertz (THz) waves possess great properties such as ultra-large bandwidth, good penetration, strong reflectivity to metallic materials, and low photon energy, making them widely applicable in fields such as optical communication, optical networks, and optical imaging. Therefore, THz optical imaging, as a novel non-destructive testing technology, demonstrates significant application value in areas such as body security scanning. However, existing THz imaging systems require that targets be close to the detector in order to avoid issues like visible stripes, increased noise, reduced contrast, and blurred edges, which can significantly reduce the quality of imaging results. To solve this problem, this study proposes an AM-Res2Net model to achieve accurate THz optical image recognition. The proposed model, compared with the Res2Net model, uses multiple small kernel convolutions to replace a single large kernel convolution. Furthermore, the proposed model also replaces the activation function and introduces the attention mechanism in the residual structure. The AM-Res2Net model tested on the THz optical image set constructed in this study achieved a recognition accuracy of 94.3%, which is higher than the ResNet and Res2Net models. © 2024 IEEE.

Human-robot collaboration (HRC) plays an important role in human-centric manufacturing, which requires cooperative robots to have the ability of collaborate with human autonomously. It is very complex to understand the intention of human during the assembly process, therefore, we proposed a method of autonomous HRC assembly driven by the fusion of large language model (LLM) and digital twin in this paper. The assembly state is recognized from two perspectives, including the perception of key parts based on transfer learning and YOLO, and perceive operator actions based on LSTM and attention mechanism. In order to improve the autonomy of HRC, a collaborative task decision method driven by fine-tuning LLM based on assembly domain knowledge is proposed. A case study of reducer assembly is presented to verify the effectiveness of the proposed method. © Published under licence by IOP Publishing Ltd.
