Domain adaptation aims to transfer knowledge between different domains to develop an effective hypothesis in the target domain with scarce labeled data, which is an effective method for remedying the problem of labeled data requirement in deep learning. In reality, it is unavoidable that the dataset has a large gap in the number of positive and negative instances across different categories in source and target domains, which is the imbalanced domain adaptation problem. However, since the imbalanced degree always varies greatly in different source- and target-domain datasets, most of the existing imbalanced domain adaptation models fix the imbalanced parameters, which cannot adapt to the change of the proportion between positive and negative instances in different domains. To address this problem, in this article, we propose a self-adaptive imbalanced domain adaptation method via a deep sparse autoencoder, which can adjust the model automatically according to the imbalanced extent for bridging the chasm of domains. More specifically, the self-adaptive imbalanced cross-entropy loss is designed for emphasizing more on minority categories and compensating the bias of training loss automatically. In addition, to alleviate the deficient problem of labeled data, we further propose the unlabeled information incorporating method by minimizing the distribution discrepancy of high-level representation space between the source and target domains. Experiments on several real-world datasets demonstrate the effectiveness of our method compared to other state-of-the-art methods. © 2020 IEEE.

An Evolutionary Multitasking Algorithm for Efficient Multiobjective Recommendations

Represented by evolutionary algorithms and swarm intelligence algorithms, nature-inspired metaheuristics have been successfully applied to recommender systems and amply demonstrated effectiveness, in particular, for multiobjective recommendation. Owing to the population-based search paradigm, these algorithms can produce a number of recommendation lists, making diverse tradeoffs between multiple metrics and meeting the requirements of accuracy, novelty, diversity, and other user preferences. However, these algorithms are criticized for the low efficiency of the optimization process, especially when the number of users is large. To address this issue, this article proposes an evolutionary multitasking-based recommendation method, where each task corresponds to a user and all the tasks are optimized simultaneously, thus highly improving the efficiency of recommendation. To enhance the convergence speed, all the users are divided into multiple populations according to the similarity between their preferences, where each population evolves with internal knowledge transfer between users, and all the populations evolve with external knowledge transfer between populations. Experimental results on various datasets verify that the proposed method can better balance between multiple metrics than classical and deep neural network-based recommendation methods and exhibits significantly higher efficiency than evolutionary multiobjective optimization-based recommendation methods. © 2024 IEEE. We investigated 1-μm multimode fiber laser based on carbon nanotubes,where multiple typical pulse states were observed,including Q-switched,Q-switched mode-locked,and spatiotemporal mode-locked ***,stable spatiotemporal mode-locking was realized with a low threshold,where the pulse duration was 37 ps and the wavelength was centred at 1060.5 ***,both the high signal to noise and long-term operation stability proved the reliability of the mode-locked ***,the evolution of the spatiotemporal mode-locked pulses in the cavity was also simulated and *** work exhibits the flexible outputs of spatiotemporal phenomena in multimode lasers based on nanomaterials,providing more possibilities for the development of high-dimensional nonlinear dynamics.

Graph pattern matching is a technique widely used in various fields such as protein structure analysis, social group querying, and expert localization. This technique involves finding matching subgraphs in large social networks that align with the patterns specified in the pattern graph. In this paper, we focus on a specific sub-problem in social group querying, known as the cooperative team query, which arises from practical applications, where the nodes in the pattern graph and the data graph represent team member entities, while the edges represent their social relationships. We note that the requirements of many teams in the real world are dynamic, necessitating iterative computation for graph pattern matching using traditional methods. To address this challenge in highly dynamic systems, we propose a graph pattern matching method based on core pattern graph matching cache. This approach involves extracting the core pattern graph, and comprising core team members based on the characteristics of cooperative teams. The core graph-based matching cache enables the second half of the algorithm to operate on an order-of-magnitude smaller graph, significantly improving efficiency. Additionally, the multi-threaded approach fully leverages hardware resources, synchronizing multiple matching result of the core pattern graph to reduce matching time. Experimental results on three real social network datasets demonstrate that our proposed algorithm, Core Pattern Graph Matching Cache-based Multi-threaded Exploration (CCMTE), significantly outperforms existing methods in terms of efficiency. © 2024 IEEE.

Owing to its ability to mitigate the double-fading effect by amplifying the reflected signal, the active intelligent reflecting surface(IRS) has garnered significant attention. In this paper, an amplify-and-forward(AF) relay network assisted by a hybrid IRS consisting of both passive and active units is developed. A signal-to-noise ratio(SNR) maximization problem is formulated, where the AF relay beamforming matrix and the hybrid IRS reflecting coefficient matrices for two-time slots need to be optimized. To address the SNR maximization problem, this paper proposes both a high-performance(HP) method and a low-complexity(LC) method. The HP method is based on the semidefinite relaxation and fractional programming(SDR-FP)algorithm, with rank-1 solutions obtained through Gaussian randomization. For the LC method, the amplification coefficient of each active IRS element is assumed to be equal. The SNR maximization problem is then addressed using the whitening filter,generalized power iteration, and generalized Rayleigh-Ritz(WF-GPI-GRR) approach. Simulation results show that compared with the benchmarks, such as the passive IRS-aided AF relay network, the proposed HP-SDR-FP and WF-GPI-GRR methods achieve significant rate improvements. In particular, the HP-SDR-FP and WF-GPI-GRR methods yield more than a 135.0%rate gain when the transmit power Ps of the source is 10 dBm. Furthermore, the proposed HP-SDR-FP method outperforms the WF-GPI-GRR method in terms of rate performance.

Online Streaming Features Causal Discovery Algorithm Based on Partial Rank Correlation

Aimedat the problem of dynamic causal discovery in the era of artificial intelligence, this article combines partial rank correlation coefficients and streaming features in the field of Bayesian network structure learning and proposes a new online streaming feature causal discovery algorithm based on partial rank correlation named the partial rank casual discovery streaming feature based algorithm. This algorithm is not only suitable for Bayesian causal structure learning in dynamic feature spaces generated by sequential streams of features but can also effectively process multivariate linear Gaussian and nonlinear non-Gaussian data. We present three main contributions. First, for arbitrarily distributed datasets, which can be generated by the additive noise model, we proved that the partial rank correlation coefficient can be used as the criterion for the conditional independence test and explored the distribution of corresponding statistics. Second, the PCSDSF algorithm redefined the relevance based on partial rank statistic prospects and then redefined conditional dependence or independence. This method can significantly reduce the number of conditional independence tests and achieves a good time performance. Finally, theoretical analysis and several experiments proved the reliability of the algorithm. A simulation showed that on average, the PCSDSF algorithm outperforms existing algorithms in terms of both the accuracy and time performance. © 2022 IEEE.

Previous methods on knowledge base question generation (KBQG) primarily focus on refining the quality of a single generated question. However, considering the remarkable paraphrasing ability of humans, we believe that diverse texts can express identical semantics through varied expressions. The above insights make diversifying question generation an intriguing task, where the first challenge is evaluation metrics for diversity. Current metrics inadequately assess the aforementioned diversity. They calculate the ratio of unique n-grams in the generated question, which tends to measure duplication rather than true diversity. Accordingly, we devise a new diversity evaluation metric, which measures the diversity among top-k generated questions for each instance while ensuring their relevance to the ground truth. Clearly, the second challenge is how to enhance diversifying question generation. To address this challenge, we introduce a dual model framework interwoven by two selection strategies to generate diverse questions leveraging external natural questions. The main idea of our dual framework is to extract more diverse expressions and integrate them into the generation model to enhance diversifying question generation. Extensive experiments on widely used benchmarks for KBQG show that our approach can outperform pre-trained language model baselines and text-davinci-003 in diversity while achieving comparable performance with ChatGPT. © 2024 ELRA Language Resource Association: CC BY-NC 4.0.

A Part-of-Speech Tagging Model Employing Word Clustering and Syntactic Parsing

Part-Of-Speech tagging is a basic task in the field of natural language processing. This paper builds a POS tagger based on improved Hidden Markov model, by employing word clustering and syntactic parsing model. Firstly, In order to overcome the defects of the classical HMM, Markov family model (MFM), a new statistical model was introduced. Secondly, to solve the problem of data sparseness, we propose a bottom-to-up hierarchical word clustering algorithm. Then we combine syntactic parsing with part-of-speech tagging. The Part-of-Speech tagging experiments show that the improved Part-Of-Speech tagging model has higher performance than Hidden Markov models (HMMs) under the same testing conditions, the precision is enhanced from 94.642% to 97.235%.
