Classification for high-dimensional data is a challenging task due to a great number of redundant and irrelevant features. Genetic Programming (GP) has its built-in feature selection characteristics and is suitable for processing high-dimensional data. However, if the number of features in GP individual is not restricted, the bloat phenomenon will occur, which affects the generalization of the training model. Moreover, GP is easy to fall into local search in the evolutionary process. In this paper, a multi-objective multi-population GP classifier construction method is proposed, which uses a multipopulation co-evolution strategy to divide the evolving population into the main and auxiliary populations with different evolutionary strategies and different evaluation criteria, and employs a multiobjective strategy to ensure classification performance and restrict the number of features at the same time. Experiments on seven high-dimensional datasets show that our proposed multi-population co-evolution strategy and multi-objective strategy are all effective to improve the classification performance of GP classifiers. Comparisons with three state-of-the-art GP classifier construction methods show that our proposed methods achieve better or comparable classification performance on most cases. © 2024 held by the owner/author(s).

In the era of artificial intelligence generated content (AIGC), conditional multimodal synthesis technologies (e.g., text-to-image) are dynamically reshaping the natural content. Brain signals, serving as potential reflections of how the brain interprets external information, exhibit a distinctive one-to-many correspondence with various external modalities. This correspondence makes brain signals emerge as a promising guiding condition for multimodal synthesis (e.g., image, text, and audio), which is crucial for developing practical brain–computer interface systems and unraveling complex mechanisms underlying human perception. This survey comprehensively examines the emerging field of brain-conditional multimodal synthesis, termed AIGC-brain, to delineate the current landscape and future directions. To begin, related neuroimaging datasets and generative models are introduced as the foundation of AIGC-brain decoding and analysis. Next, we present a comprehensive taxonomy according to AIGC-brain methodologies, followed by task-specific representative work and implementation details to facilitate in-depth comparison and analysis. Quality assessments are then introduced for both qualitative and quantitative evaluation. Finally, this survey explores insights gained, outlining current challenges and prospects of AIGC-brain. As a pioneering survey, this article paves the way for future advances in AIGC-brain research. © 2020 IEEE.

Strangeness S=-2 baryon-baryon interactions and femtoscopic correlation functions in covariant chiral effective field theory

We study the baryon-baryon interactions with strangeness S=-2 and corresponding momentum correlation functions in leading order covariant chiral effective field *** relevant low energy constants are determined by fitting to the latest HAL QCD simulations,taking into account all the coupled *** the so-obtained strong interactions to the physical point and considering both quantum statistical effects and the Coulomb interaction,we calculate the ΛΛ and Ξ^(-)p correlation functions with a spherical Gaussian source and compare them with recent experimental *** find a good agreement between our predictions and the experimental measurements by using the source radius determined in proton-proton correlations,which demonstrates the consistency between theory,experiment,and lattice QCD ***,we predict the Σ^(+)Σ^(+),Σ^(+)Λ,and Σ^(+)Σ^(-) interactions and corresponding momentum correlation *** further investigate the influence of the source shape and size of the hadron pair on the correlation functions studied and show that the current data are not very sensitive to the source *** experimental measurements of the predicted momentum correlation functions will provide a non-trivial test of not only SU(3) flavor symmetry and its breaking but also the baryon-baryon interactions derived in covariant chiral effective field theory.

Text analytics directly on compression (TADOC) is a promising technology designed for handling big data analytics. However, a substantial amount of DRAM is required for high performance, which limits its usage in many important scenarios where the capacity of DRAM is limited, such as memory-constrained systems. Non-volatile memory (NVM) is a novel storage technology that combines the advantage of reading per-formance and byte addressability of DRAM with the durability of traditional storage devices like SSD and HDD. Unfortunately, no research demonstrates how to use NVM to reduce DRAM utilization in compressed data analytics. In this paper, we propose N-TADOC, which substitutes DRAM with NVM while maintaining TADOC's analytics performance and space savings. Utilizing an NVM block device to reduce DRAM utilization presents two challenges, including poor data locality in traversing datasets and auxiliary data structure reconstruction on NVM. We develop novel designs to solve these challenges, including a pruning method with NVM pool management, bottom-up upper bound estimation, correspondent data structures, and persistence strategy at different levels of cost. Experimental results show that on four real-world datasets, N-TADOC achieves 2.04× performance speedup compared to the processing directly on the uncompressed data and 70.7% DRAM space saving compared to the original TADOC.

Smart grids (SGs) rely on home area networks (HANs) and neighborhood area networks (NANs) to ensure efficient power distribution, real-time monitoring, and seamless communication between smart devices. Despite these advantages, the use of public communication channels in HAN and NAN networks introduces critical challenges, such as vulnerability to impersonation, physical tampering, and scalability issues in resource-constrained environments. These issues compromise the stability, reliability, and security of SG environments. Existing protocols often fail to adequately address these challenges, particularly in ensuring resistance to physical tampering of supply lines and impersonation attacks. Additionally, they struggle to minimize the computation, communication, and energy costs associated with securing a resource-constrained SG environment. Therefore, we propose a robust key exchange and tamper-resistant protocol for HAN and NAN networks to address these limitations. The proposed protocol leverages the physical unclonable function (PUF) mechanism to offer physical tampering resistance to smart meters. We validate our protocol formally using the Random or Real (RoR) model, which confirms its security robustness. Additionally, our informal security analysis highlights the protocol’s resilience against impersonation, physical tampering attacks, etc. We analyze and compare the performance of the proposed protocol, which further demonstrates our protocol’s effectiveness and security compared to competing protocols. Moreover, the proposed protocol achieves resource efficiency with 45.99% and 58.85% substantial reductions in computation overhead and energy overhead, respectively, compared to competing protocols. These results showcase the protocol’s enhanced security and practicality for resource-constrained SG environments. © 2014 IEEE.

Diagnosis of compound faults remains a challenge during fault diagnosis of bearings, owing to the different fault parameters coupling, fault characteristics diversity, and the exponential increasement of the number of possible failure modes. Current compound faults diagnostic methods, which are usually based on supervised or semi-supervised learning, require sufficient labeled or unlabeled training data for each compound faults. In industrial scenarios, neither labeled nor unlabeled training data of compound faults are usually difficult to collect and sometimes even inaccessible, whereas single faults samples are easy to obtain. Based on these issues, we construct a novel generative zero-shot learning (ZSL) compound faults diagnosis model identifies unseen compound faults using only single faults samples as training set. This model comprises several modules, namely semantic vector definition, feature extractor, generative adversarial modules. Firstly, we devise a unified semantic vector definition method for expressing single and compound faults based on theoretical correlation of characteristics between single fault and compound faults vibration data. Secondly, a CNN-based feature extractor is designed for extraction the fault features from the time-frequency domain of vibration data. Thirdly, a generative adversarial module performs adversarial training of semantic vectors and fault features of single faults to learn the mapping relationship between the fault features and the fault semantic vectors. Once trained, the generator is able to generate compound fault features using the compound fault semantic vectors, rather than any compound fault samples. Finally, the K-nearest neighbor method is adopted to identify the unseen compound faults by measuring the distance between the extracted feature from the testing compound fault samples and the generated features. The recent studies show that Large Language Models (LLMs) often fall short in tasks demanding creative, lateral thinking due to lacking a clear awareness of their own reasoning processes. To cope with this issue, we propose a novel metacognitive prompting method (titled as MP) by mimicking human metacognition. Through integrating metacognitive principles, MP endows LLMs with lateral thinking ability, thereby enhancing their abilities to strategize, monitor, and reflect on their responses when dealing with creative tasks. The experimental results with five base LLMs across three lateral thinking datasets demonstrate that: All LLMs armed with MP consistently outperform the representative baseline methods. For example, MP demonstrates superior performance over CoT prompting across Sentence Puzzle (+5.00%), Word Puzzle (+10.07%), BiRdQA (+6.48%), and RiddleSense (+2.65%) with GPT-3.5-turbo model. In particular, the deployment of MP with GPT-4 achieves significant performance improvements that even surpass human performance on BRAINTEASER benchmark, demonstrating the transformative potential of MP in enhancing the creative problem-solving abilities of LLMs. Copyright © 2025, Association for the Advancement of Artificial Intelligence (***). Image forgeries can entirely change the semantic information of an image, and can be used for unscrupulous purposes. In this paper, we propose a novel image forgery localization network named as MUN, which consists of an M3 encoder and a UN decoder. Firstly, the M3 encoder is constructed based on a Multi-scale Max-pooling query module to extract Multi-clue forged features. Noiseprint++ is adopted to assist the RGB clue, and its deployment methodology is discussed. A Multi-scale Max-pooling Query (MMQ) module is proposed to integrate RGB and noise features. Secondly, a novel UN decoder is proposed to extract hierarchical features from both top-down and bottom-up directions, reconstructing both high-level and low-level features at the same time. Thirdly, we formulate an IoU-recalibrated Dynamic Cross-Entropy (IoUDCE) loss to dynamically adjust the weights on forged regions according to IoU which can adaptively balance the influence of authentic and forged regions. Last but not least, we propose a data augmentation method, i.e., Deviation Noise Augmentation (DNA), which acquires accessible prior knowledge of RGB distribution to improve the generalization ability.
