Self-testing protocols enable the certification of quantum devices without demanding full knowledge about their inner workings. A typical approach in designing such protocols is based on observing nonlocal correlations which exhibit maximum violation in a Bell test. We show that in the Bell experiment known as Hardy's test of nonlocality, not only does the maximally nonlocal correlation self-test a quantum state, rather a nonmaximal nonlocal behavior can serve the same purpose. We, in fact, completely characterize all such behaviors leading to a self-test of every pure two-qubit entangled state except for the maximally entangled ones. Apart from presenting an alternative self-testing protocol, our method provides a powerful tool towards characterizing the complex boundary of the set of quantum correlations.

Consumer’s privacy is a main concern in Smart Grids (SGs) due to the sensitivity of energy data, particularly when used to train machine learning models for different services. These data-driven models often require huge amounts of data to achieve acceptable performance leading in most cases to risks of privacy leakage. By pushing the training to the edge, Federated Learning (FL) offers a good compromise between privacy preservation and the predictive performance of these models. The current paper presents an overview of FL applications in SGs while discussing their advantages and drawbacks, mainly in load forecasting, electric vehicles, fault diagnoses, load disaggregation and renewable energies. In addition, an analysis of main design trends and possible taxonomies is provided considering data partitioning, the communication topology, and security mechanisms. Recently, the research in hyperspectral video tracking has gained wide attention, and the Siamese-based approaches have reported the state-of-the-art results. However, most of the state-of-the-art approaches have several limitations, including the failure of the dimensionality reduction (DR) to enhance the target and suppress the background. Also, the target and search branches of most these approaches operate independently without exchanging information, and the target template remains unchanged during tracking. In this regard, the current paper introduces a novel model to overcome these challenges. Firstly, we apply spectral spatial angle mapping enhancement for DR, which not only reduces the dimensionality but also improves the distinction between the target and background. Secondly, an information exchange (IE) module is employed to facilitate feature-sharing between the search and target branches. Additionally, a state-aware template update mechanism is proposed, where the template pool is dynamically updated based on their replaceability at each frame. The advantage of our proposed method lies in its utilization of spectral characteristics to refine and enhance the dimensionality-reduced image on a pixel-by-pixel basis, thereby enriching the texture of the target image. Through the IE module, it enhances the exchange of information between the target and search branches, overcoming the limitations of traditional Siamese architectures. Additionally, it employs a dynamic template update mechanism that adjusts the target template during each iteration to address the challenges posed by sudden movements of the target. Comprehensive experiments and comparisons with state-of-the-art trackers illustrate the state-of-the-art performance of the proposed approach. © 2025 Elsevier B.V.

Terrestrial networks form the fundamental infrastructure of modern communication systems, serving more than 4 billion users globally. However, terrestrial networks are facing a wide range of challenges, from coverage and reliability to interference and congestion. As the demands of the 6G era are expected to be much higher, it is crucial to address these challenges to ensure a robust and efficient communication infrastructure for the future. To address these problems, Non-terrestrial Network (NTN) has emerged to be a promising solution. NTNs are communication networks that leverage airborne (e.g., unmanned aerial vehicles) and spaceborne vehicles (e.g., satellites) to facilitate ultra-reliable communications and connectivity with high data rates and low latency over expansive regions. This article aims to provide a comprehensive survey on the utilization of network slicing, Artificial Intelligence/Machine Learning (AI/ML), and Open Radio Access Network (ORAN) to address diverse challenges of NTNs from the perspectives of both academia and industry. Particularly, we first provide an in-depth tutorial on NTN and the key enabling technologies including network slicing, AI/ML, and ORAN. Then, we provide a comprehensive survey on how network slicing and AI/ML have been leveraged to overcome the challenges that NTNs are facing. Moreover, we present how ORAN can be utilized for NTNs. A game-theoretic approach towards collaborative coded computation offloading

Coded distributed computing (CDC) has emerged as a promising approach because it enables computation tasks to be carried out in a distributed manner while mitigating straggler effects, which often account for the long overall completion times. Specifically, by using polynomial codes, computed results from only a subset of edge servers can be used to reconstruct the final result. However, incentive issues have not been studied systematically for the edge servers to complete the CDC tasks. In this paper, we propose a tractable two-level game-theoretic approach to incentivize the edge servers to complete the CDC tasks. Specifically, in the lower level, a hedonic coalition formation game is formulated where the edge servers share their resources within their coalitions. By forming coalitions, the edge servers have more Central Processing Unit (CPU) power to complete the computation tasks. In the upper level, given the CPU power of the coalitions of edge servers, an all-pay auction is designed to incentivize the edge servers to participate in the CDC tasks. In the all-pay auction, the bids of the edge servers are represented by the allocation of their CPU power to the CDC tasks. The all-pay auction is designed to maximize the utility of the cloud server by determining the allocation of rewards to the winners. Simulation results show that the edge servers are incentivized to allocate more CPU power when multiple rewards are offered, i.e., there are multiple winners, instead of rewarding only the edge server with the largest CPU power allocation. Besides, the utility of the cloud server is maximized when it offers multiple homogeneous rewards, instead of heterogeneous rewards. © 2021, CC0.

With the advancement of information technology in the recent decades, digital and online services have become essential components of everyday life in Europe. Montenegro is no different in this regard. However, as digital literacy in the country is still in a developing phase in comparison with most countries of the EU, a higher portion of its citizens may rely on assistive technical communication. In this paper, we provide a case study on the assistive technical communication of Montenegrin eServices. The work addresses the sectors of online banking, healthcare services, higher education, national administrative services, and utilities. Our findings highlight the diversity in terms of implemented assistive technical communication, and distinguish usage contexts on the level of adequacy. Yet as the functionalities of Montenegrin eServices are expected to gradually expand in the upcoming years, assistive technical communication must aim to handle the higher extents of service complexity.

Synergistic thermo-hydraulic optimization of embedded microchannels: Balancing chip cooling efficiency and pressure fluctuation resistance

Embedded microchannels cooling technology significantly reduces thermal resistance by enabling direct contact between the coolant and the heat-generating chip, exhibiting an incomparable cooling effect compared to traditional methods. However, direct contact between the coolant and the heat source results in more significant temperature fluctuations on chip and increased pressure sensitivity in the microchannel. These factors have become key factors restricting further improvement of the system's energy efficiency. This paper proposes an embedded chip cooling system that is easy to implant with great thermal performance. An embedded microchannels with secondary channels of airfoil cavity pin-fin spoiler structure (EMAT-SC), designed to further enhance the heat transfer capabilities of embedded microchannels cooling while ensuring the stability of the embedded cooling system. Through numerical simulation methods, it is determined that EMAT-SC can obtain the best heat dissipation performance when the relative width of secondary channel (α) is about 0.47 and the relative size of spoiler structure (β) is in the range of 0.28–0.56. Based on these findings, we further compared the cooling performance of the EMAT-SC with that of the embedded microchannels with rectangular structure (EMRR), the embedded microchannels with triangular rib groove structure (EMTR), and the embedded microchannels with conventional secondary channels structure (EMSC). The results confirm that EMAT-SC can not only maintain a Δp comparable to that of EMTR, but also exhibits superior heat transfer performance. The performance evaluation criterion (PEC) of EMAT-SC reaches 1.50 at Re = 783, which shows the best comprehensive thermal performance compared with the optimization schemes of the same size in recent years. The use of magnetic nanoparticle(MNP)-labeled immunochromatography test strips(ICTSs) is very important for point-ofcare testing(POCT). However, common diagnostic methods cannot accurately analyze the weak magnetic signal from ICTSs, limiting the applications of POCT. In this study, an ultrasensitive multiplex biosensor was designed to overcome the limitations of capturing and normalization of the weak magnetic signal from MNPs on ICTSs. A machine learning model for sandwich assays was constructed and used to classify weakly positive and negative samples, which significantly enhanced the specificity and sensitivity. The potential clinical application was evaluated by detecting 50 human chorionic gonadotropin(HCG) samples and 59 myocardial infarction serum samples. The quantitative range for HCG was 1–1000 mIU mL^(-1) and the ideal detection limit was 0.014 mIU mL^(-1), which was well below the clinical threshold. Quantitative detection results of multiplex cardiac markers showed good linear correlations with standard values. The proposed multiplex assay can be readily adapted for identifying other biomolecules and also be used in other applications such as environmental monitoring, food analysis, and national security.
