GraphLoc: Enhancing Fingerprint-Based Localization With Graph Representation Learning

For 6G inherent intelligent capability, deep-learning-based wireless localization will become a promising technology for offering commercial location-based services (LBSs). Classical deep neural networks (DNNs) have been designed to learn feature representation for localization tasks. However, due to the uncertainty of radio measurements in complicated wireless propagation, the existing solution has achieved unsatisfactory performance with environmental dynamics. To address this issue, we propose GraphLoc, a novel approach to enhancing fingerprint-based localization with graph representation learning which can encode the structural information underlying radio fingerprints for robust localization. We first adopt graph signal processing of CSI fingerprints to create an unweighted graph. GraphLoc transforms the tasks of location estimations into node classification in a constructed graph. Then, we develop multilayer graph attention networks (GATs) with the residual structure (Res-GAT) to learn graph representation by collecting the neighboring node features and aggregating their neighboring embeddings. Furthermore, in order to guarantee and speed up our Res-GAT convergence, we propose a training strategy to overcome training difficulty and overfitting for improving the quality of graph representation. Finally, extensive experimental results in many typical indoor scenarios demonstrate that the GraphLoc system can achieve better accuracy than other comparative schemes, even with the robustness of environmental dynamics, effectively facilitating fingerprint-based localization for fully practical LBS. © 2014 IEEE.

Vibration Suppression in Four-Unit Permanent Magnet Synchronous Motor under Open-Circuit Fault Tolerance Based on Similarity Measure

Open-circuit fault, as a common type of winding faults, can lead to severe vibration in permanent magnet synchronous motors. However, the reason of this phenomenon is not well understood yet. Hence, this article proposes a similarity measure method for suppressing vibration of the four-unit permanent magnet synchronous motor under the open-circuit fault operation. Firstly, the shortcoming of the traditional fault tolerance method is studied, and the analysis indicates that the electromagnetic forces and moment are distributed asymmetrically along the air gap circumference. Then, it is found that the vibration intensification is induced by the asymmetric armature reaction magnetic field. By the proposed similarity measure method, the fault tolerance currents are derived and the armature reaction magnetic field is redesigned. The results show that the vibration performance is greatly improved by applying the proposed fault tolerance method. Finally, the prototype of an 8pole-12slot four-unit permanent magnet synchronous motor is manufactured. Several numerical simulations and prototype experiments are carried out to verify the effectiveness of the proposed fault tolerance method. © 2015 IEEE.

Kirigami-inspired continuum soft arm with embedded sensing for non-destructive inspection and sorting

The sensing capabilities of a soft arm are ofparamount importance to its overall performance as they allow precise control of the soft arm and enhance its interactionwith the surrounding environment. However, the actuationand sensing of a soft arm are not typically integrated into amonolithic structure, which would impede the arm’s movement and restrict its performance and application scope. Toaddress this limitation, this study proposes an innovativemethod for the integrated design of actuator structures andsensing. The proposed method combines the art of kirigamiwith soft robotics technology. In the proposed method, sensorsare embedded in the form of kirigami structures into actuatorsusing laser cutting technology, achieving seamless integrationwith a soft arm. Compared to the traditional amanogawakirigami and fractal-cut kirigami structures, the proposedmiddle-cut kirigami (MCK) structure does not buckle duringstretching and exhibits superior tensile performance. Based onthe MCK structure, an advanced interdigitated capacitivesensor with a high degree of linearity, which can significantlyoutperform traditional kirigami sensors, is developed. Theexperimental results validate the effectiveness of the proposedsoft arm design in actual logistics sorting tasks, demonstratingthat it is capable of accurately sorting objects based on sensorsignals. In addition, the results indicate that the developedcontinuum soft arm and its embedded kirigami sensors havegreat potential in the field of logistics automation *** work provides a promising solution for high-precisionclosed-loop feedback control and environmental interaction ofsoft arms.

This paper studies the countermeasure design problems of distributed resilient time-varying formation-tracking control for multi-UAV systems with single-way communications against composite attacks,including denial-of-services(DoS)attacks,false-data injection attacks,camouflage attacks,and actuation attacks(AAs).Inspired by the concept of digital twin,a new two-layered protocol equipped with a safe and private twin layer(TL)is proposed,which decouples the above problems into the defense scheme against DoS attacks on the TL and the defense scheme against AAs on the cyber-physical ***,a topologyrepairing strategy against frequency-constrained DoS attacks is implemented via a Zeno-free event-triggered estimation scheme,which saves communication resources *** upper bound of the reaction time needed to launch the repaired topology after the occurrence of DoS attacks is ***,a decentralized adaptive and chattering-relief controller against potentially unbounded AAs is ***,this novel adaptive controller can achieve uniformly ultimately bounded convergence,whose error bound can be given *** practicability and validity of this new two-layered protocol are shown via a simulation example and a UAV swarm experiment equipped with both Ultra-WideBand and WiFi communication channels.

Speech emotion recognition has received growing attention to improving the user-friendly experience, but it is still a difficult challenge. That is mainly due to the problem of uneven distribution of emotional information in speech samples. The overall state label of a sample is not sufficient to fully describe each part of the sample. In other words, each part contributes differently to the overall recognition. In this paper, we build unidirectional and bidirectional temporal attention networks to enhance the ability to extract essential features, and build the key-frame loss function to make the attention weight closer to 0 and 1. The purpose of using the attention module and key-frame loss is to extract the information that is effective for classification and filter out the unimportant information. A large number of experiments were conducted on the IEMOCAP dataset to verify the effectiveness of the model and loss function. The experimental results show that under the combined effect of the attention model and the loss function, our method has achieved better performance than the existing methods, with a weighted accuracy of 59.15% and an unweighted accuracy of 60.87%. © 2024 IEEE.

The vast amount of data generated by large-scale open online course platforms provide a solid foundation for the analysis of learning behavior in the field of *** study utilizes the historical and final learning behavior data of over 300000 learners from 17 courses offered on the edX platform by Harvard university and the Massachusetts Institute of Technology during the 2012-2013 academic *** have developed a spike neural network to predict learning outcomes,and analyzed the correlation between learning behavior and outcomes,aiming to identify key learning behaviors that significantly impact these *** goal is to monitor learning progress,provide targeted references for evaluating and improving learning effectiveness,and implement intervention measures *** results demonstrate that the prediction model based on online learning behavior using spiking neural network achieves an impressive accuracy of 99.80%.The learning behaviors that predominantly affect learning effectiveness are found to be students’academic performance and level of participation.

Open-Circuit Fault-Tolerant Control for APMSM Based on Coil-Sequential Activation Strategy

In the annular permanent magnet synchronous motor control system, the coil sequential activation strategy enables a single stator to drive multiple movers simultaneously. However, it also increases the risk of open-circuit faults. This article proposes a fault-tolerant control (FTC) algorithm that addresses one coil open-circuit fault and two coil open-circuit faults within this driving strategy. The algorithm ensures that the system maintains constant electromagnetic thrust even in the presence of coil faults. To assess its effectiveness, both theoretical analysis and experimental validation are conducted. The results demonstrate that the proposed FTC algorithm successfully reconfigures the currents in healthy coils during an open-circuit fault, thereby preserving system stability and performance. This is verified through current closed-loop tests, as well as under no-load and load conditions, where the system exhibits performance nearly identical to normal operation despite coil faults. © 2013 IEEE.
