New energy vehicles provide new solutions for low-carbon emissions. With the continuous expansion of the new energy vehicle industry, a more scientific supply chain management system is needed to effectively identify and evaluate risks. This study proposes a more scientific and comprehensive risk assessment method for the supply chain system of new energy vehicles based on a hierarchical holographic model and matter element extension model. The results showed that the proposed algorithm improved the classification performance of risk factors by 1.2%, 1.3%, and 1.5% compared to the clustering performance of the nearest frequency amount clustering, particle swarm optimization, and self-organizing mapping algorithms. In terms of noise processing effectiveness, the Rand index has improved by an average of 55% and 41% compared to the kernel density threshold algorithm and spectral clustering algorithm, with smaller fluctuations and significant differences (P © 2025 Slovene Society Informatika. This study constructs an evolutionary game model for a closed-loop supply chain, incorporating green behavior decisions under low-carbon constraints. It analyzes the revenue scenarios and evolutionary trends of suppliers, distributors, and recyclers under different strategy combinations, while also examining the stability of equilibrium points through a three-party game matrix. The findings indicate that suppliers are less motivated to adopt green production methods, primarily due to the high costs associated with these practices, and government subsidies and carbon tax mechanisms are insufficient to bridge this cost gap. The distributors' decisions to promote green products are influenced by factors such as cost, market demand, and their relationships with suppliers. For recyclers, the incentive to actively recycle waste products is driven mainly by government subsidies and the inherent value of the recycled materials. © 2024 Copyright held by the owner/author(s). Improved KW entropy: a complexity measurement technique for time series and its application in feature extraction of quay crane gearbox

The quay crane operates in a severe and specific working environment. The gearbox, being a pivotal transmission component within the hoisting mechanism, plays a crucial role in ensuring the reliable and smooth operation of the entire system. Its health status is of utmost importance. To derive degradation characteristics from intricate vibration monitoring signals, we introduce an enhanced KW symbol entropy feature extraction approach. This method ensures uniformity in symbol standardization by adopting the root mean square (RMS) of the signal under normal conditions as the benchmark, integrating a symbol coefficient to establish a uniform symbol scale. Additionally, we incorporate a variable number of symbols to enlarge the symbol set, thereby enhancing the capacity for information representation. Subsequently, leveraging information entropy theory, we compute the complexity of both the symbol sequence itself and its distribution, yielding two distinctive features: improved symbol sequence entropy (IKSE) and improved symbol distribution entropy (IKDE). We have analyzed the logistic chaotic sequence and the operational lifespan signal of the hoisting gearbox independently. The results demonstrate that the introduced features possess remarkable capabilities in elucidating the complexities embedded within nonlinear time series, thereby facilitating a precise depiction of the entire progression of performance degradation in the lifting gearbox. Notably, this technique manifests a remarkable degree of stability, with its performance remaining largely unaffected by variations in its parameters. © The Author(s), under exclusive licence to Springer-Verlag London Ltd., part of Springer Nature 2025.

In order to effectively help enterprises identify the digital influencing factors of low-carbon cold chain of agricultural products in Guangxi and accelerate the realization of low-carbonization of agricultural products cold chain enterprises, this paper constructs an evaluation index system of low-carbon cold chain of agricultural products in Guangxi under digital empowerment. Based on the data of cold chain energy of agricultural products in 11 cities of Guangxi from 2013 to 2022, the carbon emissions of cold chain of agricultural products in different cities were calculated. The results show that the consumption of cold chain energy of agricultural products in Guangxi is increasing in general from 2013 to 2022. Subsequently, the correlation analysis between the panel data of agricultural product cold chain carbon emissions and the panel data of digital factors in 11 cities in Guangxi was carried out. The results showed that the highest correlation was the degree of digital investment, and the lowest was the level of employee digitization. However, the correlation degree of all digital factors is higher than 0.6, which proves that digital factors have a high correlation with the low-carbon cold chain of agricultural products in Guangxi. This study provides a reference for how to realize low carbon in the cold chain of agricultural products in Guangxi by means of digitization. © 2025 The Authors.

The comprehensive evaluation of innovation capabilities in central cities of emerging countries is essential for promoting regional economic growth. This evaluation examines various factors, such as scientific activities, innovation infrastructure, talent resources, and policy environments, offering insights into the current innovation landscape and future potential. By guiding the allocation of resources and optimizing innovation policies, it fosters the transformation of technological achievements and accelerates urban economic transformation and sustainable development. Moreover, it helps cities attract investment and skilled talent, enhancing their competitiveness and influence. This evaluation is a multi-attribute decision-making (MADM) challenge, for which the cross-entropy method has been recently adopted to handle complex criteria. Type-2 neutrosophic numbers (T2NNs) are used to represent uncertainty in assessing innovation capabilities. This study introduces the Type-2 neutrosophic number cross-entropy (T2NN-HS-CE) approach with HyperSoft to solve MADM problems involving T2NNs. A numerical case study and sensitivity analysis validate the effectiveness of the proposed method in assessing the innovation capacity of cities in developing nations. © 2025, University of New Mexico. To address the issues of low delivery efficiency, high carbon emissions, and elevated distribution costs in fresh cold chain logistics under the O2O mode, a comprehensive optimization model is constructed. This model considers business profitability, environmental benefits, fresh product characteristics, and customer timeliness requirements to optimize cold chain logistics distribution paths in the O2O mode. A three-stage algorithm comprising region partitioning, region adjustment, and path optimization is designed to solve this NP-hard problem. In the first stage, delivery regions are initially partitioned using the K-Means clustering algorithm. In the second stage, load balance indicators are introduced to adjust the delivery regions. In the third stage, a genetic algorithm is designed to solve the optimal delivery paths for each region. Empirical results show that after region partitioning and adjustment, delivery distance decreases by 15.39%, and early or delayed delivery rates decrease by 59.08%, significantly improving delivery efficiency. Furthermore, considering carbon emissions, a single delivery center can reduce daily emissions by 23.13%, resulting in a 22.98% cost saving for businesses. These results validate the scientific and practical effectiveness of the model and provide valuable references for similar logistics enterprises. © Beijing Paike Culture Commu. Co., Ltd. 2025.

Multi-period hub network design from a dual perspective: An integrated approach considering congestion, demand uncertainty, and service quality optimization

This study introduces a hub network design problem that considers three key factors: congestion, demand uncertainty, and multi-periodicity. Unlike classical models, which tend to address these factors separately, our model considers them simultaneously, providing a more realistic representation of hub network design challenges. Our model also incorporates service level considerations of network users, extending beyond the focus on transportation costs. Service quality is evaluated using two measures: travel time and the number of hubs visited during travel. Moreover, our model allows for adjustments in capacity levels and network structure throughout the planning horizon, adding a dynamic and realistic aspect to the problem setting. The inherent nonlinear nonconvex integer programming problem is reformulated into a mixed-integer second-order cone programming (SOCP) problem. To manage the model's complexity, we propose an exact solution algorithm based on Benders decomposition, where the sub-problems are solved using a column generation technique. The efficacy of the solution approach is demonstrated through extensive computational experiments. Additionally, we discuss the benefits of each considered feature in terms of transportation costs and their impact on network structure, providing insights for the field. © 2025 The Authors

A chance-constrained knapsack problem (CCKP) is a knapsack problem restricted by a chance constraint, which ensures that the total capacity constraint under uncertain volume can be violated only up to a given probability threshold. CCKP is challenging to solve due to its combinatorial nature and the involvement of its chance constraint. Existing solution methods for CCKP with tractability guarantees mainly focus on two approaches: (1) a full-information approach (stochastic programming) that assumes the uncertain volume follows certain distributions, such as normal or empirical distribution;(2) a partial-information approach (robust optimization) that adopts specific statistics of the unknown distribution, such as the mean and variance. The existing full-information approach lacks robustness under limited samples due to its strong assumption;the existing partial-information approach can be further improved, as the uncertainty set or distributional ambiguity set can be ameliorated. With these concerns in mind, we propose a nonparametric robust approach for CCKP by involving a novel nonparametric statistic to form a new distributional ambiguity set. Furthermore, we develop an upper bound on the violation probability of the chance constraint under the distributional ambiguity set to approximate CCKP by a deterministic robust counterpart. In terms of solution methodology, we decompose the deterministic robust counterpart into cardinality-constrained knapsack problems, which can be efficiently solved by the proposed dynamic programming algorithm. Computational results show that our proposed solution methods produce better solutions to CCKP compared with existing approaches. © 2025 Society for Industrial and Applied Mathematics.
