Orthogonal Frequency Division Multiplexing (OFDM) systems may suffer from both carrier frequency offset (CFO) and in-phase/quadrature-phase (I/Q) imbalance at the receiver front end. In this paper, a novel type of intercarrier interference (ICI) self-cancellation method using mirror mapping is proposed to combat these impairment. Based on the proposed novel method and by adopting two widely used mapping operations, we altogether derive two different mirror mapping schemes. Analysis and simulation results verify that the proposed mirror mapping schemes not only inherit the efficiency of the existing self-cancellation schemes in suppressing ICI caused by CFO but also have the ability of compressing or even eliminating IQ imbalance. © 2011 IEEE.

We have proposed a practical power assist robotic cart, which we call 'Robotic Follower', to support daily lives of the patients undergoing Home Oxygen Therapy (HOT). And to achieve the purpose, we have developed several types of Robotic Follower. In this paper, we describe our newly developed Robotic Follower with which the inverted pendulum control technology is applied to control Robotic Follower, and then we investigate its effectiveness and prove its availability.

A variety of studies on Stereo Matching Algorithms present that the process of Stereo Matching Algorithms can be reduced to five stages. The core three stages of Stereo Matching Algorithms are the attainment of initial match cost, the generation of candidate match cost and parallax calculation. Based on this theoretical, the grading test platform for stereo matching methods was present, on the context of using vc++6.0 to realize class encapsulation in each stage. There are four kinds of image to control data stream and unified interface between classes in this platform. Testing platform was divided into three parts - area of images-displaying, area of time-displaying and area of parameter-input In the images-displaying area, different parameters can be selected to control the execution of different algorithms. In the time-displaying area, the length of time of different algorithms can be compared, meanwhile, the bottleneck to improve the real time of algorithms can be detected. Performance-checking experiments of the test platform show it is excellent;its structure is clear;its function is perfect;its operation is simple;its expansibility is good.

In this paper, an advanced PSO has been proposed to solve multi-modal functions optimization. Multiple swarms are used to optimize parallel search and artificial repulsive potential field on local points are set up to prevent multiple swarm converging to the same place and repeatedly search. In addition, this paper provides a theoretical basis for the strategy of multi-swarm parallel search used in the advanced algorithm. Finally, the method is tested on some benchmark functions and the results show a superior performance compared to the others PSO variant.

This paper is concerned with the problem of Hα filtering for a class of discrete-time linear parameter-varying (LPV) systems with Markovian switching under data missing and quantization. A stochastic variable is used to describe the model of the data missing phenomenon. Then a H α filter is designed to guarantee the filtering error dynamics is stochastically stable with Hα performance. The existence of the desired Hα filter is ensured by some sufficient conditions expressed in terms of parameterized linear matrix inequalities (PLMIs). The proposed theoretical findings are validated by numerical results. © 2011 Chinese Assoc of Automati.

This paper presents a medical application of the intelligent sensing, a new lung tumor motion prediction method for tumor following radiation therapy. An essential core of the method is accurate estimation of complex fluctuation of time-variant periodical nature of lung tumor motion. Such estimation can be achieved by using a novel multiple time-variant seasonal autoregressive integral moving average (TVSARIMA) model in which several windows of different lengths are used to calculate correlation based time-variant periods of the motion. The proposed method provides the resulting prediction as a combination of those based on different window lengths. We have compared unweighted average, multiple regression, and multilayer perceptron (MLP) for the combinations with some conventional predictions by using real data of lung tumor motion. The proposed methods with the multiple regression and MLP based combinations showed high accurate prediction and are superior to the single TVSARIMA based prediction. The best prediction performance was achieved by using the MLP based combination. The average errors were 0.7953 ± 0.0243 mm at 0.5 s ahead and 0.8581±0.0510 mm at 1.0 s ahead predictions, respectively. The results of the proposed method are clinically sufficient and superior to the conventional methods. Thus the proposed TVSARIMA with an appropriate combination method is useful for improving the prediction performance.

The event-triggered H_(infinity) control design is investigated for networked control systems with uncertainties and transmission delays. A novel event-triggering scheme is proposed, which has some advantages over traditional ones with a continuous detector. Considering the effect of the transmission delay, a delay system model for the analysis is firstly constructed. Then, based on the model and Lyapunov functional method, criteria for the stability with an H_(infinity) norm bound and criteria for the co-design of both the feedback gain and the trigger parameters are derived. In order to solve the feedback gain and the trigger parameters, the linear matrix inequality technique is employed. From the simulation example, it can be concluded that the proposed event-triggering scheme is superior to some other event-triggering schemes in some existing literature.

The active train plan should be adjusted or a new plan should be created to deal with the exceptional case brought by the special operation conditions in high-speed rail, such as natural disasters, accidents, and large passenger flow, and so on,. How to evaluate the reasonality of the new plan is important. A fuzzy analytic hierarchy process (FAHP) combined qualitative and quantitative analysis is put forward to solve the problem. Firstly, an evaluation index system for high-speed railway train plan on the special operation conditions is built, and the indexes are made dimensionless. Then the relative weights of evaluation indexes are determined by analytic hierarchy process, and high-speed railway train plans on the special operation conditions are evaluated by comprehensive fuzzy evaluation method. Finally, Beijing-Shanghai high-speed rail is taken as example. The special operation condition is simulated and the corresponding train plans are created and evaluated. Then the rank of the plans can be obtained. The simulation results show that the fuzzy analytic hierarchy process (FAHP) is a feasible method to evaluate the high-speed railway train plans on the special operation conditions.

Radial basis function (RBF) network is one of the significant neural networks. It has been used successfully in various fields. But in RBF network approximation algorithm, the initial value of the network weights, Gauss function center vector and broad-based vector is not easy to determine, and when these parameter choice is undeserved, RBF network approximation precision will decline and even the serious consequences of network spread will be produced. By using genetic algorithm in this paper, which can better realize RBF network parameter optimization, thereby increasing the accuracy of approximation. Scilab is open source software and has good simulation capabilities. Experiments using Scilab shows that the optimization method of genetic neural network is feasible and results are satisfied.

This paper presents a discrete event-triggered communication scheme for a class of networked Takagi-Sugeno (T-S) fuzzy systems. This scheme has two main features: i) whether or not the sampled state should be transmitted is determined by the current sampled state and the error between the current sampled state and the latest transmitted state, and ii) it is a discrete event-triggered communication scheme since the triggered conditions are measured and checked at the discrete sampling instant. Next, an asynchronous networked T-S fuzzy model is delicately constructed, which not only includes the state error, but also considers the non-uniform time scales in the networked T-S fuzzy model and the parallel distributed compensation fuzzy control rules. Then, using the Lyapunov-Krasovskii functional techniques, two sufficient conditions are derived for system analysis and synthesis, respectively. In particular, the derived stabilization criterion can provide a tradeoff to balance the required communication resources and the desired performance. Finally, a numerical example is given to show the effectiveness of the proposed method.
