This paper mainly studies the relationship between timbre perception features and emotion in musical sounds. Firstly, a five - dimensional emotional space was determined by multidimensional scaling analysis. Then emotional labeling subjective evaluation experiments were carried out for 72 scale materials and 48 melody materials of timbre to obtain emotional data of timbre materials. The correlation between timbre perception features and emotion is studied according to the playing content, temporal characteristics, and musical instrument types. Finally, a set of mathematical models of the relationship between timbre perception features and emotion was established by the method of multiple linear regression. The experimental results show that the features of timbre perception are an important effect on musical emotion, and these models have good predictive ability for the five emotion dimensions.

A method for SAR image processing and target detection based on two-dimensional singularity power spectrum (2D-SPS) in time-frequency domain is proposed in this paper. Firstly, the two-dimensional pseudo Wigner-Ville distribution (2D-PWVD) is carried out on the SAR image. Then, the two-dimensional singularity power spectrum estimation is performed on the local delay components of 2D-PWVD to obtain the three-dimensional singularity power spectral SAR (SPS-SAR) functions. Furthermore, a novel SAR target detection method based on SPS-SAR is introduced. The proposed methodology is tested on SAR images, both with and without weak targets, from the OpenSAR dataset. Experiment results show that the proposed method performs better than traditional method based on fractal theory, and can achieve higher detection probability in the complex scene with low SNR. It can provide more details for SAR image analysis and offer a new idea for SAR target detection.

Unmanned aerial vehicle (UAV) assisted relaying has become the focus of the next generation network owing to its superiority of low cost and swift deployment. In addition, the orthogonal frequency division multiplexing (OFDM) based simultaneous wireless information and power transfer (SWIPT) is known to have significant advantages in system complexity compared to the traditional time-switching (TS) and power-splitting (PS) techniques. Since the UAV is known to have limited size, weight and power, we investigate the OFDM-based SWIPT for a multi-source-destination UAV relaying system in this paper. With the purpose of maximizing the average transmission rate (ATR) under the constraint of the harvested energy, we jointly optimize user scheduling, resource allocation and UAV trajectory. To tackle this issue, we first divide it into three subproblems of user scheduling, power and subcarrier allocation, and UAV trajectory optimization. Subsequently, the user scheduling subproblem is optimally solved. The power and subcarrier subproblem is approximately solved by addressing its dual problem and the UAV trajectory optimization subproblem is addressed by successive convex approximation technique. Then, we put forward an iterative algorithm based on block coordinate descent method by solving the three subproblems alternately. Numerical results demonstrate that our proposed algorithm is preferable than the two benchmark schemes. © 2002-2012 IEEE.

Simultaneously transmitting/refracting and reflecting reconfigurable intelligent surface (STAR-RIS) has been introduced to achieve full coverage area. This paper investigate the performance of STAR-RIS assisted non-orthogonal multiple access (NOMA) networks over Rician fading channels, where the incidence signals sent by base station are reflected and transmitted to the nearby user and distant user, respectively. To evaluate the performance of STAR-RIS-NOMA networks, we derive new approximate expressions of outage probability and ergodic rate for a pair of users, in which the imperfect successive interference cancellation (ipSIC) and perfect SIC (pSIC) schemes are taken into consideration. Based on the asymptotic expressions, the diversity orders of the nearby user with ipSIC/pSIC and distant user are achieved carefully. The high signal-to-noise ratio slopes of ergodic rates for nearby user with pSIC and distant user are equal to one and zero, respectively. In addition, the system throughput of STAR-RIS-NOMA is discussed in delay-limited and delay-tolerant modes. Simulation results are provided to verify the accuracy of the theoretical analyses and demonstrate that: 1) The outage probability of STAR-RIS-NOMA outperforms that of STAR-RIS assisted orthogonal multiple access (OMA) and conventional cooperative communication systems;2) With the increasing of reflecting elements K and Rician factor κ, the STAR-RIS-NOMA networks are capable of attaining the enhanced performance;and 3) The ergodic rates of STAR-RIS-NOMA are superior to that of STAR-RIS-OMA. Electrocardiography (ECG) is a mandatory standard for monitoring electrical activity of the heart in many clinical settings such as intensive care and emergency units. However, in situations wherein the skin is damaged, such as acute burn injuries, it is impossible to efficiently attach electrodes to the skin. In this study, we developed a non-contact cardiac monitoring system using a 24-GHz medical radar for directly measuring the beat-to-beat heart mechanical activity at a distance from a subject. The heart rate variability (HRV) was analysed using an autoregressive model (AR) from the measured beat-to-beat intervals during a head-up tilt test. To investigate the feasibility of the proposed system, we compared medical radar and ECG recording by using Lin’s correlation coefficient and Bland–Altman analysis, which showed a negligible mean difference from the substantial agreement of Lin’s correlation coefficient of 0.9 between the radar and ECG. The non-contact radar clearly monitored dynamic changes in HRV indices induced by the head-up tilt test. This type of non-contact HRV-sensing technique as an alternative approach has significant potential for advancing personal healthcare in both clinical and out-of-hospital settings. © 2019, © 2019 Informa UK Limited, trading as Taylor & Francis Group.

This paper had investigated the perception of visual comfort for the disparity gradient of stereoscopic 3D(S3D) image though subjective evaluation experiments. For the extraction of gradient features, the calculation of absolute disparity and relative disparity were all considered. The experiment result shown that the relative disparity gradient mainly affects the visual comfort under the circumstance of positive disparity, while the absolute disparity gradient would affect the viewing experience with negative disparity. As a whole, the higher both the disparity gradient was, the lower the rating score was. The research achievement is of practical value, which can not only provide importance experimental support for the visual perception mechanism, but also offer the valid basis for feature extraction of stereoscopic images. © 2019 IEEE.

In this paper, we will propose a super wide bandwidth low frequency antenna with a compact size for HF, VHF and UHF applications. The developed low frequency antenna consists of coplanar guide feeding structure, sleeve-like structure with lumped elements, reactance loading in the feeding. The antenna is investigated and evaluated in the HFSS, and the simulation results shows that the proposed antenna has a very wide fractional bandwidth of 191.9% from 10 MHz to 481 MHz for supporting the HF, VHF, UHF and P-band detection system applications in various platform like aircraft, ship and vehicles.

Nowadays, visual comfort and stereo viewing experience are both important indicators for the assessment of Stereoscopic 3D (S3D) image. This paper mainly uses subjective evaluation method to study the perception experience for multiple display devices under varied modes and sizes: time-division 3D screen and 3D projector. A computer-generated object is set as the 3D target, with different parallax magnitude and color. The evaluating indicators include visual comfort, space perception and volume perception. The experimental results proved that in different display modes, the parallax magnitude and color have different effects on the perceived effect. Overall, the time-division screen showed better display performance than the projection. This data and analysis will provide foundational research for the related study of objective assessment of S3D images, and is helpful for the further development of display technology.
