The transmit/receive robust adaptive beamformer design of a multiple-input multiple-output (MIMO) radar system is studied in this paper. We first construct the interference covariance matrix via a shrink-based approach. Then, the desired transmit-receive steering vector (SV) is estimated through maximizing the output power upon the cooperative constraint and norm constraints under the presumed SV. An iterative procedure is designed to deal with the original nonconvex problem, whose convergence is analytically proven with the estimated SV. Simulation results show the merits of the proposed design in various scenarios. © 2019 IEEE.

Industrial Internet of things (IoT) environment is one of the typical scenarios in the beyond fifth generation (B5G) networks. In this paper, a general three dimensional (3D) geometry-based stochastic model (GBSM) is proposed for the industrial IoT environments. Typical channel parameters, such as the power, delay, azimuth angle of arrival (AAOA), azimuth angle of departure (AAOD), elevation angle of arrival (EAOA), elevation angle of departure (EAOD) are combined to model the channel impulse response (CIR). The spatial consistency of the parameter is achieved by the sum of sinusoids (SOS) method. The spatial non-stationarity is modeled by describing the birth and death of the clusters under the industrial environments. To support the broadband channel, the CIR is modeled at each bin of the whole spectrum and the frequency correlation of the parameters is taken into account. Extensive simulated and measured results validate the credibility of the proposed model.

A novel stochastic channel impulse response matrix (CIRM) model for massive multiple input multiple output (MI-MO) channels is proposed in this papen Under the framework of this proposed model, the CIRM can be modeled as a sum of couplings between the steering vectors at the base station (BS) end and the eigenbases at the mobile station (MS) side. The fading of the coupling between the steering vector and the eigenbase is modeled as Nakagami distribution. Furthermore, the closed form of the capacity is derived based on the proposed framework. Compared with the traditional Weibchselberger model, the proposed model has lower complexity. To validate the proposed model, extensive massive MIMO channel measurements are carried out in an indoor environment The results show that the new model provides a better fit to the measured results than Weibchselberger model. Finally, the closed form and PDF are validated by Monte Carlo realizations of the proposed model. This CIRM model can be used for massive MIMO design in future fifth-generation communication system design.

Objective Secure communication based on chaotic lasers has gained significant attention in recent years due to its high speed and compatibility with existing fiber-optic networks. Vertical-cavity surface-emitting lasers (VCSELs) are promising candidates, offering a compact structure and low power consumption. However, VCSELs are constrained by chaotic bandwidth limitations induced by relaxation oscillations, which reduce the secure transmission rate. Existing methods for broadening the chaos bandwidth often rely on complex external perturbations, which may hinder system synchronization. We propose a simplified method for generating broadband chaos by utilizing the relaxation-oscillation-free polarization mode of VCSELs. Methods We present a novel approach for generating broadband chaos by utilizing the relaxation-oscillation-free polarization mode of VCSELs. The experimental setup (Fig. 1) employs a custom single-mode VCSEL with a wavelength of 1550 nm and no internal isolator. The laser is powered by a low-noise current source and is equipped with precise temperature control to ensure stable operation. Optical feedback is provided via a fiber mirror, with its intensity regulated by a variable optical attenuator. Polarization controllers are used to align the feedback polarization, directing X mode feedback to the X mode and Y mode feedback to the Y mode. The output signals are separated into X+Y, X, and Y modes using polarization beam splitters. The spectral, temporal, and dynamic properties of the VCSEL are analyzed using an optical spectrum analyzer, a high-speed oscilloscope, and an electrical spectrum analyzer. Key parameters, including bias current and feedback strength, are systematically varied and optimized to investigate their effects on chaos generation, with the aim of identifying the optimal conditions for achieving broadband chaos with the desired characteristics. This study proposes an analytical method for calibrating and orienting online photogrammetric systems using a scale bar. The primary idea is building control lengths in the measurement volume by moving and rotating the scale bar and then conducting a self-calibration bundle adjustment using images of the control lengths. In this study, the five-point relative orientation method is used to provide estimations of the exterior camera parameters. Additionally, this study elaborates the model of the lengths constrained self-calibration bundle adjustment, the block computation algorithm and the accuracy assessment. This method obtains both the interior and the exterior orientation parameters of the two cameras, and provides spatial bar length reconstruction precision as the performance evaluation. Simulations are conducted to analyze the calibration accuracy and the results show that the method achieves comparable accuracy and precision against the state-of-the-art method. However, the method does not need steady and well distributed 3D points and is easy to operate. Real data experimental results show that the maximum length measurement error of this method in a volume of 5 m × 4 m × 2 m is © 2019 Institution of engineering and technology. All rights reserved.

The paper discusses new trends within communication protocols of the Internet of Things (IoT), focusing especially on the enhancement of the IoT’s real-time abilities and summarizing the long-term knowledge and experience of the authors. Considering the previous standardization attempts of the ISO and IEEE, we may expect that the novel research projects will facilitate major progress in real-time communication systems to satisfy common requirements of industrial automation, information and audiovisual technologies, mechanical engineering, management, banking, medical care, and multiple other sectors covered by the Internet of Things (IoT). In this context, time-sensitive networks (TSNs) appear to embody a most effective approach to securing reliable communication for the future.

A segmentation multi-dimensional crest factor reduction （SMD-CFR） algorithm is proposed for multi-service supporting digital radio over fibre （DRoF） system. Benefit from segmentation dynamic clipping threshold and clipping factor got basing on characteristics of all service bands, the SMD-CFR is able to get better peak clipping and peak to average power ratio （PAPR） reduction for multi-band combined signal. Simulation results show that SMD-CFR gets more than 2.3 reduction in PAPR for two-bands combined signal of long term evolution （LTE） , which is much better than traditional one dimensional （1D）-CFR. Meanwhile, for 64-quadrature amplitude modulation （QAM） modulation and demodulation link, it has very small effect on bit error rate （BER） and error vector magnitude （EVM） , which are controlled less than 0. 1% and 0.2% respectively. For hardware experiment, SMD-CFR obtains 4.5% increase in drain efficiency and about 4 dBc increase in adjacent channel leakage ratio （ACLR）. These are very significant for the wide band power amplifier （PA） in multi-service supporting DRoF system.

In the field of indoor positioning, ultra-wideband (UWB) communication technology is the key technology. But the errors caused by non-line of sight (NLOS) communication channels could greatly affect the positioning accuracy. Therefore, identifying the channel type can effectively avoid the above-mentioned errors, thereby helping to reduce the loss of positioning accuracy. This paper proposes a LOS/NLOS channel identification method by using a convolutional neural network (CNN) to identifying the impulse response figures of the channels. This method is capable of identifying four different types of channel impulse response figures and providing excellent identification accuracy. The results show that the accuracy of identifying LOS (0-4m), NLOS (0-4m), NLOS (4-10m) and extreme NLOS channel impulse response figures can reach 98.24%.

In order to provide the system with the inertia support through wind turbine rotor kinetic energy when the power of the power system fluctuates, the virtual synchronous generator (VSG) control strategy is adopted to the grid-connected inverter of the permanent magnet synchronous generator (PMSG), which can actively adjust the imbalance power caused by the system fluctuations, and provide the system with inertia support at the initial stage of system disturbance. And meanwhile a new parallel control method is proposed for wind turbines in this paper. The master-slave control strategy is adopted by the wind turbine machine-side converter, which can realize the collection and transmission of DC power, and reduce the number of inverters, save economic costs and avoid many problems caused by the connection of AC power. Finally, the performance and effectiveness of the proposed method are validated by the simulation results.

Enhanced maturation and heavy metal stabilization by humic substance addition during dredged sediments composting

Composting is a promising approach for the resource utilization of dredged sediments, but maturity and heavy metals (HMs) remain key challenges. This study investigates the effects of humic acid (HA) and fulvic acid (FA) as additives on the humification process and HMs stabilization during composting. Results showed that HA and FA extended the thermophilic phase by 1–3 days. Compared to the control group, HA and FA increased the total nitrogen content in the final product by 12.7 %-21.4 %. Both HA and FA promoted the transformation of HMs into more stable forms, with the residual cobalt fraction increasing by 9.2 % (HA) and 10.3 % (FA), thus stabilizing the HMs. The addition of HA and FA accelerated the humification process, as evidenced by the increased formation of aromatic carbon in dissolved organic matter, resulting in an increase in the humic acid-like material content by 6.5 % and 15.3 %, respectively. The optimization of microbial diversity and community structure was one of the key factors driving the accelerated humification and HMs passivation. The Ace index in the experimental groups increased by 9.8 % (HA) and 22.0 % (FA). During the thermophilic phase, HA and FA inhibited harmful microorganisms and promoted the growth of beneficial bacteria such as Bacillus and Pseudomonas . Canonical correspondence analysis revealed that the addition of HA and FA increased pH and electrical conductivity (EC), which in turn enhanced the abundance of HMs-passivating bacteria. These results underscore the potential of FA as an effective additive for dredged sediment composting, enhancing compost quality and mitigating environmental risks linked to HMs contamination.
