Salient object detection (SOD), which aims to identify and locate the most salient pixels or regions in images, has been attracting more and more interest due to its various real-world applications. However, this vision task is quite challenging, especially under complex image scenes. Inspired by the intrinsic reflection of natural images, in this paper we propose a novel feature learning framework for large-scale salient object detection. Specifically, we design a symmetrical fully convolutional network (SFCN) to effectively learn complementary saliency features under the guidance of lossless feature reflection. The location information, together with contextual and semantic information, of salient objects are jointly utilized to supervise the proposed network for more accurate saliency predictions. In addition, to overcome the blurry boundary problem, we propose a new weighted structural loss function to ensure clear object boundaries and spatially consistent saliency. The coarse prediction results are effectively refined by these structural information for performance improvements. Extensive experiments on seven saliency detection datasets demonstrate that our approach achieves consistently superior performance and outperforms the very recent state-of-the-art methods with a large margin. Quantum computation promises applications1-3that are thought to be impossible with classical computation. To realize practical quantum computation, the following three properties will be necessary: universality, scalability, and fault-tolerance. Universality is the ability to execute arbitrary multi-input quantum algorithms. Scalability means that computational resources such as logical qubits can be increased without requiring exponential increase in physical resources. Lastly, fault-tolerance is the ability to perform quantum algorithms in presence of imperfections and noise. A promising approach to scalability was demonstrated with the generation of onemillion-mode 1-dimensional cluster state3, a resource for one-input computation in measurement-based quantum computation (MBQC)5,6. The demonstration was based on time-domain multiplexing (TDM) approach2,4,8using continuous-variable (CV) optical flying qumodes (CV analogue of qubit). Demonstrating universality, however, has been a challenging task for any physical system and approach. Here, we present, for the first time among any physical system, experimental realization of a scalable resource state for universal MBQC: a 2-dimensional cluster state. We also prove the universality and give the methodology for utilizing this state in MBQC. Our state is based on TDM approach that allows unlimited resource generation regardless of the coherence time of the system. As a demonstration of our method, we generate and verify a 2-dimensional cluster state capable of about 5,000 operation steps on 5 inputs. Note that there are no limitation on the number of operation steps, and the number of inputs can be increased by several orders of magnitude with current technology10,11. Furthermore, by increasing the squeezing level, fault-tolerance can also be achieved by combining our method with error correction schemes for CV cluster states12,13. In this work, the result of the initial attempt to propose an Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN) digital security and interoperability standard to support the mobility among ASEAN countries is presented. Literature reviews on existing coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) related digital technologies of six ASEAN member countries are conducted. Several concerns related to creating/implementing the ASEAN digital security and interoperability standard are discussed including the technology accessing concern, the data security and privacy concern, and the data interoperability and availability concern. The proposed solution toward creating an ASEAN digital security and interoperability standard is then presented. To evaluate the proposed solution, a survey has been conducted on representatives of nine ASEAN countries on four main issues including the security standards and requirements, the interoperability standard and requirements, the certifications, and the implementation challenges. According to the survey and the discussion, seven recommendations were proposed toward creating an ASEAN digital security and interoperability standard. First, each country collects and maintains the data of its own citizens and also provides a method to authenticate and access the data by authorized requests. Second, QR code standard or ASEAN QR code standard must be agreed upon so that it can be authenticated and verified by ASEAN countries. Third, health risk assessment must be agreed upon to be used. Forth, the security standard, the data, the data format and the exchange protocol must be agreed upon at the ASEAN policy level while adoption of international standards as an implementation guideline will ease of the process and neutralize different requirements from various countries. With the increasingly rampancy of network attacks and the steady progress of the national smart grid construction, the security protection of the power industrial control system is facing severe challenges. It is an effective means to improve the overall defense capability of the power industrial control system by formulating the security collaborative defense strategy and dynamically configuring the relevant equipment to make them have linkage response. For this purpose, a method of conflict detection for cooperative defense strategy in power industrial control system is proposed in this paper. Based on the formal description of cooperative defense strategy, the type of policy conflicts is analyzed according to the relationship between policy actions and system states. And the policy execution is simulated for detecting conflict by establishing the temporal relationship between policy actions. The experimental results show that this method can reduce the dependence on the system administrator, and can quickly and accurately find the conflicts in the collaborative defense strategy.

A new dynamical system exhibiting chaos and a torso-like set of rest points is reported in this research work. In more detail, the rest points of the new chaotic nonlinear plant are a pair of open curves of rest points that are symmetric about the coordinate axes. Qualitative dynamical properties shedding more light on the dynamical texture of the system are displayed with phase plots. The new chaotic plant displays hidden attractor as it features infinite number of rest points. Using integral sliding mode control, we have also discussed the regulation of the states of the new nonlinear plant to set-point controls. © 2018 IEEE.

A novel regional path tracking description is presented in this manuscript, and the moving horizon control method that is model predictive control(MPC) is proposed to discuss the regional path tracking issue which could avoid colliding road boundary when tracking a more complex road effectively. The feasible region for autonomous ground vehicles(AGVs) running is determined first according to the detected road ***, in order to keep the actual trajectory of AGVs in the region and satisfy the safety requirements, MPC method is employed to design the path tracking controller considering actuator and road boundary *** order to verify the effectiveness of the proposed method, experiments based on Hongqi AGV HQ430 are carried out, and the results illustrate that the presented method could be successfully applied to Hongqi AGV vehicle HQ 430.

Joint estimation of DOA and frequency with sub-nyquist sampling in a binary array radar system

Recently, several array radar structures combined with sub-Nyquist techniques and corresponding algorithms have been extensively studied. Carrier frequency and direction-of-arrival (DOA) estimations of multiple narrow-band signals received by array radars at the sub-Nyquist rates are considered in this paper. We propose a new sub-Nyquist array radar architecture (a binary array radar separately connected to a multi-coset structure with M branches) and an efficient joint estimation algorithm which can match frequencies up with corresponding DOAs. We further come up with a delay pattern augmenting method, by which the capability of the number of identifiable signals can increase from M − 1 to Q − 1 (Q is extended degrees of freedom). We further conclude that the minimum total sampling rate 2MB is sufficient to identify K ≤ Q − 1 narrow-band signals of maximum bandwidth B inside. The effectiveness and performance of the estimation algorithm together with the augmenting method have been verified by simulations. Copyright © 2018, The Authors. All rights reserved.

Hybrid fiber Bragg grating sensor for vibration and temperature monitoring of a train bearing

We report a fiber Bragg grating（FBG）-based sensor for the simultaneous measurement of a train bearing’s vibration and temperature. A pre-stretched optical fiber with an FBG and a mass is designed for axial vibration sensing. Another multiplexed FBG is embedded in a selected copper-based alloy with a high thermal expansion to detect temperature. Experiments show that the sensor possesses a high resonant frequency of 970 Hz, an acceleration sensitivity of 27.28 pm/g, and a high temperature sensitivity of 35.165 pm/℃. A resonant excitation test is also carried out that demonstrates the robustness and reliability of the sensor.
