In cellular systems, the combination of Device-to- Device (D2D) communication and relaying is an efficient means for improving network coverage and transmissions quality without additional infrastructure deployment. It enables communication between user pairs in situations when both their direct D2D transmission and the traditional communication via the base station experience poor channel quality. In this paper, we propose a joint relaying-operation selection and power-allocation scheme, herein called HyD2D, for relay-assisted D2D communication in Rician fading environment. The target is to choose the set of communication links that minimizes the power consumption, while ensuring a minimum success probability. To overcome the nonconvexity of the outage probability constraints under Rician fading, we use the concept of coherent-measure- of-risk from the field of finance. We therefore obtain a linear programming formulation that we can efficiently solve. Simulations show that HyD2D selects the most energy- efficient relaying operation that satisfies the success probability requirement, while leveraging only statistical channel state information. © 2017 IEEE.

This paper presents a lower limb rehabilitation control system designed to train stroke patients by providing variable damping on the knee joint. The hardware based on the controller TMS320F28335 digital signal processor (DSP) and the software based on the DSP/BIOS embedded operation system are designed. The effective control of brushless DC (BLDC) motor can be implemented by combining with the upper impedance control algorithms and the underlying field-oriented control (FOC) control algorithm, which improves the performance of rehabilitation robot control system. The proposed integrated control system has robustness, dependability and works in real-time, and is easy to be upgraded and expanded. © 2017 Inderscience Enterprises Ltd.

The increasing number of collisions at intersections calls for a reliable and safe, real time collision warning system that can alert the drivers about a potential collision. Although many kinds of collision warning systems are available, the problems related to acceleration change and curved road scenarios are to be considered to improve the accuracy of the system. In the proposed paper, an efficient intersection collision avoidance system for straight and curved roads are considered. The objective of the project is to predict the location of the vehicle 10 seconds in future. The location, speed and heading information of a vehicle are available through a GPS device. Accelerometer provides the acceleration/deceleration information of the vehicles. Kalman filter with GPS and accelerometer as inputs can be used to predict the future location of the vehicle. These predicted locations are checked to be on the road or not using GIS map. If off road, the locations are projected onto the road with the help of the coordinate data. A warning message in the form of alarms or lights are generated when the distance between the predicted locations of the host vehicle and target vehicle falls below a threshold value. Position information are exchanged between the vehicles using Dedicated Short Range communication. The MATLAB simulation results validate our proposed system by reducing the prediction error with the combination of GIS and kalman filter. False alarms are reduced considerably in the proposed system for collision avoidance. © 2016 IEEE.

Relay-pair selection in buffer-aided successive opportunistic relaying using a multi-antenna source

We study a cooperative network with a buffer-aided multi-antenna source, multiple half-duplex (HD) buffer-aided relays and a single destination. Such a setup could represent a cellular downlink scenario, in which the source can be a more powerful wireless device with a buffer and multiple antennas, while a set of intermediate less powerful devices are used as relays to reach the destination. The main target is to recover the multiplexing loss of the network by having the source and a relay to simultaneously transmit their information to another relay and the destination, respectively. Successive transmissions in such a cooperative network, however, cause inter-relay interference (IRI). First, by assuming global channel state information (CSI), we show that the detrimental effect of IRI can be alleviated by precoding at the source, mitigating or even fully cancelling the interference. A cooperative relaying policy is proposed that employs a joint precoding design and relay-pair selection. Note that both fixed rate and adaptive rate transmissions can be considered. For the case when channel state information is only available at the receiver side (CSIR), we propose a relay selection policy that employs a phase alignment technique to reduce the IRI. The performance of the two proposed relay pair selection policies are evaluated and compared with other state-of-the-art relaying schemes in terms of outage and throughput. The paper presents a limit analysis of psychophyslcal methods which is designed for the changes in visual perception of when visual stimulus appear alternately. The purpose of this experiment is to reveal the quantizing relationship between stimulate and feeling response. Meanwhile, we studied the perception of image on visual information considering the color psychological attributes to clarify the changes of visual perception when image information presented by limit analysis approach. Based on the psychological scale, the test images were divided into three types using psychophyslcal analysis. The test results of psychophyslcal methods also were validated, focusing the verifications on the correctness of the main image date behind the limit analysis. The images data is derived from entropy, moment of inertia, local balance, and correlation. Both the two kinds of analysis arrived at the same conclusion, which turned out that the image perception happens in emotional process and depends upon the psychophyslcal property and signal superposition response.

The particularity of the prison decides the importance of its security system, and how to improve the accuracy of personnel positioning for prison monitoring system is the problem to be solved to realize intelligent prison monitoring management. RFID positioning technology with non line-of-sight transmission and large transmission range is widely applied in the personnel positioning system. RFID technology is used to design the monitoring and management system of prison in this paper. The Trilateral Ranging Method was adopted to realize personnel positioning. RSSI positioning algorithm its technology is relatively simple was adopted when calculating the trilateral distance and correcting the errors in order to improve the positioning precision. Simulation test results show that the positioning precision for the distance between a single reader and the tag is increased by 2.17% on average, up to 4.54% after the error correction. The personnel location coordinates, X direction average error is 2.96%, average error is 3.12%, Y direction, and meeting the requirements of the system design. © 2016 SERSC.

Cooperative geolocation has attracted significant research interests in recent years. A large number of localization algorithms rely on the availability of statistical knowledge of measurement errors, which is often difficult to obtain in practice. Compared with the statistical knowledge of measurement errors, it can often be easier to obtain the measurement error bound. This work investigates a localization problem assuming unknown measurement error distribution except for a bound on the error. We first formulate this localization problem as an optimization problem to minimize the worst-case estimation error, which is shown to be a non-convex optimization problem. Then, relaxation is applied to transform it into a convex one. Furthermore, we propose a distributed algorithm to solve the problem, which will converge in a few iterations. Simulation results show that the proposed algorithms are more robust to large measurement errors than existing algorithms in the literature. Our research is about the effects of non-photorealistic rendering in the perception of stereoscopic cinema. We conducted a study with 27 participants, using eye-tracker to evaluate ocular behavior during the free viewing of a stereoscopic film. We obtained ocular fixation data that were correlated with visual entropy. Gaze data leads us to believe that facing a highly abstract non-photorealistic scene the gaze seems to react under the effect of a perceptive anxiety. This ocular response seems to spontaneously assign greater sensorimotor resources to the analysis of the character's behavior, transforming his face into the main key to analyse the information and sense of the global scene. This behavior appears to us as an adaptive response to a visual environment endowed with abstraction and cognitive uncertainty. Our results could be useful for conceiving new non-photorealistic rendering tools for 3D films and cinematic virtual reality.

We propose an experimental design for universal continuous-variable quantum computation that incorporates recent innovations in linear-optics-based continuous-variable cluster state generation and cubic-phase gate teleportation. The first ingredient is a protocol for generating the bilayer-square-lattice cluster state (a universal resource state) with temporal modes of light. With this state, measurement-based implementation of Gaussian unitary gates requires only homodyne detection. Second, we describe a measurement device that implements an adaptive cubic-phase gate, up to a random phase-space displacement.
