As a part of public transportation, taxi plays a very important role of passengers' travel from the airport to downtown. In order to exploring an efficient taxi dispatch mechanism and saving passenger waiting times, we develop an adaptive airport taxi dispatch system based on principal components analysis wavelet neural network (PCA-WNN). A series of new online short term time forecasting techniques are used to capture the relationship between taxi supply and demand. Then we proposed an adaptive feedback-based taxi dispatch algorithm for the effective response to the non-stationarity of taxi service under a changing environment. By using the real data of Beijing Capital International Airport within twenty weeks, our experiment demonstrated that this algorithm can predict accurately of the taxi service data and greatly improve the efficiency of taxi management.

In this paper a general architecture of tightly-coupled integrated LR-WPAN/WiMAX network has been introduced by proposing and utilising a novel access router named Wireless Integrated Access Router (WIAR). The suggested access router effectively combines both WiMAX and LR-WPAN technologies in a same device. The main motivation to propose this integration is to deploy Internet of Things (IoT) applications and services in wide area networks. Using WiMAX as backhaul service, the Internet connection can be provided for dispersed mobile LR-WPAN users over a wide area. Moreover, it enables to access all collected data in the local LR-WPAN coverage area – which is named as Senspot in this paper – by third-party clients through the Internet. Furthermore, an analytic model has been developed for the integrated network to evaluate the system's performance. Theoretical results on blocking probability of new and handover calls from WiMAX subscribers, as well as new connections from LR-WPAN Senspots in a cell of WiMAX have been investigated in terms of call/connection rates and number of allocated channels.

Sucrose content is the most important quality parameter in the production and processing of sugar beet. This paper reports on the application of visible/near-infrared (Vis-NIR) spectroscopy for measurement of the sucrose content of sugar beet. Two portable spectrometers, covering the spectral regions of 400-1,100 nm and 900-1,600 nm, respectively, were used to acquire spectra in interactance mode from both intact beets and beet slices. The sucrose content of beets was measured using high performance liquid chromatography (HPLC). Calibration models for each spectrometer were developed using partial least squares (PLS) to predict the sucrose content of beets. For the spectrometer covering the visible and shortwave near-infrared (Vis-SWNIR) region of 400-1,100 nm, the correlations (Rp) were 0.81 and 0.86, and the standard error of prediction (SEP) were 0.91 and 0.78, for the intact beets and beet slices, respectively. For the NIR spectrometer with the spectral region of 900-1,600 nm, Rp = 0.72 and 0.88 and SEP =1.02 and 0.69 for the intact beets and beet slices, respectively. These results showed that the portable spectrometers operated in interactance mode can be used to predict sucrose content for beet slices. This research also identified several important wavelengths that had relatively strong correlation with the sucrose content, for both Vis-SWNIR and NIR measurement, indicating the possibility of using selected wavelengths or bands for predicting the sucrose content of beets.

In phased array at subarray level with monopulse technology, generally, analog weighting at element level are adopted for sidelobe suppression of patterns, while digital weighting at subarray level for adaptive processing. This paper studies the sidelobe suppression method for sum and difference beam by using only subarray level weighting instead of analog weighting, which is most of interest for the reduction of hardware cost and complexity. A new approach is presented, which adopts genetic algorithm (GA) to optimize weights vector at subarray level for sum and difference beam, and the encoding scheme, constitution of fitness function, and realization of genetic optimization are also given. Simulation results demonstrate that the proposed method can suppress sidelobe of patterns effectively, especially for sum beam. © 2012 IEEE.

Adaptive digital beamforming(ADBF) at subarray level is one of crucial techniques for phased array radar. Generalized sidelobe canceller(GSLC) at subarray level is an effective solution in the presence of array imperfections such as amplitude and phase errors, while the key lies in appropriate blocking matrix(BM) to block desired signal and adaptive weights for suppressing jammers. While at subarray level, using conventional BM will degrade the performance of beam such as that notch deviates for phase errors and signal-to-interference- plus-noise ratio(SINR) loses. This paper presents an implementation for GSLC configuration at subarray level by utilizing Householder transformation to determine BM. Simulation results demonstrate that the proposed method can raise SINR obviously and is insensitive to channel errors even if to phase ones. © 2012 IEEE.

In this paper, we combine navigation function-like potential fields and constraint based programming to achieve obstacle avoidance in formation. Constraint based programming was developed in robotic manipulation as a technique to take several constraints into account when controlling redundant manipulators. The approach has also been generalized, and applied to other control systems such as dual arm manipulators and unmanned aerial vehicles. Navigation functions are an elegant way to design controllers with provable properties for navigation problems. By combining these tools, we take advantage of the redundancy inherent in a multi-agent control problem and are able to concurrently address features such as formation maintenance and goal convergence, even in the presence of moving obstacles. We show how the user can decide a priority ordering of the objectives, as well as a clear way of seeing what objectives are currently addressed and what are postponed. We also analyze the theoretical properties of the proposed controller. Finally, we use a set of simulations to illustrate the approach.

Universal FRFT-based algorithm for parameter estimation of chirp signals

The realization of the parameter estimation of chirp signals using the fractional Fourier transform （FRFT） is based on the assumption that the sampling duration of practical observed signals would be equal to the time duration of chirp signals contained in the former. However, in many actual circumstances, this assumption seems unreasonable. On the basis of analyzing the practical signal form, this paper derives the estimation error of the existing parameter estimation method and then proposes a novel and universal parameter estimation algorithm. Furthermore, the proposed algorithm is developed which allows the estimation of the practical observed Gaussian windowed chirp signal. Simulation results show that the new algorithm works well.
