Quantum detector tomography (QDT) is a fundamental technique for calibrating quantum devices and performing quantum engineering tasks. In this paper, we utilize regularization to improve the QDT accuracy whenever the probe states are informationally complete or informationally incomplete. In the informationally complete scenario, without regularization, we optimize the resource (probe state) distribution by converting it to a semidefinite programming problem. Then in both the informationally complete and informationally incomplete scenarios, we discuss different regularization forms and prove the mean squared error scales as O(1/N) or tends to a constant with N state copies under the static assumption. We also characterize the ideal best regularization for the identifiable parameters, accounting for both the informationally complete and informationally incomplete scenarios. Numerical examples demonstrate the effectiveness of different regularization forms and a quantum optical experiment test shows that a suitable regularization form can reach a reduced mean squared error. In a social environment, there is a natural mutual force between people. This paper proposes a method for detecting group abnormal behavior based on the potential field method. The movement of a pedestrian is described as the movement towards the target under the combined action of several forces. Forces on pedestrians include the attractive force for themselves and the repulsive force between pedestrians. By calculating the resultant force between them, the behavior of pedestrians is judged according to a set threshold. It is verified through experiments on public data sets that our method has high accuracy and robustness.

In this paper, we propose a passive Multiple Input Multiple Output (MIMO) radar multi-target positioning method based on DBSCAN (Density-Based Spatial Clustering of Applications with Noise). MIMO radar has received extensive attention and researches since it has been introduced. Applying MIMO radar theory to passive radar technology can combine the advantages of the two technologies and get better detection performance. In this paper, the multi-target data association algorithm is mainly used, and the time delay information measured by multiple receiving stations is converted into distance information and associated with the cost matrix. First, data preprocessing is performed by eliminating data in the cost matrix which is greater than the threshold. Then DBSCAN clustering algorithm is used to divide the data into clusters. Finally, different clusters are weighted and fused to obtain multi-target position estimates. Simulation results prove that the algorithm performs well. © 2020 ACM.

As a physical layer security technology, directional modulation (DM) can be combined with intelligent reflect-ing surface (IRS) to improve the security of drone communications. In this paper, a directional modulation scheme assisted by the IRS is proposed to maximize the transmission rate of unmanned aerial vehicle (UAV) secure communication. Specifically, with the assistance of the IRS, the UAV transmits legitimate information and main-tains its constellation pattern at the location of legitimate users on the ground, while the constellation pattern is disrupted at the eavesdropper’s location. In order to solve the joint optimization problem of digital weight coefficients, UAV position, and IRS discrete phase shift, firstly, the digital weight vector and UAV position are optimized through power minimization. Secondly, three methods are proposed to optimize IRS phase shift, namely vector trajectory (VT) method, cross entropy vector trajectory (CE-VT) algorithm, and block coordinate descent vector trajectory (BCD-VT) algorithm. Compared to traditional cross entropy (CE) methods and block coordinate descent (BCD) methods, the proposed CE-VT and BCD-VT algorithms can improve transmission rate performance. The numerical results validate the effectiveness of the optimization scheme in IRS assisted UAV communication. © 2017 IEEE.

Electrocardiography (ECG) is a mandatory standard for monitoring electrical activity of the heart in many clinical settings such as intensive care and emergency units. However, in situations wherein the skin is damaged, such as acute burn injuries, it is impossible to efficiently attach electrodes to the skin. In this study, we developed a non-contact cardiac monitoring system using a 24-GHz medical radar for directly measuring the beat-to-beat heart mechanical activity at a distance from a subject. The heart rate variability (HRV) was analysed using an autoregressive model (AR) from the measured beat-to-beat intervals during a head-up tilt test. To investigate the feasibility of the proposed system, we compared medical radar and ECG recording by using Lin’s correlation coefficient and Bland–Altman analysis, which showed a negligible mean difference from the substantial agreement of Lin’s correlation coefficient of 0.9 between the radar and ECG. The non-contact radar clearly monitored dynamic changes in HRV indices induced by the head-up tilt test. This type of non-contact HRV-sensing technique as an alternative approach has significant potential for advancing personal healthcare in both clinical and out-of-hospital settings. © 2019, © 2019 Informa UK Limited, trading as Taylor & Francis Group.

News recommender system is an important method of helping readers identify interesting stories. Although human behaviors exhibit sequential patterns, most current studies on news recommendations ignore the influence of reading sequences. Leveraging sequential patterns in news recommendation is, however, very challenging, as the capture of reading behavior sequence at the individual level may be impossible due to severity of sparsity in the field of news. To address this challenge, we proposed a group-sequence-aware graph model (GSGM) to learn representative reading sequences of groups instead of individuals, where groups are viewed as latent variables and automatically learnt from users' reading behaviours. Besides, when readers select different groups, they are likely to have distinct reading preferences. This finding is used to learn group-dependent personal reading preferences in GSGM. A wide range of experiments are conducted to verify the efficiency and effectiveness of the GSGM on real datasets. Experimental results demonstrate that GSGM outperforms the state-of-the-art competing methods. © 2024, The Authors. All rights reserved.

MDD-Enabled Two-Tier Terahertz Fronthaul in Indoor Industrial Cell-Free Massive MIMO

To make indoor industrial cell-free massive multiple-input multiple-output (CF-mMIMO) networks free from wired fronthaul, this paper studies a multicarrier-division duplex (MDD)enabled two-tier terahertz (THz) fronthaul scheme. More specifically, two layers of fronthaul links rely on the mutually orthogonal subcarreir sets in the same THz band, while access links are implemented over sub-6G band. The proposed scheme leads to a complicated mixed-integer nonconvex optimization problem incorporating access point (AP) clustering, device selection, the assignment of subcarrier sets between two fronthaul links and the resource allocation at both the central processing unit (CPU) and APs. In order to address the formulated problem, we first resort to the low-complexity but efficient heuristic methods thereby relaxing the binary variables. Then, the overall end-to-end rate is obtained by iteratively optimizing the assignment of subcarrier sets and the number of AP clusters. Furthermore, an advanced MDD frame structure consisting of three parallel data streams is tailored for the proposed scheme. Simulation results demonstrate the effectiveness of the proposed dynamic AP clustering approach in dealing with the varying sizes of networks. Moreover, benefiting from the well-designed frame structure, MDD is capable of outperforming TDD in the two-tier fronthaul networks. Additionally, the effect of the THz bandwidth on system performance is analyzed, and it is shown that with sufficient frequency resources, our proposed two-tier fully-wireless fronthaul scheme can achieve a comparable performance to the fiber-optic based systems. Finally, the superiority of the proposed MDD-enabled fronthaul scheme is verified in a practical scenario with realistic ray-tracing simulations. © 2023, CC BY.

By combining angle-resolved photoemission spectroscopy, scanning tunneling microscopy, atomic force microscope based piezoresponse force microscopy and first-principles calculations, we have studied the low-energy band structure, atomic structure, and charge polarization on the surface of a topological semimetal candidate TaNiTe5. Dirac-like surface states were observed on the (010) surface by angle-resolved photoemission spectroscopy, consistent with the first-principles calculations. On the other hand, piezoresponse force microscopy reveals a switchable ferroelectriclike polarization on the same surface. We propose that the noncentrosymmetric surface relaxation observed by scanning tunneling microscopy could be the origin of the observed ferroelectriclike state in this novel material. Our findings provide a new platform with the coexistence of a ferroelectriclike surface charge distribution and novel surface states.

Computation simulation and experiment investigations of stable co-doping perovskite solar cells with TiO2/SnO2 bilayer and CuSCN structures

The charge transport layers play a momentous role in facilitating the extraction and injection of carriers in perovskite solar cells (PSCs). Unfortunately, the performance of PSCs fabricated with conventional charge transport materials exhibits significant hysteresis and instability. Here we utilise the composite TiO₂/SnO₂ with superior electron mobility and stability and the low-cost CuSCN as bilayer electron transport layer (ETL) and hole transport layer (HTL) materials, respectively. The PSCs with the p-n-n (p-type FAxMA1-xPbIxBryCl3-x-y (FA=CH(NH2)2), MA=CH3NH3)-n-type SnO2-n-type TiO2) construction of FTO/TiO2/SnO2/FAxMA1-xPbIxBryCl3-x-y/CuSCN/C/FTO have been investigated via the computation simulation and experiment. It has been observed that the PSCs performance of p-n-n structure surpasses that of n-n-p (n-type SnO2-n-type TiO2-p-type FAxMA1-xPbIxBryCl3-x-y) structure, benefiting from the existence of the bilayer ETL with p-n-n structure, which improves the collection ability, and the lifetime and mobility of photogenerated carriers. The perovskite thin film can be uniformly covered by the CuSCN HTL with 25 μL CuSCN drop-coating solution, which effectively reducing the hysteresis of the device under the atmosphere conditions during the experiment. Furthermore, we further demonstrate that the thickness of functional layers, conduction band offset, doping concentration, and operating temperature play crucial roles in determining the photophysical and photoelectric properties of PSCs. The simulation results imply that the PSCs we designed and optimized not only have high power conversion efficiency (PCE) (17.7619 %) at 295 K but also maintain ascendant stability. This work shall provide up an effective strategy for the realization of high efficiency and long-term stable carbon-based PSCs. © 2025 Elsevier B.V.
