In the paper, a novel stereo video codec algorithm based on fast disparity and motion estimation is proposed. Firstly, this paper makes some changes to the conventional fractal video coding method. We use tree structured partition method to partition the encoding frames. Besides, domain block searching strategy and range is used in the coding processing. Based on the feature of video motion and structure of stereo video, a fast disparity and motion estimation algorithm is used to stereo video coding. Compared with the traditional fractal stereo video coding, experimental results indicate that the proposed algorithm spends much less encoding time and achieves almost the same compression ratio and compression quality. At the same time, computing complexity is much smaller. © 2011 IEEE.

Progress in low power Very Large Scale Integration (VLSI) design open up possibilities of powering wireless devises from scavenged ambient energy. An energy management system should be designed to manage the harvested energy. DC to DC converters represent the key element in energy management systems. Knowing the diversity of DC-DC converters generally designed for specific applications, basic converters are under scope in this paper. Operation principles and simulation patterns of basic DC to DC converters are first presented. Parameter simulation occurring the effect of duty cycle, inductance, capacity and switch polarisation is studied in depth. The gaol of this paper is to show main parameters effect on output voltage behaviour. Simulation results show that the main parameters in DC-DC converters design play a key role to avoid extra-lose of harvested energy.

The aim of the paper is to assess the feasibility of impedance measurements for meat aging detection. The carried investigations are dedicated to the aging of the meat of beef. An investigation was carried out for the detection of the age of meat using 2 cases of storage in the fridge, unpacked meat, exposed in the air of the fridge (Up) and vacuum-packed meat, conserved in closed box (Vp). The measurements show a depressed semicircle in the admittance plane similar to the equivalent circuit consisting of a combination of a Constant Phase Element (CPE) and two resistors. The resistance R E various is directly proportional to meat volume resistivity. The volume resistivity is constant for Vp meat, this is due to the conservation of the same situation in the surface of contact with the electrode, this situation change for the Up meat, the volume resistivity is increasing in a linear way because the surface of contact with electrode become more dry over time. The change due to R ct is inversely proportional to the factor number of electrons involved and exchange current. The factor n.i 0 decreases over time for the Up meat, This is consistent because when the meat becomes drier, the loss of liquids causes the decrease of conductivity and proportionally the decrease of the number of electrons involved and the exchange current. For the second case (Vp), the humidity causes the decrease of the number of electrons involved and the exchange current. The impedance is inversely proportional to the double layer capacitance that is consistent with the experiments. The impedance increase for the Up meat and decrease in the second case. The change due to Cdl is directly proportional to the change of meat permittivity ε r .

Orthogonal Frequency Division Multiplexing (OFDM) systems may suffer from both carrier frequency offset (CFO) and in-phase/quadrature-phase (I/Q) imbalance at the receiver front end. In this paper, a novel type of intercarrier interference (ICI) self-cancellation method using mirror mapping is proposed to combat these impairment. Based on the proposed novel method and by adopting two widely used mapping operations, we altogether derive two different mirror mapping schemes. Analysis and simulation results verify that the proposed mirror mapping schemes not only inherit the efficiency of the existing self-cancellation schemes in suppressing ICI caused by CFO but also have the ability of compressing or even eliminating IQ imbalance. © 2011 IEEE.

We have proposed a practical power assist robotic cart, which we call 'Robotic Follower', to support daily lives of the patients undergoing Home Oxygen Therapy (HOT). And to achieve the purpose, we have developed several types of Robotic Follower. In this paper, we describe our newly developed Robotic Follower with which the inverted pendulum control technology is applied to control Robotic Follower, and then we investigate its effectiveness and prove its availability.

Components of power systems are essentially a special class of nonlinear differential-algebraic equations subsystems, whose index is one and interconnection is local measurable. In this paper, the invertibility of power systems components is discussed. Firstly, the definition of invertibility is presented. Secondly, a recursive algorithm is proposed to judge whether the controlled components are invertable. Then a physically feasible right inverse controller is constructed with which the controlled components are made linearization and decoupled. Finally, an excitation controller is designed for one synchronous generator within multi-machine power systems based on the proposed method in this paper.

In this paper, an advanced PSO has been proposed to solve multi-modal functions optimization. Multiple swarms are used to optimize parallel search and artificial repulsive potential field on local points are set up to prevent multiple swarm converging to the same place and repeatedly search. In addition, this paper provides a theoretical basis for the strategy of multi-swarm parallel search used in the advanced algorithm. Finally, the method is tested on some benchmark functions and the results show a superior performance compared to the others PSO variant.

In order to solve the problem that the coverage area of ZigBee tree network is restricted by the depth, so that new nodes can not join the network and become a orphan, this paper introduces a project of expanding network coverage area. In this project, through the manual of the button, we can choose a qualified end device to convert to the router configuration, then the device as a router receives new nodes to join the network, The requirement would be realized by improving and innovating ZigBee protocol stack. The project works well in the experiment, it saves the device energy and expands the scope of network.

This paper is concerned with the problem of Hα filtering for a class of discrete-time linear parameter-varying (LPV) systems with Markovian switching under data missing and quantization. A stochastic variable is used to describe the model of the data missing phenomenon. Then a H α filter is designed to guarantee the filtering error dynamics is stochastically stable with Hα performance. The existence of the desired Hα filter is ensured by some sufficient conditions expressed in terms of parameterized linear matrix inequalities (PLMIs).
