Heart rate (HR) monitoring is crucial for assessing physical fitness, cardiovascular health, and stress management. Millimeter-wave radar offers a promising non-contact solution for long-term monitoring. However, accurate HR estimation remains challenging in low signal-to-noise ratio (SNR) conditions. To deal with both respiration harmonics and intermodulation interference, this paper proposes a cancellation-before-estimation strategy. Firstly, we present the adaptive extensive cancellation algorithm (ECA) to suppress respiratory and its low-order harmonics. Then, we propose an adaptive harmonic enhanced trace (AHET) method to avoid intermodulation interference by refining the HR search region. Various experimental results validate the effectiveness of the proposed methods, demonstrating improvements in accuracy, robustness, and computational efficiency compared to conventional approaches based on the FMCW (Frequency Modulated Continuous Wave) system. © 2025, CC BY-NC-ND.

Electric vehicles as controllable loads connected to the grid can improve the utilization of wind and PV and thus reduce the amount of renewable energy curtailment, but if they are not regulated, they can cause harm to the operation of the grid. This article adopts an algorithm called cuckoo search which has global convergence is used to perform a two-stage optimization of the system load. In the first stage, the amount of wind and solar power curtailment is optimized, and it is obvious that the amount of new energy consumption increases from 5423kW to 5842kW, but the power consumption in peak hours increases significantly, forming a phenomenon of "peaking on peak". Compared with the first stage, the peak load curve is smoothed out during the second stage and the valley load curve is filled, and the difference between the highest and lowest value of the electricity load is reduced from 254 kW to 198 kW. The results show that this optimization method not only increases the amount of new energy consumption, but also stabilizes the load fluctuations in order to mitigate the impact of large-scale electric vehicle charging on the electric grid. © 2022 IEEE.

An Effective Hybrid Genetic Algorithm for the Multi-Robot Task Allocation Problem with Limited Span

Multi-robot task allocation is one of the most interesting multi-robot systems that have gained considerable attention due to various real-world applications. In this paper, we focus on a multi-robot task allocation problem where a set of industrial robots, which are installed on a gantry and have a limited working span, have to jointly perform a set of weld lines in large size. We present a mathematical model that captures the objective of minimizing the cycle time, i.e., the time required to complete a given set of weld lines. Due to the inherent difficulty of the problem, we propose an effective hybrid genetic algorithm to solve it. Because the robots are associated with a limited working span, the algorithm integrates a specific region division algorithm to divide the workpieces into a set of regions where the robots can reach all the weld lines in each region. It also incorporates a dedicated route-based crossover to generate promising offspring solutions and an effective neighborhoodbased local search procedure to improve each offspring solution as much as possible. Extensive experimental results on three benchmark instances show that the algorithm significantly outperforms reference methods. Additional experiments on real-world instances are presented to verify the algorithm’s effectiveness in solving the multi-robot task allocation problem with limited span. © 2024, The Authors. In unstructured environments, ensuring the safe operation of autonomous vehicles necessitates precise perception and thorough analysis of the surrounding terrain. Existing traversability analysis methods frequently rely on data from a single sensor and fail to integrate vehicle characteristics with environmental geometric features. This limitation results in weak environmental perception and poor performance in traversability analysis. To address these challenges, this paper proposes an innovative approach. By fusing data from multiple LiDAR sensors, the method constructs a locally dense traversability map, significantly enhancing the completeness and reliability of terrain ***, this approach combines vehicle characteristics with multiple environmental geometric factors to generate a traversability layer. This integration leads to a more holistic understanding of the terrain, improving the vehicle's ability to navigate complex environments safely. The proposed method demonstrates outstanding performance in traversability estimation, enabling a more accurate evaluation of traversability. This, in turn, provides a solid guarantee for the safe driving of autonomous vehicles in various challenging *** system underwent rigorous testing in unstructured environments to validate its effectiveness. The test results indicate that the elevation maps and traversability layer generated by this method exhibit significant improvements in both detail and accuracy. These advancements ensure that autonomous vehicles can better perceive and navigate their surroundings, ultimately contributing to safer and more reliable autonomous driving in unstructured and complex terrains.

A wavelet neural network (WNN) prediction model based on improved wolf pack algorithm(WPA) is proposed to meet the demand of Shanxi's spot market, which requires power sales companies to "quote quantity but not offer price". Customers are classified by considering the differences in electricity consumption characteristics of different industries. The bidirectional comparison method is used to preprocess the original data, which can effectively reduce the errors in the process of data measurement and acquisition. Using WNN to forecast the customer's day-ahead electrical load. Meantime, the intelligent algorithm is used to optimize the network parameters and strengthen the prediction performance of the WNN. The wolf pack algorithm is used to optimize the system, and the walking mode of the wolf pack is improved, which further to improve the optimization ability of the system. An example shows that the model is more accurate in short-term load prediction. Compared with before the improvement, the prediction accuracy has been improved by nearly 2%, and the accuracy has reached 96.4%, which can provide a strong guarantee of the electricity sales company to master the customer load curve, participate in the spot market, and improve its competitiveness. © 2022 IEEE.

The advancement of millimeter-wave communication technology heralds new sensing capabilities. By leveraging channel multipath parameter estimates, we can harness simultaneous localization and mapping (SLAM) for precise user equipment (UE) localization and radio map construction in 6 G communication systems. Particularly in multi-UE scenarios, SLAM empowers base stations to amalgamate the local radio maps of various UEs efficiently. This study introduces a novel Bayesian framework specifically designed for multi-UE SLAM, complemented by a tailored factor graph. We also unveil a two-stage multi-UE SLAM algorithm. Our simulation results reveal that this algorithm substantially enhances radio map construction accuracy by 4 8. 5 % and UE localization accuracy by 13.5 %, outperforming single-UE cases. Moreover, the algorithm demonstrates remarkable adaptability to environmental changes, showcasing its potential for long-term evolution in dynamic settings. © 2024 IEEE.

Local Structural Health Monitoring System in Aircraft Based on Fiber Bragg Grating Array

In this study, a structural health monitoring system for aircraft wings based on a fiber-optic grating sensing network was designed, and a three-dimensional position correction algorithm based on fiber Bragg grating (FBG) array test data was developed. Solving the deformation parameters using mathematical models of strain-position offset introduces errors, leading to inaccurate measurements and affecting the preciseness of three-dimensional-reconstructed surfaces. Two fitting algorithms (bitone and spline with linear interpolations) are proposed to improve this method in analyzing errors at the measured points of the wing structure. The relative error of each measurement point of the reconstructed wing structure using the bitone and spline interpolation methods was lower than 4.96%. Furthermore, the absolute error was within 0.014 mm, the average relative error was lower than 3.47%, and the root-mean-square error was lower than 0.01 mm. Compared to the linear interpolation, the average relative error decreased by up to 5.84%. The experimental results show that the measurement accuracy of bitone and spline interpolation was significantly higher than that of linear interpolation. FBG array measurements using bitone and spline interpolations for the local structural health monitoring system of aircraft improve the fitting reconstruction effect for the wing structure and stabilize the compensation effect. © 2024, The Authors. In the distributed secondary control of DC microgrids, achieving both rapid convergence and robust information security is critical for enhancing control performance and maintaining power quality. However, current privacy-preserving approaches often compromise either control performance or privacy preservation performance. To address this challenge, this paper presents a node-decomposition privacy-preserving (NDPP) method for fully distributed, finite-time secondary control in DC microgrids. By splitting each node in the communication graph into multiple sub-nodes, the method enhances both convergence speed and privacy preservation without sacrificing control accuracy. Sub-nodes communicate within groups, and the topology of the generated graph is concealed from malicious nodes and eavesdroppers. Theoretical analysis is provided to prove finite-time voltage regulation and current sharing with privacy preservation against malicious nodes and external eavesdroppers. Simulations are conducted to verify the effectiveness of the method in maintaining control performance and power quality. © 2010-2012 IEEE.

The Meta Distribution of SINR in UAV-Assisted Cellular Networks

Mounting compact and lightweight base stations on unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs) is a cost-effective and flexible solution to provide seamless coverage on the existing terrestrial networks. While the coverage probability in UAV-assisted cellular networks has been widely investigated, it provides only the first-order statistic of signal-to-interference-plus-noise ratio (SINR). In this paper, to analyze high-order statistics of SINR and characterize the disparity among individual links, we provide a meta distribution (MD)-based analytical framework for UAV-assisted cellular networks, in which the probabilistic line-of-sight channel and realistic antenna pattern are taken into account for air-to-ground transmissions. To accurately characterize the interference from UAVs, we relax the widely applied uniform off-boresight angle (OBA) assumption and derive the exact distribution of OBA. Using stochastic geometry, for both steerable and vertical antenna scenarios, we obtain mathematical expressions for the moments of condition success probability, the SINR MD, and the mean local delay. Moreover, we study the asymptotic behavior of the moments as network density approaches infinity. Numerical results validate the tightness of the theoretical results and show that the uniform OBA assumption underestimates the network performance, especially in the regime of moderate altitude of UAV. We also show that when UAVs are equipped with steerable antennas, the network coverage and user fairness can be optimized simultaneously by carefully adjusting the UAV parameters. This research considers the combined effects of changes in fluid properties and shell heat transfer. The realizable k-epsilon turbulence model combined with the enhanced wall function is used to numerically simulate the flow and heat transfer characteristics of a new plate-shell heat exchanger plate side, which was verified to be accurate in combination with previous research results. Focus was placed on the analysis concerning the flow heat transfer characteristics for different corrugation depths at different inlet velocities. It was found that increasing the corrugation depth can make the fluid distribution tends to be uniform heat transfer performance increases, but the increase in velocity will have the opposite effect on the heat transfer performance. Furthermore, field synergy theory reveals the synergistic distribution regularities of the velocity field with the temperature field and pressure field. Consecutive vortex structures are formed along the grooves, and the flow in the core region of the corrugated channels is similar to the heat flow, reducing the synergistic ability among the three fields makes the heat transfer less effective. These findings contribute to understanding heat transfer in similar scenarios, especially in energy engineering and thermal management. © 2023, The Authors. All rights reserved.
