In this paper, we find that existing online forecasting methods have the following issues: 1) They do not consider the update frequency of streaming data and directly use labels (future signals) to update the model, leading to information leakage. 2) Eliminating information leakage can exacerbate concept drift and online parameter updates can damage prediction accuracy. 3) Leaving out a validation set cuts off the model’s continued learning. 4) Existing GPU devices cannot support online learning of large-scale streaming data. To address the above issues, we propose a novel online learning framework, Act-Now, to improve the online prediction on large-scale streaming data. Firstly, we introduce a Random Subgraph Sampling (RSS) algorithm designed to enable efficient model training. Then, we design a Fast Stream Buffer (FSB) and a Slow Stream Buffer (SSB) to update the model online. FSB updates the model immediately with the consistent pseudo- and partial labels to avoid information leakage. SSB updates the model in parallel using complete labels from earlier times. Further, to address concept drift, we propose a Label Decomposition model (Lade) with statistical and normalization flows. Lade forecasts both the statistical variations and the normalized future values of the data, integrating them through a combiner to produce the final predictions. Finally, we propose to perform online updates on the validation set to ensure the consistency of model learning on streaming data. Extensive experiments demonstrate that the proposed Act-Now framework performs well on large-scale streaming data, with an average 28.4% and 19.5% performance improvement, respectively. The active simultaneously transmitting and reflecting surface (STARS) has been proposed as a complement of passive STARS (PSTARS) to inhibit the double path-loss. This paper applies the active STARS (ASTARS) to aid in non-orthogonal multiple access (NOMA) covert communications over cascaded rice fading channels, where two wardens are located on the opposite sides of ASTARS to monitor the transmission information. More specifically, we derive approximate expressions for detection error probability of two wardens. The optimal detection threshold and minimum detection error probability are presented in the worst covert scenarios. The covert transmission rate expressions for a coupe of covert users are further deduced by taking into account imperfect/perfect successive interference cancellation. The experimental simulation results are presented to confirm that: 1) The detection error probability of ASTARS-NOMA networks is superior to that of ASTARS assisted-orthogonal multiple access (ASTARS-OMA) and PSTARS aided NOMA networks;2) As the number of active elements increases, the covert transmission rates of ASTARS-NOMA networks become larger relative to ASTARS-OMA;and 3) ASTARS-NOMA has ability to provide the enhanced system throughput in delay-tolerant transmission mode. © 2025 IEEE.

Interpretable DRL-based Maneuver Decision of UCAV Dogfight

This paper proposes a three-layer unmanned combat aerial vehicle (UCAV) dogfight frame where Deep reinforcement learning (DRL) is responsible for high-level maneuver decision. A four-channel low-level control law is firstly constructed, followed by a library containing eight basic flight maneuvers (BFMs). Double deep Q network (DDQN) is applied for BFM selection in UCAV dogfight, where the opponent strategy during the training process is constructed with DT. Our simulation result shows that, the agent can achieve a win rate of 85.75% against the DT strategy, and positive results when facing various unseen opponents. Based on the proposed frame, interpretability of the DRL-based dogfight is significantly improved. The agent performs yo-yo to adjust its turn rate and gain higher maneuverability. Emergence of"Dive and Chase" behavior also indicates the agent can generate a novel tactic that utilizes the drawback of its opponent. © 2024, CC0.

Multi-target Tracking (MTT) is the process of processing received measurements to maintain estimates of the current status of multiple targets, with important applications to autonomous driving, aerial reconnaissance, underwater operations, and others. In the model-based setting, Bayesian filtering can provide the theoretical optimal estimate in a single target scenario. However, in complex situations, uncertain factors such as changes in the number of targets will cause the amount of calculation to increase exponentially, resulting in a decline in tracking accuracy. To solve that problem, model-free methods based on deep-learning provide an attractive alternative, especially the state-of-the-art architecture Transformer based encoder-decoder prediction model, which outperforms the Bayesian filters in the single frame prediction tasks. However, when switching to continuous tracking, these algorithms need to be trained separately frame by frame to adapt to the new tasks. Still, there is no correlation between their predictions from different frames, which prevents them from fully utilizing all the measurements. In this paper, we propose an end-to-end Transformer based MTT method with state autoregression, which allows the model to have the capability of online continuous tracking and make total use of the entire trajectory. The results show that the proposed model is a great extension from single-frame prediction to online continuous tracking.

For the massive users in post-disaster scenario, unmanned aerial vehicle (UAV) can rapidly establish emergency communications, and orbital angular momentum (OAM) can significantly improve spectrum efficiency (SE). Due to hollow divergence and alignment requirement, it is hard for users to receive OAM signals by using antenna-limited devices. For UAV emergency communications with line-of-sight link, we propose the user cooperative receiving (UCR) scheme, which can realize 2 OAM mode multiplexing communications for users at long distance. Two cooperative users (CUs) are chosen, and the waist radius is adjusted to guarantee the maximum intensity at two CUs. The OAM beam steering is designed to eliminate the inter-mode interference of misaligned OAM signals caused by the antenna misalignment. Simulation results demonstrate that the proposed UCR scheme can obtain higher SE than the traditional scheme due to the effective reception of misaligned OAM signals for UAV emergency communications.

A color image encryption scheme is proposed, which employs the interferenceless coded aperture correlation holography (I-COACH) system in conjunction with polarization encoding. This method encrypts all three channels of an RGB image into a single ciphertext, effectively reducing the correlation between channels and improving the efficiency of encryption. By leveraging the inherent advantages of the I-COACH system, particularly its high-dimensional signal processing capabilities and incorporation of polarization information, this innovative approach simplifies the encryption process while demonstrating superior performance in terms of encryption feasibility, security, and robustness. Ultimately, it provides an efficient and highly secure means for transmitting color images. © 2024, The Authors. All rights reserved.

Research on Methodology for Digital Twin Construction of Powertrain Systems Under Time-Varying Conditions

The dynamic characteristic investigation of powertrain system under time-varying conditions is highly relied on the dynamic torque signals of each component. However, methods that are sufficiently stable and efficient for obtaining these torque signals have not yet been realized. Thus, a five-dimensional digital twin system, including mechanism, behavior, geometric, statistical, and self-learning models, is established as a virtual mapping of physical system. These models are used to define solution methods, quantify characteristics, visualize displays, statistical analysis, and predict states, respectively. Then, a digital twin monitoring platform is established based on the virtual-real mapping, which can visualize dynamic characteristics of each component based on MQTT protocol. Moreover, the twin signals are verified from the perspectives of dynamics and kinematics through bench and real vehicle experiments, where the relative errors are less than 10%. In addition to the dynamic speed-torque signals of each component, twin signals also include jerk and sliding friction work used to evaluate the shifting quality. Through specific examples, it is demonstrated that the operating state for powertrain system can be monitored and evaluated based on all these twin signals, thus providing sufficient data support for further decision-making and feedback. © 2024, The Authors. Improved U2Net-Based Ground Cloud Image Segmentation Techniques

Clouds play a crucial role in the atmospheric dynamics of the Earth, and precise segmentation of ground-based cloud images is essential for improving the accuracy of weather forecasting. In response to issues such as varying data quality, low data volume, and different capture angles in existing open-source cloud image datasets, a labeled standard ground-based cloud image dataset (Cloud-GT) was constructed using manual annotation and transfer learning methods. The color channel component threshold segmentation method was employed to eliminate sunlight interference. Furthermore, an improved U2Net-based ground-based cloud image segmentation technique was proposed. The model introduced channel attention modules and depth-wise separable convolution modules in the feature extraction unit, which greatly reduces the network model parameters while improving the effective feature extraction of ground-based cloud maps within the network. Finally, comparing and analyzing the method with classical segmentation networks, experimental results indicated that the method achieved classification pixel accuracy, mean class pixel accuracy, average intersection over union, intersection over union, and F1 score of 84. 03%, 90. 88%, 84. 13%, 74. 12%, and 89. 59%, respectively. In comparison with U2Net, UNet, and FCN, the method demonstrated a significant improvement in performance. In conclusion, the method not only substantially reduced the model parameters but also effectively enhanced segmentation accuracy, which provides the possibility of practical application. © 2025 Beijing Kexue Jishu yu Gongcheng Zazhishe. This study presents a novel microwave humidity sensor that utilizes a complementary interdigital capacitor resonator (CIDCR), an advanced design derived from the traditional complementary split ring resonator (CSRR) structure. The CIDCR design enhances the sensor's performance by concentrating the electric field in a more compact region, leading to improved sensitivity and miniaturization. The sensor is coated with a composite film of chitosan (CS) and polyacrylamide-glycerol (PAMG), combining the high moisture sensitivity of PAMG with the stability of CS. The CIDCR-based sensor demonstrates superior performance, including high sensitivity, a broad detection range, rapid response/recovery times, and excellent long-term stability. Density functional theory (DFT) calculations further elucidate the moisture-sensitive mechanisms at the molecular level, highlighting the role of hydrogen bonding in the composite film. Application tests confirm the sensor's potential for use in respiratory monitoring, non-contact sensing, and health monitoring, showcasing the advantages of the CIDCR structure in achieving enhanced humidity sensing capabilities. © 2024, The Authors.
