A Deep Reinforcement Learning-Based Multi-Objective Charging Scheduling Method for Electric Vehicle Charging Station

This paper investigates the charging scheduling problem within an Electric Vehicle Charging Station (EVCS), aiming to coordinate multiple charging piles to optimize the charging process. The objectives are to increase the profit for the Charging Station Operator (CSO) and enhance user satisfaction while mitigating significant fluctuations in grid load. However, since these objectives originate from different stakeholders, they are inherently conflicting;a strategy trained using fixed objective weights cannot satisfy all of them simultaneously. Additionally, uncertainties such as vehicle arrival and departure times, power requirements, and grid tariffs complicate the modeling of this process. To address these challenges, this paper reformulates the scheduling process as a Markov Decision Process (MDP) and proposes a novel model-free reinforcement learning method. By integrating randomly varying objective preferences into the inputs of agents, a set of policies corresponding to different objective preferences can be learned through a single training session. As a result, agents can execute various policies to satisfy the stakeholders’ needs based on these preferences. Moreover, a sampling adjustment strategy is introduced to improve the uniformity of the final non-dominated solution set and enhance the ability of the agent to explore the objective space. Experiments show that the proposed method can effectively solve the multi-objective problem of cooperative charging within an EVCS. Compared to the baseline method, the proposed method can achieve superior results while simultaneously reducing the computational cost to a significant extent. © 2014 IEEE.

Magnetic nanoparticles (MNPs) have excellent magnetic-temperature characteristic. However, current temperature measurement based on MNPs is interfered by concentration. Utilizing the electron spin resonance (ESR), we propose a highly sensitive temperature measurement method without concentration coupling. The anisotropic field is affected by temperature, thus affecting the g-value. The influence of the MNP concentration, size, and the data analysis method on temperature estimation are studied. The optimal temperature sensitivity is achieved with 15-nm MNPs while Gaussian smoothing method allows an optimal accuracy at Fe concentration of 5 mg/ml with a standard deviation of 0.07 K. In this study, to investigate the factors affecting container semitrailer rollovers while driving on interchange loop ramps, a simulation model was established in TruckSim on the basis of data collected from an in-depth investigation of the vehicle, road, and driving behaviors in a real accident. The established model was validated by reproducing the accident in a simulation. The effects of vehicle speed, the height of the cargo's center of gravity, tractor-semitrailer interactions, and the radius of the circular curve on container semitrailer rollover were investigated using the established model. The results reveal that if the height of the container semitrailer is within the limits in Chinese standards and the container semitrailer is moving at a speed of less than 45.3 km/h, it can safely travel through a loop ramp with a circular curve radius of 60 m. The height of the cargo's center of gravity and the lateral load transfer ratio have a negative relationship, and a higher center of gravity reduces the safe speed for a container semitrailer traveling through a loop ramp. During rollover, the rear axle of the semitrailer first begins to roll over and then drives the tractor to overturn. © 2023, The Authors. All rights reserved.

Coriolis flowmeters are designed based on the Coriolis force principle. It has high accuracy in mass flow measurement and provides additional multi-parameter measurements such as density, temperature, and volume flow. It is widely used in industrial flow measurement. Under the condition that the flowrate of single-phase flow is stable, the control and real-time tracking of most Coriolis flowmeters can meet the measurement requirements and obtain accurate real-time flow measurement results. However, when the flow conditions change rapidly, the converter system is often unable to track the flow changes in real time, and the measurement results may lag behind or even be erroneous. In this paper, a new prototype based on Zynq for the Coriolis flowmeter converter is developed in order to solve the problem of lagging behind in the measurement results. The fast sampling rate and more computational power from Zynq can realize the real-time measurement for rapidly changing flow. An experimental study using the prototype system was carried out under water flow conditions. Preliminary results showed that the repeatability under various test conditions down to one-second batch runs is within 0.1%. This verifies that the prototype system can measure rapidly changing flows.

Parallel Planning:A New Motion Planning Framework for Autonomous Driving

Motion planning is one of the most significant technologies for autonomous driving. To make motion planning models able to learn from the environment and to deal with emergency situations, a new motion planning framework called as"parallel planning" is proposed in this paper. In order to generate sufficient and various training samples, artificial traffic scenes are firstly constructed based on the knowledge from the reality.A deep planning model which combines a convolutional neural network(CNN) with the Long Short-Term Memory module(LSTM) is developed to make planning decisions in an end-toend mode. This model can learn from both real and artificial traffic scenes and imitate the driving style of human ***, a parallel deep reinforcement learning approach is also presented to improve the robustness of planning model and reduce the error rate. To handle emergency situations, a hybrid generative model including a variational auto-encoder(VAE) and a generative adversarial network(GAN) is utilized to learn from virtual emergencies generated in artificial traffic scenes. While an autonomous vehicle is moving, the hybrid generative model generates multiple video clips in parallel, which correspond to different potential emergency scenarios. Simultaneously, the deep planning model makes planning decisions for both virtual and current real scenes. The final planning decision is determined by analysis of real observations. Leveraging the parallel planning approach, the planner is able to make rational decisions without heavy calculation burden when an emergency occurs.

Optimizing Wireless Sensor Networks Based on Collaborative Beamforming

With the expansion of the scale of the Internet of Things, the transmission distance and speed of wireless networks need to be improved. Due to the limitation of power and energy of sensor nodes, data transmission is basically carried out by multi-hop relay. Collaborative beamforming is a technology that uses multiple sensor nodes to form a virtual antenna array to transmit high-gain and directional beams, which greatly enhances the transmission range. Compared with the muilt-hop network, collaborative beamforming can reduce the numbers of hop or even transmit data to the target node at one time, thus reducing the time required for routing and forwarding. This means that collaborative beamforming can transmit data more quickly and improve data throughput. In this paper, a brief introduction of cooperative beamforming is given. Then we propose an algorithm based on Collaborative beamforming. Simulation results show that the Collaborative beamforming wireless sensor networks can achieve better throughput compared with multi-hop networks.

Two-dimensional van der Waals magnetic materials have shown fascinating natural ferromagnetic properties at the atomic level, which has great potential in fields of low power spintronics, quantum computing and optical communication. Herein, the ferromagnetism and magnetic anisotropy of bulk Fe3GeTe2 (FGT) were investigated, and the testing results indicate a pronounced vertical magnetic anisotropy below the Curie temperature (Tc=165 K) of FGT. In addition, the anomalous Hall effect of FGT nanoflakes was studied at various temperatures and thicknesses by standard Hall bar device in detail. The results show the anomalous Hall resistance (0.764 Ω at 20 K decreased to 0.332 Ω at 140 K) and the obvious rectangular magnetic hysteresis rings below Tc (165 K). Furthermore, we calculated the carrier concentration (2.5×1022 cm-3 at 20K) and mobility (13.3 cm2/(v·s) at 20K) under large magnetic field (-6 T~6 T). Particularly, we demonstrated that the strong tailoring ability of the anomalous Hall effect for FGT-based magnetoelectric transport devices comes form the regulation of magnetic moment by sample thickness and magnetic field angle. The above experimental results verify that FGT is expected to be a prime candidate material for ultrathin 2D spintronic devices to the next generation. © 2024, The Authors. All rights reserved.

The bound of the information transmission rate of direct current biased optical orthogonal frequency division multiplexing (DCO-OFDM) for visible light communication (VLC) with finite-alphabet inputs is yet unknown, where the corresponding spectral efficiency (SE) and energy efficiency (EE) stems out as the open research problems. In this paper, we derive the exact achievable rate of the DCO-OFDM system with finite-alphabet inputs for the first time. Furthermore, we investigate SE maximization problems of the DCO-OFDM system subject to both electrical and optical power constraints. By exploiting the relationship between the mutual information and the minimum mean-squared error, we propose a multi-level mercury-water-filling power allocation scheme to achieve the maximum SE. Moreover, the EE maximization problems of the DCO-OFDM system are studied, and the Dinkelbach-type power allocation scheme is developed for the maximum EE. Electrocardiography (ECG) is a mandatory standard for monitoring electrical activity of the heart in many clinical settings such as intensive care and emergency units. However, in situations wherein the skin is damaged, such as acute burn injuries, it is impossible to efficiently attach electrodes to the skin. In this study, we developed a non-contact cardiac monitoring system using a 24-GHz medical radar for directly measuring the beat-to-beat heart mechanical activity at a distance from a subject. The heart rate variability (HRV) was analysed using an autoregressive model (AR) from the measured beat-to-beat intervals during a head-up tilt test. To investigate the feasibility of the proposed system, we compared medical radar and ECG recording by using Lin’s correlation coefficient and Bland–Altman analysis, which showed a negligible mean difference from the substantial agreement of Lin’s correlation coefficient of 0.9 between the radar and ECG. The non-contact radar clearly monitored dynamic changes in HRV indices induced by the head-up tilt test. This type of non-contact HRV-sensing technique as an alternative approach has significant potential for advancing personal healthcare in both clinical and out-of-hospital settings. © 2019, © 2019 Informa UK Limited, trading as Taylor & Francis Group.

To make full use of the residual audible frequency band of hearing-loss patients and improve the intelligibility of speech,an adaptive nonlinear frequency compression(NFC)algorithm is proposed,which amplifies signals below the cutoff frequency while compresses signals above the cutoff ***,high-frequency signals are decomposed to critical band signals according to the BARK ***,the global compression ratio is determined according to the patient's cutoff frequency and maximum audible ***,the sub-band compression ratio is adaptively determined based on the global compression ratio and normalized average energy of subband ***,the high frequency signals are transposed to low frequency bands by compression mapping,and the phases are adjusted to the same as the original low frequency *** results of speech intelligibility with nine subjects demonstrate that compared to conventional amplitude amplification and nonlinear frequency compression algorithms the proposed algorithm significantly improves the intelligibility of initials and sentences,while not affects the intelligibility of finals and tones significantly.
