Active Directory (AD) is the default security management system for Windows domain networks. An AD environment naturally describes an attack graph where nodes represent computers/accounts/security groups, and edges represent existing accesses/known exploits that allow the attacker to gain access from one node to another. Motivated by practical AD use cases, we study a Stackelberg game between one attacker and one defender. There are multiple entry nodes for the attacker to choose from and there is a single target (Domain Admin). Every edge has a failure rate. The attacker chooses the attack path with the maximum success rate. The defender can block a limited number of edges (i.e., revoke accesses) from a set of blockable edges, limited by budget. The defender's aim is to minimize the attacker's success rate. We exploit the tree-likeness of practical AD graphs to design scalable algorithms. We propose two novel methods that combine theoretical fixed parameter analysis and practical optimisation techniques. For graphs with small tree widths, we propose a tree decomposition based dynamic program. We then propose a general method for converting tree decomposition based dynamic programs to reinforcement learning environments, which leads to an anytime algorithm that scales better, but loses the optimality guarantee. For graphs with small numbers of non-splitting paths (a parameter we invent specifically for AD graphs), we propose a kernelization technique that significantly downsizes the model, which is then solved via mixed-integer programming. Experimentally, our algorithms scale to handle synthetic AD graphs with tens of thousands of nodes. Copyright © 2023, Association for the Advancement of Artificial Intelligence (***). This work discusses the nonlinear modeling of healthy and cancer cell population growth under the influence of radiotherapy, and proposes predictive control techniques to determine the optimal dose for tumor control, while sparing surrounding healthy tissue. Radiation effects are modelled by a linear-quadratic formalism, coupled with a novel population-specific delayed dose response. Numerical simulations of the open- and closed-loop system are conducted, and robustness against model uncertainty is studied. Results illustrate the controller’s performance when dealing with imperfect information and unexpected system behavior, and how it can be tuned to produce the desired treatment outcome. However, optimal operation is conditioned by a limited prediction horizon, as well as strict adherence to treatment schedules and dose restrictions. © IFIP International Federation for Information Processing 2024.

Intracranial vascular occlusions (IVOs) are a main purpose of stroke and can result in intense disabilities or death. Early detection and localization of IVOs is critical to decrease destructive effects. The maximum commonly used modality for imaging of the intracranial vasculature is three-dimensional magnetic resonance imaging (3-D MRI). This modality allows for volumetric imaging of the vessels which permits the detection and localization of IVOs. In this examine, we've got evolved a novel approach which is predicated on 3D MRI images for the automated detection and localization of IVOs. MERN Stack Web-Based Education Management Information Systems for Pacific Island Countries

Generation of quality data to aid planning, assessing the education performance, monitoring programs implementation and learning outcomes are the basic functions of the Education Management Information System (EMIS). This study examines the existing EMIS in the Pacific Island Countries PICs and proffers solution. A SWOT analysis on the selected PICs EMIS through the published technical reports and policy documents from government and donors’ between years 2000 and 2021, revealed that EMIS in PICs have not progressed beyond the stages of collecting demographic data and generating basic indicators. Fiji EMIS which has prospect of leading other PICs EMIS could only generate few indicators manually, and the findings indicate that these indicators are not being considered in decision making. To solve these defects, we proposed data-driven microservices architecture developed with MERN (MongoDB, ExpressJS, ReactJS, and NodeJS) stack on 13 NoSQL collections, tested with pseudonymised data from Fiji Ministry of Education (consisting of 98.6% Learners, 100.2% schools and 99.5% Teachers in post). Our solution renders dynamic visualized production-ready education data and 28 UNESCO standard indicators to guide decision making and this may serve as a model for PICs EMIS. © 2022, The Author(s), under exclusive licence to Springer Nature Singapore Pte Ltd.

In this paper,a cost-effective and miniaturized instrument is proposed,which is based on a tunable modulated grating Y-branch(MG-Y)laser for rapid temperature measurement using a Fabry-Perot interferometer(FPI)*** FPI sensor with a 1463-μm cavity length is a short segment of a capillary tube sandwiched by two sections of single-mode fibers(SMFs).This system has a broad tunable range(1527 nm-1567 nm)with a wavelength interval of 8 pm and a tuning rate of 100 *** sensing experiments are carried out to investigate the performance of the system by demodulating the absolute cavity length of the FPI sensor using a cross-correlation *** results show that the sensor can reach the response time as short as 94 ms with the sensitivity of 802 pm/*** from the homemade and integrated essential electrical circuits,the entire system has the small size,low cost,and practical application potential to be used in the harsh environment for rapid temperature measurement.

As interest in multi-core systems grows, so does the potential for information leakage throughcovert channel communication. Covert channel attacks pose a severe threat because they can exposeconfidential information and data. To counter these attacks, it is essential to understand varioustypes of covert channel attacks and their characteristics. Thermal covert channel and covert timingchannel attacks, which use temperature and timing respectively to transfer information, are twodominant examples that can compromise sensitive data. In this paper, we propose a methodologyfor jointly detecting and mitigating these types of attacks, which has been lacking in the *** experiments have demonstrated that the proposed countermeasures can increase the bit error rate(BER) for mitigation while maintaining comparable power consumption to that of the state-of-the-art. © 2024, The Authors. As one of the most promising materials for two-dimensional transition metal chalcogenides(2D TMDs),molybdenum diselenide(MoSe_(2))has great potential in photodetectors due to its excellent properties like tunable bandgap,high carrier mobility,and excellent air *** 2D MoSe_(2)-based photodetectors have been reported to exhibit admired performance,the large-area 2D MoSe_(2)layers are difficult to be achieved via conventional synthesis methods,which severely impedes its future ***,we present the controllable growth of large-area 2D MoSe_(2)layers over 3.5-inch with excellent homogeneity by a simple post-selenization ***,a high-quality n-MoSe_(2)/p-Si van der Waals(vdW)heterojunction device is in-situ fabricated by directly growing 2D n-MoSe_(2)layers on the patterned p-Si substrate,which shows a self-driven broadband photoresponse ranging from ultraviolet to mid-wave infrared with an impressive responsivity of 720.5 mA·W^(−1),a high specific detectivity of 10^(13) Jones,and a fast response time to follow nanosecond pulsed optical *** addition,thanks to the inch-level 2D MoSe_(2)layers,a 4×4 integrated heterojunction device array is achieved,which has demonstrated good uniformity and satisfying imaging *** large-area 2D MoSe_(2)layer and its heterojunction device array have great promise for high-performance photodetection and imaging applications in integrated optoelectronic systems.
