Nanophotonic structures, such as photonic crystals, plasmonic nanostructures, and metamaterials, present transformative potential in advancing optical devices through innovative design capabilities. Among these, metamaterials—specifically metal–insulator–metal (MIM)-based absorbers—stand out for their ability to achieve high electromagnetic wave absorption across designated frequencies, proving valuable in applications ranging from solar cells to sensors. This study focuses on designing a high-efficiency MXene–SiO2–silver MIM metasurface absorber, leveraging deep learning techniques to streamline and enhance the simulation process traditionally reliant on finite-difference time-domain (FDTD) or finite-element methods (FEMs). By utilizing a deformable convolutional neural network (CNN), the proposed model predicts absorption spectra from metasurface geometries with superior accuracy and reduced computational demand while achieving dynamic spatial transformation handling. The model’s accuracy is further elucidated through Gradient-weighted Class Activation Mapping (Grad-CAM), which provides insights into the absorber’s most influential regions, supporting targeted optimization for specific applications. This deep learning approach demonstrates significant advantages over conventional methods in efficiency and adaptability, advancing the development of high-performance nanophotonic devices. © 2025 Optica Publishing Group. The phase difference Δξ between locked islands(2/1 and 3/1) has been found to influence the heat transport on the thermal quench during disruptions by numerical modeling [Hu Q et al *** 59,016005].To verify this experimentally,a set of resonant magnetic perturbation(RMP) coils is required to excite coupled magnetic islands with different Δξ.The spectrum analysis shows that the current RMP coils on J-TEXT can only produce sufficient 2/1 and 3/1RMP fields with a limited phase difference of Δξ∈[-75°,75°].In order to broaden the adjustable range of Δξ,a set of coils on the high field side(HFS) is proposed to generate 2/1 and 3/1 RMP fields with Δξ=180°.As a result,RMPs with adjustable Δξ∈[-180°,180°] and sufficient amplitudes could be achieved by applying the HFS coils and the low field side(LFS)*** work provides a feasible solution for flexible adjustment of the phase difference between m and m+1 RMP,which might facilitate the study of major disruptions and their control.

Time-variant metasurfaces [1] have recently provided an ultra-fast approach to manipulating the optical response compared with conventional tunable approaches, like thermal and electric tuning. They allow for femtosecond scale switching by tuning under high-energy pumping sources. However, despite the recent advances in this field, the ability to precisely tailor the metasurface bandwidth with ultra-fast time response has not been carefully explored. © 2023 IEEE.

Topological spin textures on artificial pinning landscape may show unique static and dynamic properties. Here, we computationally show that the helicity of frustrated skyrmions on an artificial square-grid obstacle pattern can be switched by a spin current pulse. The obstacle pattern is formed by defect lines with enhanced perpendicular magnetic anisotropy, which could protect the skyrmion from being annihilated at the sample edge. It is found that the skyrmion driven by a moderate current shows a circular motion guided by the boundary of the obstacle pattern, while it shows an almost straight motion toward the sample edge in the absence of the obstacle pattern. By applying a short pulse current to drive the skyrmion in a sample with the obstacle pattern, we find that the helicity of the skyrmion could be switched between Bloch-type configurations favored by the dipole-dipole interaction. Besides, we demonstrate the pos-sibility of switching the helicity of an array of skyrmions on the square-grid obstacle pattern using the same method. Our results could be useful for the helicity control of topological spin textures, and may provide guidelines for building future helicity-based spintronic functions. © 2023 by the Magnetics Society of Japan.

Recent deep learning models developed to address classification problems related to medical imaging for diagnosis focus on supervised models. However, supervised models are highly dependent on a large amount of accurately labeled training data to train the models. Obtaining such accurately labeled training data is expensive, time-consuming, and requires human expertise, which challenges the generalizing ability of deep learning models in many medical fields. To address this problem, we propose MeanMatch, a semi-supervised method that use a limited amount of labeled data and many unlabeled data to train deep models. We also employ the voting technical to assemble the deep models to improve the generalization performance. Finally, we conduct experiments on the breast-ultrasound image dataset to verify the effectiveness of our approach and compare it to the current state-of-the-art semi-supervised methods. Experimental results show that our method achieves the highest classification accuracy of 83.0\% on the test set, which outperforms or is comparable to the comparison methods and the supervised models. © 2022 SPIE. Partial multi-label learning (PML) tackles the problem that each example is assigned a candidate label set, of which only a subset is the ground-truth labels. By decomposing the problem using the first-order strategy, we found that PML is similar to the problem of learning with label noise. Motivated by this observation, we proposed a novel method, PML-CV, which tackles the PML problem with a cross-validation approach. To be specific, PML-CV enhances potentially correct labels by using cross-validation. And then use an example refining scheme to weaken the impact of noisy labels further. We also provide some theoretical analysis to explain the effectiveness of our proposed method. Finally, we conduct extensive experiments on different datasets to verify the effectiveness of our method. The experimental results verify that our method is comparable to current state-of-the-art methods. © 2022 SPIE. All rights reserved.

Power transformers are among the most important assets in the power transmission and distribution grid. However, they suffer from degradation and possible faults causing major electrical and financial losses. Partial discharges (PDs) are used to identify the insulation health status and their degradation level. PDs are incipient, low-magnitude faults caused by localized dielectric breakdown. Those activities emit signals in many forms, including electrical, chemical, acoustic, electromagnetic, and optical, facilitating various detection methods. This paper provides a theoretical basis for the condition evaluation of an oil-filled power transformer and clarifies the relationship between the operating voltage, void location, and electric-field intensity within the void. This was achieved by investigating the propagation characteristics of partial discharge signals in an oil-filled power transformer using a 3D finite element method (FEM) based simulation. Moreover, the characterization of simulated PD sources at different positions is investigated in this paper. The simulation results are curried out to show that air voids near the windings are subject to greatest peak electric field intensity. © 2023 IEEE.

MV cables are widely used to deliver electrical power from a transmission system to the consumers. XLPE (Cross-Linked Polyethylene) is the most common material used for cables insulation due to its excellent dielectric and mechanical properties. The XLPE cables are exposed to different types of stresses that impacts their functionality. Under elevated temperature conditions, thermal expansion in the insulation region can contribute to the development of mechanical stress. Mechanical stress greatly affects the performance of the cable and can contribute to faster aging when exposed for a prolonged period. Presence of voids or impurities can accentuate the impact of mechanical stress due to a reduction in the dielectric properties of the insulation. This paper provides a brief review of the phenomenon of mechanical stress due to severe thermal conditions and its impact on the different mechanical properties of the cable. The paper also illustrates the cable insulation properties for different number of voids in the insulation region. Finite Element Analysis (FEA) technique on COMSOL multiphysics software is used in this study. The paper will illustrate the correlation between the tensile stress in the insulation region and the aging time with regards to the increase in the number of voids. The study provides thermo-mechanical stress distribution of the cable and the influence of mechanical stress on the cable functionality. © 2022 IEEE.

In this work,an 8×8 Ga_(2)O_(3)solar-blind ultraviolet photodetector array is introduced for image sensing *** 2-in wafer-scaled Ga_(2)O_(3)thin film was grown by metalorganic chemical vapor deposition technique;and the photodetector array was fabricated through ultraviolet photolithography,lift-off,and electron-beam *** addition to the high solar-blind/visible rejection ratio of 104,every photodetector cell in the array has high performance and fast response speed,such as responsivity of 49.4 A W^(-1),specific detectivity of 6.8×10^(14)Jones,external quantum efficiency of 1.9×10^(4)%,linear dynamic range of 117.8 d B,and response time of 41 ms,respectively,indicating the high photo-response performance of the ***,the photodetector array displayed uniform responsivity with a standard deviation of~6%,and presented a sensing image of low chromatic aberration,owing to the high resolution of the photodetector *** a word,this work may contribute to developing Ga_(2)O_(3)-based optoelectronic device applications.
