MV cables are widely used to deliver electrical power from a transmission system to the consumers. XLPE (Cross-Linked Polyethylene) is the most common material used for cables insulation due to its excellent dielectric and mechanical properties. The XLPE cables are exposed to different types of stresses that impacts their functionality. Under elevated temperature conditions, thermal expansion in the insulation region can contribute to the development of mechanical stress. Mechanical stress greatly affects the performance of the cable and can contribute to faster aging when exposed for a prolonged period. Presence of voids or impurities can accentuate the impact of mechanical stress due to a reduction in the dielectric properties of the insulation. This paper provides a brief review of the phenomenon of mechanical stress due to severe thermal conditions and its impact on the different mechanical properties of the cable. The paper also illustrates the cable insulation properties for different number of voids in the insulation region. Finite Element Analysis (FEA) technique on COMSOL multiphysics software is used in this study. The paper will illustrate the correlation between the tensile stress in the insulation region and the aging time with regards to the increase in the number of voids. The study provides thermo-mechanical stress distribution of the cable and the influence of mechanical stress on the cable functionality. © 2022 IEEE.

In this work,an 8×8 Ga_(2)O_(3)solar-blind ultraviolet photodetector array is introduced for image sensing *** 2-in wafer-scaled Ga_(2)O_(3)thin film was grown by metalorganic chemical vapor deposition technique;and the photodetector array was fabricated through ultraviolet photolithography,lift-off,and electron-beam *** addition to the high solar-blind/visible rejection ratio of 104,every photodetector cell in the array has high performance and fast response speed,such as responsivity of 49.4 A W^(-1),specific detectivity of 6.8×10^(14)Jones,external quantum efficiency of 1.9×10^(4)%,linear dynamic range of 117.8 d B,and response time of 41 ms,respectively,indicating the high photo-response performance of the ***,the photodetector array displayed uniform responsivity with a standard deviation of~6%,and presented a sensing image of low chromatic aberration,owing to the high resolution of the photodetector *** a word,this work may contribute to developing Ga_(2)O_(3)-based optoelectronic device applications.

The aim and objective of this study is to investigate the material synthesis and superconducting properties of YBa2Cu4O8(Y-124) synthesized from YBa2Cu3O7-x(Y-123) and CuO powders. A commercial Y-123 and CuO powders were used to synthesize polycrystalline Y-124 employing the conventional solid state reaction method with heating at 1 atm oxygen pressure. Sodium nitrate was used as catalytic enhancer during the chemical reaction. The samples were subjected to twice sintering at 815 °C for 24 h with intermittent grinding. Analysis of the x-ray diffraction (XRD) data showed that Y-124 phase is dominance (81.1 wt%) in the samples with the presence of Y-123, and CuO as secondary phases. The thermogravimetric curve shows a small oxygen loss at ∼400 °C and rapid oxygen loss above ∼850 °C. Scanning electron microscope (SEM) images revealed that the samples had irregular grain shapes ranging in size from a few micrometers to fractions of a micrometer. The four-point-probe method was used to measure superconducting transition temperature (Tc). The samples exhibited a dual superconducting transition with the onset Tcof around 77 K and 87 K, respectively. This is consistent with the co-existence of superconducting phase Y-124 and Y-123. This two-level Tccharacteristic of the sample gave potential application in multiples industries, including electronics, transportation, and data storage and processing. This study demonstrates how efficient and optimal conditions can be used to produce the Y-124 phase. © 2024 Elsevier Ltd. All rights reserved.

The behavior of multiple modes before and during minor disruption with the external resonant magnetic perturbations(RMPs)has been studied on a J-TEXT *** main component of RMPs is m/n=2/1,where m and n are the numbers of the poloidal and toroidal modes,*** the mode-locking caused by RMPs,it is found that before a minor or a major disruption(if there is no minor disruption),strong oscillations in both electron temperature and density occur if the edge safety factor q_(a)>*** analysis shows that the oscillations are caused by the m/n=3/1 *** addition,using the ECE,Mirnov coils and 2D electron cyclotron emission imaging diagnostic systems,it is found that a thermal collapse occurs on the inner side of the 2/1magnetic island during the minor disruption,and before the collapse,a 3/2 island increases,after the collapse,the 3/2 island may ***,the study also shows that these 3/1,2/1 and 3/2modes play roles in the thermal collapse of disruptions.

Bi-level Guided Diffusion Models for Zero-Shot Medical Imaging Inverse Problems

In the realm of medical imaging, inverse problems aim to infer high-quality images from incomplete, noisy measurements, with the objective of minimizing expenses and risks to patients in clinical settings. The Diffusion Models have recently emerged as a promising approach to such practical challenges, proving particularly useful for the zero-shot inference of images from partially acquired measurements in Magnetic Resonance Imaging (MRI) and Computed Tomography (CT). A central challenge in this approach, however, is how to guide an unconditional prediction to conform to the measurement information. Existing methods rely on deficient projection or inefficient posterior score approximation guidance, which often leads to suboptimal performance. In this paper, we propose Bi-level Guided Diffusion Models (BGDM), a zero-shot imaging framework that efficiently steers the initial unconditional prediction through a bi-level guidance strategy. Specifically, BGDM first approximates an inner-level conditional posterior mean as an initial measurement-consistent reference point and then solves an outer-level proximal optimization objective to reinforce the measurement consistency. Our experimental findings, using publicly available MRI and CT medical datasets, reveal that BGDM is more effective and efficient compared to the baselines, faithfully generating high-fidelity medical images and substantially reducing hallucinatory artifacts in cases of severe degradation. © 2024, CC BY.

Statistics of 3rd-order modal dispersion in mode-division multiplexing optical communication systems

Based on the group-delay matrix and its frequency derivatives, we study the statistics of modal dispersion (MD) up to 3rd order in randomly perturbed fibers. Particularly, we numerically simulate and analyze the statistical properties of quantities that characterize various aspects of the MD in a randomly perturbed six-mode fiber of sufficiently large length L. The results show that, under proper normalization by the group-delay difference, the probability density functions (PDFs) of all 1st-, 2nd-, and 3rd-order MD are essentially independent of L. Furthermore, we find that the 2nd-order and 3rd-order MD effects become significant at roughly the same signal spectral width, and the frequency variation of the principal modes dominates over that of the group delays in both the 2nd- and 3rd-order MD. The correlations among MD of different orders are also investigated by simulating the bivariate joint PDFs of relevant quantities. © 2025 Optica Publishing Group. Precision agriculture practices involve deploying the sensors in agricultural farms, to collect data about various factors responsible for crop growth and development. Recently this sensor data is used for generating a virtual replica of the corresponding agricultural physical asset (crop, farm, etc.) called the digital twin (DT). The DT primarily collects data about the current state of a physical asset through sensors. A Deep Learning (DL) model underlying a DT processes this data and generates recommendations. The DL algorithms are, however, often perceived as 'black-boxes', which has led to the development of eXplainable artificial intelligence (XAI) approaches. Also, the DL algorithms are limited to generating predictions based on the past data, which can be easily countered by the real-time change tracking capability of the DTs. Therefore, in this work we propose a novel framework of eXplainable Digital Twins (XDTs), which leverages the strengths of both XAI for DL algorithms and the real-time responsiveness of the DTs. Further, we feel that DL algorithms requires huge volumes of data for training and model development. In agricultural domain, where a number of domain experts (like, a farmer has lots of experience about crops, etc.) are involved, we feel this data hungriness limitation of the DL models can be removed by complementing the sensor data with qualitative inputs of the domain experts. Therefore, we also propose (a possible framework) Enhanced XDTs (EXDTs), which use the domain experts' qualitative data, satellite & meteorological data as well as the generated explanations from the XDTs to generate (better) explanations and also suggest necessary state changes to the corresponding agricultural physical asset. We feel our proposed framework is useful for the involved stakeholders in precision agriculture and can be used in other domains as well. © 2024 IEEE.

The controlled vapor-phase synthesis of two-dimensional (2D) transition metal dichalcogenides (TMDs) is essential for functional applications. While chemical vapor deposition (CVD) techniques have been successful for transition metal sulfides, extending these methods to selenides and tellurides often faces challenges due to uncertain roles of hydrogen (H2) in their synthesis. Using CVD growth of MoSe2 as an example, this study illustrates the role of a H2-free environment during temperature ramping in suppressing the reduction of MoO3, which promotes effective vaporization and selenization of the Mo precursor to form MoSe2 monolayers with excellent crystal quality. As-synthesized MoSe2 monolayer-based field-effect transistors show excellent carrier mobility of up to 20.9 cm2/(V·s) with an on-off ratio of 7 × 107. This approach can be extended to other TMDs, such as WSe2, MoTe2, and MoSe2/WSe2 in-plane heterostructures. Our work provides a rational and facile approach to reproducibly synthesize high-quality TMD monolayers, facilitating their translation from laboratory to manufacturing. © 2024 American Chemical Society.

This study introduces an innovative methodology for real-time cardiac image processing with the purpose of diagnosing heart issues. To achieve this, employ cutting-edge deep learning techniques. Given the escalating incidence of cardiovascular diseases, there exists an urgent requirement for state-of-the-art technologies that can enhance the accuracy of diagnoses and accelerate the duration of assessments. The proposed methodology utilizes an internally developed deep neural network architecture for real-time evaluation of cardiac images. The proposed method has demonstrated superior performance in broad testing and analysis across multiple datasets when compared to state-of-the-art alternatives. The findings indicate that the model is capable of performing the critical evaluations necessary for prompt action. This study makes a substantial contribution to the dynamic field of cardiac image processing by presenting a pragmatic approach to enhancing diagnostic accuracy and expediting clinical decision-making in the evaluation of cardiovascular conditions. © 2023 IEEE.
