In response to the problem of poor detection performance of the traditional Sobel operator in edge detection, a high-precision edge detection algorithm based on Sobel operator-assisted Holistically-nested Edge Detection (HED) network was proposed, which is named ISAHED here. The algorithm is designed as follows. Firstly, an improved Sobel operator based on the traditional Sobel operator was proposed through adding gradient direction. Then, the image output by the improved Sobel operator is taken as the ground-truth image and as the end-to-end comparison object in a HED-like network. Finally, the ISAHED algorithm outputs edge images with better quality through iterative learning of the HED-like neural network. The experimental results prove that the proposed ISAHED algorithm has better edge detection performance by visually observing the final edge images and further evaluating the values of FOM. This work provides an important reference for the further development of the edge detection technology.

The assembly process of complex products involves many process links, which is a dynamic process with multiple variables and complex coupling. Effective quality control of the assembly process plays an important role in improving the consistency of complex product quality. However, in the actual assembly process, even if the quality of each component meets the design requirements, deviations still gradually accumulate and spread in the process, and it is ultimately difficult to ensure the assembly quality. To effectively identify the key assembly features and the deviation propagation paths in the assembly process, this paper investigates the assembly deviation propagation problem of complex assemblies based on complex network theory. Firstly, based on the measured data, feature surface information, and assembly process, a coupled network model of parts-features is constructed for describing the complex assembly systems by taking assembly parts as nodes and assembly relationships as edges. Then, the node importance indexes of the assembly deviation propagation network are measured to identify the key assembly features, and trace and control the corresponding deviation assembly nodes. Finally, as a typical complex multi-stage process, the diesel engine assembly system is used for validation. Through experimental comparison with actual assembly processes, the results show that this method can effectively model the deviation flow in multi-stage assembly processes, identify key quality factors, and achieve deviation traceability.

Nowadays many modern prostheses hand are available on the market today, but they are still far from being able to completely replace the human hand. In addition, there are many factors that limit the ability to fully use the prostheses by individuals with hand disability caused by amputation or nerve damage. This article presents a new concept of hand disability rehabilitation means, which allows precise manipulation of the instrument and, thus, a system to facilitate the reintegration in the labour market. The operation of tool manipulation is divided into initial rough and final fine movement phases. At the initial phase, the prosthesis is freely transferred in the workspace of the user stump. the precise movement of the instrument at the final phase is performed by a micromanipulator built into the prosthesis and resting on a table or other environmental objects. An inverted system is possible, in which the manipulator is installed on the desktop, where then the prosthesis can rest or the targeted object is fixed on it, for example, assembly process. The manipulator is controlled either by the prosthesis socket or by an external device. In the latter case, the user carries out the control actions by various parts of the body or by voice. As an example of a possible implementation of this concept, the design of a prosthesis with an integrated three-degree manipulator carried on adaptive support is described. The support naturally adjusts to the comfortable height and orientation of the tool, then its braked. A computer model of speed-position control of the rehabilitation system is presented. © Published under licence by IOP Publishing Ltd.

The article presents a drone sensory database collected during flights with different types of propeller failures. Measurements from four accelerometers and four gyroscopes were collected during 20 flights with two types of faults occurring in different configurations in one, two, three or four rotors. The paper shows the architecture of the system and the procedure for acquiring and processing the data. Raw sensor outputs, pretreated data, and digitally processed signals were provided in a publicly available repository, the structure and purpose of which are discussed in the paper. The applicability and potential use of the shared data for other research are indicated. The provided repository should be helpful in developing methods for detecting and classifying faults in actuators of unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs). It will be particularly useful for researchers working on data-driven methods. The default purpose of the dataset is to train artificial intelligence models that require large amounts of data.

In the task of monitoring mushroom growth characteristics, the mushroom cap is one of the most important features. To address the challenges faced by traditional instance segmentation algorithms in segmenting the caps of seafood mushrooms during the early stages of growth, such as unclear edges and low success rates. This paper proposes the application of the Mask2Former algorithm for instance segmentation of the caps of seafood mushrooms in their early differentiation stage. First, camera equipment was set up to capture images of the mushroom house for dataset creation. Then, the collected images were augmented through techniques such as flipping and adding noise. Finally, the processed images were input into the model, allowing Mask2Former to be compared with three other instance segmentation algorithms. Experimental results demonstrated that Mask2Former performed better in segmenting small mushroom caps during the early growth stage of seafood mushrooms, achieving an average precision (AP) of 96.731%, which effectively meets practical production needs.

The use of intelligent garbage classification methods and devices for waste sorting is set to become the future trend in waste management. With the development of high-precision image recognition algorithms, research in intelligent garbage classification has gradually matured. The core lies in utilizing image recognition technology to analyze garbage image information, thereby surpassing the limitations of manual sorting and achieving higher standards of speed and accuracy. This paper proposes a target detection scheme based on the introduction of the C2f_RepGhost module into YOLOv8, aiming to construct a model system for efficient garbage identification and classification. Thanks to its streamlined design and real-time response characteristics, this model can operate efficiently on platforms such as smart mobile devices, enabling real-time intelligent automatic classification of various types of waste.

Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD) is a neurodevelopmental disorder characterized by impairments in social interaction and communication, repetitive behaviors and restricted interests. Assessments and interventions targeting affective expression are crucial for supporting the development of children with ASD. However, existing approaches face challenges related to complex interventions, lack of unified metrics, and inadequate immersion and guidance in providing effective affective assessment. In this paper, an innovative humanoid robot is designed and evaluated to address specific challenges and assess the ability of children with ASD in affective imitative expression. The robot, with its meticulously designed mechanical and hardware structure, incorporates an assessment protocol for affective imitative expression and algorithms for assessing affective expression abilities. It utilizes several specially designed assessment metrics to generate a uniquely tailored assessment scale for affective imitative expression. A preliminary experiment involving ten neurotypical adults has been conducted to validate the feasibility and accuracy of the proposed system. The results demonstrate potential in supporting rehabilitation planning and research for ASD assessments.

An Improved Interactive Dmps Based on Force-Controlled Dynamic Coupling Term

Dynamic movement primitives (DMPs) is able to reproduce the motion features of demonstrated trajectories, which is a common method for Learning from Demonstration. It is also possible to modify the shape of the reproduced trajectory by adding a coupling term into the system. However, it is difficult for DMPs modulated by conventional coupling terms to retain imitation of demonstration while controlling the shape of trajectory. Therefore, a DMPs method improved by a force-controlled dynamic coupling term (FDCT), called FDC-DMPs, is proposed in this paper. The method is able to control the modification amplitude of reproduced trajectory shape adaptively according to the interaction force while maintaining high similarity between the trajectory and demonstration by optimizing the parameters in the system. A simulation experiment and an application experiment on a KUKA KR6 robot are conducted to verify the superiority of the method and the feasibility of it to help robot deal with changing obstacle constraints in practical application. © 2023, The Authors. Terahertz(THz)imaging has drawn significant attention because THz wave has a unique capability to transient,ultrawide spectrum and low photon ***,the low resolution has always been a problem due to its long wavelength,limiting their application of fields practical *** this paper,we proposed a complex one-shot super-resolution(COSSR)framework based on a complex convolution neural network to restore superior THz images at 0.35 times wavelength by extracting features directly from a reference measured sample and groundtruth without the measured *** with real convolution neural network-based approaches and complex zero-shot super-resolution(CZSSR),COSSR delivers at least 6.67,0.003,and 6.96%superior higher imaging efficacy in terms of peak signal to noise ratio(PSNR),mean square error(MSE),and structural similarity index measure(SSIM),respectively,for the analyzed ***,the proposed method is experimentally demonstrated to have a good generalization and to perform well on measured *** COSSR provides a new pathway for THz imaging super-resolution(SR)reconstruction below the diffraction limit.

This paper introduces a method for controlling UAV swarm formations and avoiding collisions using the Virtual Spring-Damper (VSD) approach. This approach draws upon classical mechanical spring-damper systems, employing displacement and velocities to generate attractive and repulsive forces. These forces help sustain swarm formation and prevent collisions in a decentralized manner. Extensive simulations provided a systematic approach to obtain the parameters involved in the spring-damper system. Flight tests were carried out to verify the proposed method. The experimental outcomes align with our simulations, demonstrating effectiveness in collision avoidance while preserving a specified flight formation.
