Android platform offers a hybrid concurrency model encompassing multi-threading and asynchronous messaging for concurrent programming. The model is powerful but complex, making it difficult for developers to analyze concurrent behaviors. Data race, a prevalent concurrency defect in real-world Android applications, often results in abnormal executions of mobile applications, even crashes. Despite quite a few studies on detecting data races, it still suffers from high false positives with static analysis techniques and high false negatives with dynamic analysis techniques. To address this issue, this paper presents a predictive approach, PredRacer, for detecting data races in Android applications. It first captures an execution trace of an Android application, and then reorders the events within the trace based on partial orders. Finally, it checks the feasibility of the generated event sequence, which contains a potential data race. PredRacer increases the search scope and reduces false negatives while mitigating false positives by incorporating the happen-before relations specific to the Android concurrency model. The effectiveness of PredRacer is evaluated using the BenchERoid data set. Experimental results demonstrate that PredRacer achieves high precision, recall, and F1 score, outperforming the state-of-the-art techniques. A collection of 20 open-source Android applications is further utilized to assess the effectiveness of PredRacer, and an evaluation of 300 wild apps is conducted to assess its efficiency and scalability. © 2024 IEEE.

UAV (Unmanned Aerial Vehicle) navigation can be considered as the process of robots that determine how to successfully and quickly reach the target location. Specifically, in order to complete the scheduled task successfully, the UAV must accurately understand its status, such as position, navigation speed, heading, as well as the starting point and target position. Moreover, it mainly depends on the current environment and location. Weakly-supervised Temporal Action Localization (WTAL) following a localization-by-classification paradigm has achieved significant results, yet still grapples with confounding arising from ambiguous snippets. Previous works have attempted to distinguish these ambiguous snippets from action snippets without investigating the underlying causes of their formation, thus failing to effectively eliminate the bias on both action-context and action-content. In this paper, we revisit WTAL from the perspective of structural causal model to identify the true origins of confounding, and propose an efficient dual-confounding eliminating framework to alleviate these biases. Specifically, we construct a Substituted Confounder Set (SCS) to eliminate the confounding bias on action-context by leveraging the modal disparity between RGB and FLOW. Then, a Multi-level Consistency Mining (MCM) method is designed to mitigate the confounding bias on action-content by utilizing the consistency between discriminative snippets and corresponding proposals at both the feature and label levels. Notably, SCS and MCM could be seamlessly integrated into any two-stream models without additional parameters by Expectation-Maximization (EM) algorithm. Extensive experiments on two challenging benchmarks including THUMOS14 and ActivityNet-1.2 demonstrate the superior performance of our method. © 2024 ACM.

This study investigated the characteristics of data clumps in UML class diagrams. Data clumps are group of variables which appear together in multiple locations. In this study we compared the data clumps characteristics in UML class diagrams with them of source code projects. By analyzing the extensive Lindholmen and GenMyModel datasets, known for their real–world applicability, diversity, and containing more than 100,000 class diagrams in total, significant differences in the distribution and nature of data clumps were revealed. Approximately 19 % of the analyzed class diagrams contained data clumps. It was observed that field–field data clumps predominated in UML class diagrams, particularly in the GenMyModel dataset, while parameter–parameter data clumps were less frequent. Moreover, in contrast to the distribution in source code projects, data clumps in UML class diagrams were typically distributed across multiple classes or interfaces, forming larger chains. parameter–parameter data clumps were predominant in source code projects, indicating more detailed implementation of methods in these projects. These findings reflect different modeling approaches and paradigms among the respective user groups. This study has provided important insights regarding the development of UML modeling tools, teaching methods, and design practices in software development. © 2024 by SCITEPRESS – science and Technology Publications, Lda.

Graffiti detection is essential in historic building protection and urban neighborhood management. Graffiti detection has made significant progress in recent years based on the development of deep learning. However, small-scale graffiti, interference from the background, and the false detection of word parts in graffiti make it a challenging problem. This article proposes a Transformer-based high-precision graffiti detection method, namely DIG. Precisely, it consists of three modules: 1) Spatial query selection (SQS), scale-aware IoU loss (SIL);2) Denoising Task with binary contrastive denoising (BCDN);and 3) IoU-guided box denoising (IBD) modules. To detect small-scale graffiti, this paper proposes SIL to help the loss function to perceive small-scale graffiti and large-scale graffiti fairly. To reduce the false detection of word parts, this article presents the SQS module, which integrates spatial information into the query selection process of the Encoder to filter out falsely detected bounding boxes within the graffiti. To reduce the interference from the background, this article introduces a denoising task with BCDN and IBD modules, improving the model’s ability to distinguish graffiti from the background and accurately select appropriate bounding boxes. A large number of experimental results on the STORM dataset show that our method achieves state-of-the-art results with an AP50 of 87.9%. Moreover, DIG achieved competitive results on the FineFM dataset for mask detection. This indicates that DIG can also be conveniently transferred to detect other scenarios. © 2013 IEEE.

Colorectal polyps can evolve into colon cancer over time. Early screening or detection of colon polyps using computer-aided detection (CAD) techniques along with removal of the polyps can lower the risk of colon cancer. As an alternative to optimal colonoscopy (OC), virtual colonoscopy (VC) has the advantage of non-invasiveness in the detection of colon polyps. Recent decades have witnessed rapid advancement in VC based polyp detection and false positive (FP) reduction techniques using machine learning or deep learning methods. However, the majority of existing methods are based on the computation using computed tomography (CT) images of patient data, which are in some cases very computationally expensive, particularly in the scenario of necessity of large dataset for model training. In this paper, we propose a novel automatic polyp detection method termed Mesh-PolypDet using the surface meshes of colorectal data. The initial detection of polyp candidates is performed on 3D colon surface meshes, and the subsequent FP reduction is carried out using the visual transformer and conformal mapping. Experiments are conducted to evaluate the performance of the proposed method in comparison with other existing methods. © 2024 Interfaces and Human computer Interaction. All Rights Reserved.

Deep neural networks (DNNs) have recently achieved remarkable advancements in time series forecasting (TSF) due to their powerful ability of sequence dependence modeling. To date, existing DNN-based TSF methods still suffer from unreliable predictions for real-world data due to its non-stationarity characteristics, i.e., data distribution varies quickly over time. To mitigate this issue, several normalization methods (e.g., SAN) have recently been specifically designed by normalization in a fixed period/window in the time domain. However, these methods still struggle to capture distribution variations, due to the complex time patterns of time series in the time domain. Based on the fact that wavelet transform can decompose time series into a linear combination of different frequencies, which exhibits distribution variations with time-varying periods, we propose a novel Dual-domain Dynamic Normalization (DDN) to dynamically capture distribution variations in both time and frequency domains. Specifically, our DDN tries to eliminate the non-stationarity of time series via both frequency and time domain normalization in a sliding window way. Besides, our DDN can serve as a plug-in-play module, and thus can be easily incorporated into other forecasting models. Extensive experiments on public benchmark datasets under different forecasting models demonstrate the superiority of our DDN over other normalization methods. The Internet of Things (IoT) is a network of interconnected objects, which congregate and exchange gigantic amounts of data. Usually, predeployed embedded sensors sense this massive data. Soon, several applications of IoT are anticipated to exploit emerging 6G technology. Healthcare is one of them, where the 6G-inspired paradigm may facilitate the users to exchange information through hundreds of sensors under the assumption of Artificial Intelligence of Things (AIoT). Integration of medical sensors with AIoT is known as Artificial Intelligence of Medical Things (AIoMT). The secure and seamless interactions among 6G-enabled AIoMT users should be the primary challenge. Furthermore, resource-constrained wearable sensing devices, with their inability to execute complex security solutions, provide an ideal attraction for malicious entities to launch diverse attacks. These challenges have motivated us to design a cost-effective authenticated solution (CAS) for 6G-enabled AIoMT healthcare applications. Our CAS protocol not only prevents cyber threats like impersonation session key secrecy but it can also prevent physical threats like hardware tampering. We observe formal and informal security validations to endorse its robustness and effectiveness. Performance comparison reveals that the CAS protocol offers maximum security enrichment. Moreover, CAS is cost-effective as it has achieved 33% and 60% reduction in computation and communication overheads, respectively, compared to contemporary competing related protocols. © 2014 IEEE.

High-performance computing and deep learning domains have been motivating the design of domain-specific *** these processors can provide promising computation capability,they are notorious for exotic programming *** improve programming productivity and fully exploit the performance potential of these processors,domain-specific compilers(DSCs) have been ***,building DSCs for emerging processors requires tremendous engineering efforts because the commonly used compilation stack is difficult to be *** to the advent of multilevel intermediate representation(MLIR),DSC developers can leverage reusable infrastructure to extend their customized functionalities without rebuilding the entire compilation *** this paper,we further demonstrate the effectiveness of MLIR by extending its reusable infrastructure to embrace a heterogeneous many-core processor(Sunway processor).In particular,we design a new Sunway dialect and corresponding backend for the Sunway processor,fully exploiting its architectural advantage and hiding its programming *** show the ease of building a DSC,we leverage the Sunway dialect and existing MLIR dialects to build a stencil compiler for the Sunway *** experimental results show that our stencil compiler,built with a reusable approach,can even perform better than state-of-the-art stencil compilers.

This paper proposes a medical diagnosis and treatment knowledge question and answer scheme based on clinical practice guidelines, aiming at the need of standardization of medical process and popularization of medical knowledge. The scheme realizes computer intelligent diagnosis and treatment assistance through diagnosis and treatment knowledge base construction, problem analysis, information retrieval and answer generation. The SDA*(State-DecisionAction) modeling method and question formal definition for hypertension diagnose and treatment are proposed, and the answers are generated based on the answer set program (ASP). For the transformation of natural language and ASP rules, large language model (LLM) technology is adopted to automatically identify question terms, generate ASP rules and process the generated answers. To verify the scheme’s ability to generate reliable answers, accuracy for problem classification and ASP rule generations are confirmed. The experimental results show that the scheme could provide the ability to solve medical problems based on the knowledge of clinical practice guidelines. © 2024 Copyright held by the owner/author(s).
