When data privacy is imposed as a necessity,Federated learning(FL)emerges as a relevant artificial intelligence field for developing machine learning(ML)models in a distributed and decentralized *** allows ML models to be trained on local devices without any need for centralized data transfer,thereby reducing both the exposure of sensitive data and the possibility of data interception by malicious third *** paradigm has gained momentum in the last few years,spurred by the plethora of real-world applications that have leveraged its ability to improve the efficiency of distributed learning and to accommodate numerous participants with their data *** virtue of FL,models can be learned from all such distributed data sources while preserving data *** aim of this paper is to provide a practical tutorial on FL,including a short methodology and a systematic analysis of existing software ***,our tutorial provides exemplary cases of study from three complementary perspectives:i)Foundations of FL,describing the main components of FL,from key elements to FL categories;ii)Implementation guidelines and exemplary cases of study,by systematically examining the functionalities provided by existing software frameworks for FL deployment,devising a methodology to design a FL scenario,and providing exemplary cases of study with source code for different ML approaches;and iii)Trends,shortly reviewing a non-exhaustive list of research directions that are under active investigation in the current FL *** ultimate purpose of this work is to establish itself as a referential work for researchers,developers,and data scientists willing to explore the capabilities of FL in practical applications.

Cricket fans throughout the world avidly follow the Indian Premier League (IPL), a competition of great fame. The IPL data is examined in this using Exploratory Data Analysis (EDA) approaches to find hidden trends, patterns, and insights. Key findings are summarized in EDA, a critical stage of data processing that is frequently complemented with visual aids. Through EDA, the goal is to investigate several factors, including team performance, player data, match results, and venue effects. Data transformation, cleaning, and visualization will all be part of producing insightful findings. Win percentages, player averages, and run distributions are examples of key performance indicators (KPIs) that will be looked at. The analysis's findings will give teams, athletes, and supporters important new information. © 2025 IEEE.

CDGNet: A Cross-Time Dynamic Graph-Based Deep Learning Model for Vehicle-Based Traffic Speed Forecasting

Vehicle-based traffic speed forecasting aims to predict the average speed of vehicles on the road in the future, which is an essential side information in intelligent vehicles and beneficial to safe autonomous driving, yet is very challenging due to the complex and dynamic spatio-temporal dependencies in real-world vehicle-based traffic. To extract intricate correlations among multiple vehicle-based speed time series, previous methods have used graph convolution networks. However, the conventional static and dynamic graphs fail to reflect the traffic evolution and the hysteresis spatial influence caused by vehicle movement. To address this issue, we propose a novel cross-time dynamic graph-based deep learning model, named CDGNet, for vehicle-based traffic speed forecasting. The model is able to effectively capture hysteresis spatial dependencies between each time slice and its historical time slices through the cross-time dynamic graph-based GCN. Meanwhile, a gating mechanism is integrated into our cross-time dynamic graph, which conforms to the sparse correlation in the real world. Besides, GCNs are incorporated into a novel encoder-decoder architecture to forecast multi-step speed. Experimental results on three real-world vehicle-based traffic speed datasets demonstrate the superiority of our CDGNet over various state-of-the-art spatio-temporal forecasting methods and the effectiveness of each component. We additionally provide a visualization of our cross-time dynamic graph to show the capability of assisting intelligent vehicles to avoid congestion. IEEE

The autonomous number plate detection system plays a crucial role in modern transportation, law enforcement, and security infrastructure. Technical approaches using artificial intelligence, machine learning, and computer vision are actively researched to achieve ease of maintenance through real-time vehicle detection. The recent development has drastically improved the accuracy of object detection and recognition systems in deep neural networks. Using these techniques, vehicle number plates can easily be detected autonomously for vehicle identification and tracking. Here, we have used a custom-trained TensorFlow-based number plate detection method to autonomously detect vehicles using images captured by a smartphone, or surveillance camera. It showed an impressive mAP @ 0.5 of 95%, and demonstrated limitations in long-distance detection, leading us to designate it as the optimal vehicle detection model for accuracy. We designed and developed an autonomous number plate detection system for vehicle identification and tracking, which includes web-based, android-based, and embedded-based applications. In addition, we evaluated the proposed autonomous number plate detection system with real-time images and videos. The proposed system achieved real-time vehicle detection and tracking, boasting a commendable 90% detection accuracy. © 2024 IEEE.

Piwi-interacting RNAs (piRNAs) function as critical regulators, safeguarding genome stability through mechanisms like transposable element repression and gene stability maintenance, while also being associated with various disease pathways. Developing computationally efficient methods to predict piRNA-disease associations is vital for enhancing disease-specific drug discovery while managing costs. In this study, we present CLPiDA, a novel method for predicting potential piRNA-disease associations. CLPiDA begins by computing gaussian kernel similarities for piRNA-piRNA and disease-disease pairs to establish initial embeddings for piRNAs and diseases. Subsequently, it employs a parameter-sharing online and target network, along with data augmentation techniques, to create a contrastive learning framework. This facilitates the generation of embeddings for piRNAs and diseases using piRNA-disease association pairs. Furthermore, CLPiDA employs a cross-prediction approach to determine association scores for specific piRNAs and diseases. Notably, CLPiDA introduces a novel approach by excluding negative samples, thereby avoiding the introduction of false negatives and enhancing its reliability. Comparative experiments validate CLPiDA's superiority in terms of performance over existing methods. Case studies underscore CLPiDA's efficacy as a valuable tool for predicting piRNA-disease associations, providing valuable insights for biological experiments. Traffic sign recognition is one of the most critical aspects of autonomous driving. To improve detection accuracy without increasing the number of model parameters too much, this paper uses Conditionally Parameterized Convolutions (condconv) to replace the convolutional blocks in Yolox-s. To understand the transfer of feature maps within the deep learning network, a gradient mapping using Gradient-weighted Class Activation Mapping (Grad-CAM) is used to generate a heat map. As the existing traffic sign dataset does not include data for glare situations, data augmentation was used to simulate traffic signs in a glare context. Experiments show that the proposed improvements can improve detection accuracy (+2.3%) with only a small increase in model parameters (+0.1 {M}). The effectiveness of the proposed data augmentation method is demonstrated by using the trained model for real-world detection. © 2023 IEEE.

Milling force prediction of titanium alloy plays an important role in titanium alloy milling process. In the article, the milling process of titanium alloy materials is analyzed, and this material quality is affected directly by the milling force. Support vector machine (SVM) has shown prominent performance for many real-world problems. However, SVM computational complexity increases, as the number of samples increases. How to effectively apply it to massive datasets is still a serious challenge. Although there are some literatures on parameter optimization techniques of SVM regression, the performance of this model still needs to be further studied and improved. We present a new milling force predicting model, namely ACO&SVM, which integrate SVM regression with ACO algorithm to enhance the prediction accuracy of milling force for mill process of titanium alloy. The primary innovation feature of hybrid model is to apply the ACO to automatically determine parameters of SVM regression model. In addition, as being applied to discrete optimization, to solve continuous optimization problems, ACO algorithm needs to transform continuous variables into discrete ones by discretizing of continuous variables. The results have shown that proposed ACO&SVM model yields better prediction accuracy, and thus it can be widely applied to the fields of material processing optimization. © 2021. In diagnosing challenging conditions such as Alzheimer's disease (AD), while imaging is an important reference, non-image data such as patient information, genetic data, medication information, cognitive and memory tests also play a very important role. However, limited by the ability of artificial intelligence models to mine such information, most of the existing models only use image data, and cannot make comprehensive use of non-image data. We based our approach on an existing pretrained large language model (LLM) to enhance the model's ability to utilize non-image data on diagnosing AD. Our test results on the ADNI dataset show that the approached achieved state-of-the-art (SOTA) performance. © 2023 IEEE.

Quantum Tomography partially measures and then recovers the remaining density matrix quantum state, in order to verify that a certain device – processor or detector – indeed outputs the intended quantum state. However, single matrix element measurements rapidly increase in number with the density matrix dimension and are error-prone. This work proposes a novel quantum software viewpoint on quantum tomography. Instead of individual matrix elements, measurements and density matrix recovery are performed on higher-abstraction modules, i.e. semantically meaningful groups of matrix elements. Quantum Modules Tomography potentially reduce the necessary number of explicit measurements, while still allowing recovery of the whole density matrix. A Recovery Theorem is formulated and proved: density matrix diagonal measurements suffice to recover the whole system density matrix, in terms of modules.
