He received the Dipl.-Ing. degree in electrical engineering from the Technische Hochschule Ilmenau in 1990 and the Ph.D. degree from the Technische Hochschule Darmstadt department of ‘Theory of Electromagnnetic Fields’ in 1994. His main research interest is electromagnetic field theory with emphasis on numerical modelling and simlation. Rolf Schuhmann was born in Osterburken Germany in 1968. He received the Dipl.-Ing. degree in electrical engineering from the Technische Hochschule Darmstadt in 1994. Theomas Weiland born in 1951 studied electrical engineering and mathematics at the Technische Hochschule armstadt. In 1977 he received his Ph.D. In his thesis he worked out a finite difference method in the frequency domain and applied it to lossfree and lossy waveguide mode computation which resulted in unique solutionsa priorifree of spurious modes. As fellow at the European Institute for Nuclear Research (CERN Switzerland) he continued his work on electromagnetic computing extending yee's algorithm to include fields of moving charges. At the Deutsches Elektronen Synchrotron DESY in Hamburg he founded in 1983 an international collaboration for three-dimensional electromagnetic simulation. The software paaackage called MAFIA which resulted from this collaboration has been in use since 1984 in 22 countries and was the first widely distributed 3-D code for radiofrequency field simulation. In 1984 he published a basic paper on the matrix formulation of Maxwells' equations and the uniqueness of numeical solutions. For his contributions to the field of scientific computing he received in 1986 the ‘Physics Prize’ of the German Physical Society and the ‘Prize for Achievements in Accelerator Physics and Technology’ of the US Particle Accelerator School and the ‘Leibniz Prize’ from the German Research Association in 1987. A typical application of numerical frequency-domain computations is the calculation of electromagnetic fields in cavities. Not only the field vectors of the desired modes, but also parameters such as the resonance frequency and, in the lossy case, the damping coefficient and the quality factor of the cavity can be obtained. This problem leads to an analytical eigenvalue equation, which can be transformed in an algebraic, complex, linear eigenvalue problem by the finite integration method. The consideration of energy losses in materials is straightforward in the analytical theory, using complex material quantities, but it is still a difficult subject area to solve a complex algebraic eigenvalue problem. Generally problems with very large, complex matrices (dimension >100,000) have to be solved, and no commonly applicable algorithm is known so far. This paper deals with a special variant of subspace iteration with polynomial acceleration, and some problems of the application of the complex Chebyshev polynomials are discussed. Two examples with weakly lossy cavities demonstrate the capability of the new algorithm, which is successfully applied to very large problems of up to 490,000 real unknowns.

Program slicing is a method of finding all statements that might directly or indirectly affect the values of variables. It is implemented by analysing the program's data flow and control flow. The concept was first proposed by Weiser [14,16] and since then its use has been suggested in many applications, such as debugging, testing and maintenance. Standard slicing techniques described in [16] have some problems when applied to the language C. For instance, how to find the correct slice in the presence of array and pointer variables and how to find break, continue and goto statements that have effects on the slice. In this paper such problems and their solutions are discussed. © 1991 IEEE.

Then, slicing problems and solutions are described. Edge intelligence (EI) integrates edge computing and artificial intelligence empowering service providers to deploy deep neural networks (DNNs) on edge servers in proximity to users to provision intelligent applications (e.g., autonomous driving) for ubiquitous Internet of Things (IoT) in smart cities, which facilitates the quality of experience (QoE) of users and improves the processing and energy efficiency. However, considering DNN is typically computational-intensive and resource-hungry, conventional placement approaches ignore the influence of multi-dimensional resource requirements (processor, memory, etc.), which may degrade the real-time performance. Moreover, with the increasing scale of geo-distributed edge servers, centralized decision-making is still challenging to find the optimal strategies effectively. To overcome these shortcomings, in this paper we propose a game theoretic DNN placement approach in EI-enabled IoT. First, a DNN placement optimization problem is formulated to maximize system benefits, which is proven to be \(\mathcal {N}\mathcal {P}\)-hard and model the original problem as an exact potential game (EPG). Moreover, an EPG-based DNN model placement algorithm, named EPOL, is designed for edge servers to make sub-optimal strategies independently and theoretical analysis is possessed to guarantee the performance of EPOL. Finally, real-world dataset based experimental results corroborate the superiority and effectiveness of EPOL.

We are pleased to present the proceedings of the workshops held in conjunction with ER 2005, the 24th International Conference on Conceptual Modeling. The objective of these workshops was to extend the spectrum of the main conferencebygivingparticipantsanopportunitytopresentanddiscussemerging hot topics related to conceptual modeling and to add new perspectives to this key mechanism for understanding and representing organizations, including the new “virtual” e-environments and the information systems that support them. To meet this objective, we selected 5 workshops: – AOIS 2005: 7th International Bi-conference Workshop on Agent-Oriented Information Systems – BP-UML 2005: 1st International Workshop on Best Practices of UML – CoMoGIS 2005: 2nd International Workshop on Conceptual Modeling for Geographic Information Systems – eCOMO 2005: 6th International Workshop on Conceptual Modeling - proaches for E-business – QoIS 2005: 1st International Workshop on Quality of Information Systems These 5 workshops attracted 18, 27, 31, 9, and 17 papers, respectively. F- lowing the ER workshopphilosophy, program committees selected contributions on the basis of strong peer reviews in order to maintain a high standard for accepted papers. The committees accepted 8, 9, 12, 4, and 7 papers, for acc- tance ratesof 44%,33%,39%,44%, and 41%,respectively. In total, 40 workshop papers were selected out of 102 submissions with a weighted averageacceptance rate of 40%.
