For extrusion of hollow profile with asymmetric cross-section, existing FEM software cannot simulate the influence of divergent and welding on the metal flowing behaviors, because it is inability to deal with meshes separation and penetration during welding. A mesh-reconstruction technology based on the reverse engineering is proposed in this paper, and extrusions of Al-alloy hollow profiles with various cross-sections are simulated. The results show that the mesh-reconstruction technology can solve the problem of simulation termination caused by the meshes separation and penetration during porthole die extrusion. It is effective to analyze the metal flowing behaviors, temperature distribution, hydrostatic stress in weld-chamber, and stress on dies, which provides a practicable way for die structure design and optimization of porthole extrusion as well as quality forecast of extrusion products.

Classical HVDC has shown its advanced features in long distance bulk power delivery, submarine cable crossings, and asynchronous interconnections. Therefore, the new generation of technology, embedded HVDC, is further broadening the range of applications of HVDC transmission. The embedded HVDC is beneficial to all traditional occupations. Meanwhile, perspective novel applications, which are involved in offshore transmissions, infeed large urban areas, DC segment grid, and weak AC system connections, come into service. The installation of the embedded HVDC systems on the existing AC power grid may largely improve the transient stability and power flow oscillation damping factor of power transmission system.

Tantalum nitride and tantalum carbide films were fabricated using magnetron sputtering of tantalum followed by nitrogen and carbon plasma-based ion implantation (N-PBII and C-PBII). The phase evolution and morphology of the films were studied using glancing angle X-ray diffraction (GXRD) and transmission electron microscopy (TEM). It was found that the main phase in the tantalum nitride films was crystalline TaNo.1 whose grain size increases with increasing implantation voltage and phase content increases with increasing implantation dose. In the tantalum carbide film, the main phase was Ta2C. TaC phase also appeared as the implantation dose increased. XRD results from various glancing angles show that the phases with high nitrogen or carbon content, Ta4N5 and TaC, are present in the surface of the films. X-ray photoelectron spectra (XPS) from the tantalum carbide film reveal that the surface carbon content is higher than that of the inner film.

The constant electric conductivity curves of solid solutions in the SrTiO3-La0.3Sr0.7TiO3- (La0.3Sr0.7)0.93TiO3 ternary system were obtained by estimating the electric conductivity of the solid solutions by a mass triangle model. Some typical compositions of the solid solutions were selected to verify the calculated results. The experimental values are consistent well with the predicted ones, demonstrating the feasibility of a mass triangle model in predicting the electric conductivity of mixed conductor.
