Facile synthesis of the Mn_(3)O_(4)polyhedron grown on N-doped honeycomb carbon as high-performance negative material for lithium-ion batteries

Because of their large volume variation and inferior electrical conductivity,Mn_(3)O_(4)-based oxide anode materials have short cyclic lives and poor rate capability,which obstructs their *** this study,we successfully prepared a Mn_(3)O_(4)/N-doped honeycomb carbon composite using a smart and facile synthetic *** Mn_(3)O_(4)nanopolyhedra are grown on N-doped honeycomb carbon,which evidently mitigates the volume change in the charging and discharging processes but also improves the electrochemical reaction *** importantly,the Mn-O-C bond in the Mn_(3)O_(4)/N-doped honeycomb carbon composite benefits electrochemical *** features of the Mn_(3)O_(4)/N-doped honeycomb carbon(NHC)composite are responsible for its superior electrochemical *** used for Li-ion batteries,the Mn_(3)O_(4)/N-doped honeycomb carbon anode exhibits a high reversible capacity of 598 mAh·g^(−1)after 350 cycles at 1 A·g^(−1).Even at 2 A·g^(−1),the Mn_(3)O_(4)/NHC anode still delivers a high capacity of 472 mAh·g^(−1).This work provides a new prospect for synthesizing and developing manganese-based oxide materials for energy storage.

Solid-state lithium batteries(SSLBs)are regarded as an essential growth path in energy storage systems due to their excellent safety and high energy *** particular,SSLBs using conversion-type cathode materials have received widespread attention because of their high theoretical energy densities,low cost,and *** the great progress in research and development of SSLBs based on conversiontype cathodes,their practical applications still face challenges such as blocked ionic-electronic migration pathways,huge volume change,interfacial incompatibility,and expensive processing *** review focuses on the advantages and critical issues of coupling conversion-type cathodes with solid-state electrolytes(SSEs),as well as state-of-the-art progress in various promising cathodes(e.g.,FeS_(2),CuS,FeF_(3),FeF_(2),and S)in ***,representative research on conversion-type solid-state full cells is discussed to offer enlightenment for their practical ***,the energy density exhibited by the S cathode stands out impressively,while sulfide SSEs and halide SSEs have demonstrated immense potential for coupling with conversion-type ***,perspectives on conversion-type cathodes are provided at the material,interface,composite electrode,and battery levels,with a view to accelerating the development of conversion-type cathodes for high-energy–density SSLBs.

Huazhong University of Science and technology is building a cyclotron-based Proton Therapy Facility (HUST-PTF). The facility mainly consists of a 240 MeV superconducting cyclotron, a beam transport line, a fixed treatment room and two rotational treatment rooms. HUST-PTF uses three kinds of detectors, Scintillation, Faraday cup and ionization chamber, for the beam parameter measurements. In terms of structure, the HUST PTF beam diagnostic system is built according to the standard distributed three-layer structure, which is divided into hardware device layer, data processing layer and GUI layer. Different protocols are used to communicate between the three layers, which can improve reliability and expand flexibly in each layer. © 2024 International Beam Instrumentation Conference. A Hybrid Compression Method for Compound Power Quality Disturbance Signals in Active Distribution Networks

In the compression of massive compound power quality disturbance(PQD) signals in active distribution networks, the compression ratio(CR) and reconstruction error(RE) act as a pair of contradictory indicators, and traditional compression algorithms have difficulties in simultaneously satisfying a high CR and low RE. To improve the CR and reduce the RE, a hybrid compression method that combines a strong tracking Kalman filter(STKF), sparse decomposition, Huffman coding, and run-length coding is proposed in this study. This study first uses a sparse decomposition algorithm based on a joint dictionary to separate the transient component(TC) and the steady-state component(SSC) in the PQD. The TC is then compressed by wavelet analysis and by Huffman and runlength coding algorithms. For the SSC, values that are greater than the threshold are reserved, and the compression is finally completed. In addition, the threshold of the wavelet depends on the fading factor of the STKF to obtain a high CR. Experimental results of real-life signals measured by fault recorders in a dynamic simulation laboratory show that the CR of the proposed method reaches as high as 50 and the RE is approximately 1.6%, which are better than those of competing methods. These results demonstrate the immunity of the proposed method to the interference of Gaussian noise and sampling frequency.

Revealing the size effect of Fe S2on solid-state battery performances at different operating temperatures

FeS_(2) shows significant potential as cathode material for all-solid-state lithium batteries(ASSLBs)due to its high theoretical specific capacity,low cost,and environmental ***,the poor ion/electron conductivity and large volume variation effect of FeS_(2) inhibit its practical ***,the influence of particle size of FeS_(2) on the corresponding sulfide-based solid-state batteries is carefully investigated by tuning FeS_(2) ***,low operating temperature is chosen to mitigate the large volume changes during cycling in the battery.S-FeS_(2) with smaller particle sizes delivers superior electrochemical performances than that of the larger L-FeS_(2) in Li_(5.5)PS_(4.5)Cl_(1.5)-based ASSLBs under different operating temperatures.S-FeS_(2) shows stable discharge capacities during 50 cycles with a current density of 0.1 m A/cm^(2)under -20℃.When the current density rises to 1.0 m A/cm^(2),it delivers an initial discharge capacity of 146.9 m Ah/g and maintains 63% of the capacity after 100 *** work contributes to constructing ASSLBs enables excellent electrochemical performances under extreme operating temperatures.

Supplementary Control for Mitigation of Successive Commutation Failures Considering the Influence of PLL Dynamics in LCC-HVDC Systems

Line commutated converter based high voltage direct current(LCC-HVDC)links are widely employed for long distance bulk power transmission and asynchronous alternating current(AC)grid ***,LCC-HVDC systems often suffer from commutation failures when AC voltage is distorted,oscillating or reduced by AC faults,which leads to overheating of converter valves and interruptions in transmitted *** of which can have an adverse impact on the safety and stability of the entire power *** paper proposes a supplementary control for mitigation of successive commutation failures on the basis of analyzing the influence of phase-locked loop(PLL)dynamics on the commutation *** analyzing the impact of PLL dynamics on the actual leading angle,it is found that changes in the AC voltage phase remarkably influence ***,the error between the AC voltage phase and PLL’s output angle is added to the output of the extinction angle or DC voltage control to mitigate the successive commutation failures of LCC-HVDC *** conducted on the CIGRE benchmark model in PSCAD/EMTDC validate the performance of the supplementary control,which effectively mitigates successive commutation failures.

Pursuing high-energy-density lithium metal batteries (LMBs) necessitates the advancement of electrolytes. Despite demonstrating high compatibility with lithium metal anodes (LMAs), ether-based electrolytes face challenges in achieving stable cycling at high voltages. Herein, we propose a strategy to enhance the high-voltage stability of medium-concentration (∼1 M) ether electrolytes by altering the reaction pathway of ether solvents. By employing a 1 M lithium difluoro(oxalato)borate in dimethoxyethane (LiDFOB/DME) electrolyte, we observed that LiDFOB displays a pronounced tendency for decomposition over DME, leading to a modification in the decomposition pathway of DME. This modification facilitates the formation of a stable organic–inorganic hybrid interface. Utilizing such an electrolyte, the Li-LCO cell demonstrates a discharge specific capacity of 146 mAh g–1(5 C) and maintains retention of 86% over 1000 cycles at 2 C under a 4.5 V cutoff voltage. Additionally, the optimized ether electrolyte demonstrated outstanding cycling performance in Li-LCO full cells under practical conditions.

Analytical analysis of hollow CORC cable under thermo-mechanical loads

According to engineering experience,the axial shrinkage caused by the refrigerant seriously endangers the performance of long‐distance conductor on round core(CORC)*** outage maintenance of high‐temperature superconducting(HTS)cables is inevitable,providing appropriate compensation for cyclic temperature is one of the key technologies in the actual application of power ***,this paper presents an analytical solution for hollow CORC cables under thermo‐mechanical ***,regarded as an axisymmetric composite structure,the radial temperature distribution of CORC cable under Dirichlet boundary or mixed boundary conditions was ***,assuming cable ends were axially fixed,a recursive method without variables is used to evaluate its displacement,strains,and ***,an algebraic method with axial strain as a variable is developed to analyze the mechanical behavior of the CORC cable more ***,concluded from the above derivation,a matrix equation is constructed based on continuity equations and boundary conditions,which applies to isotropic and orthotropic materials with *** results show that the analytical solution agrees with finite element method(FEM)*** to the trial results of a 360 m CORC cable,the calculation error of axial shrinkage is within 1.63 cm,and the relative error is within 6.1%.In addition,the recursive method is the fastest to calculate axial strain,while the matrix method has a significant efficiency advantage in calculating the stresses and strains of each layer.

Grid-forming converters (GFMs) are regarded as a solution to enhancing the frequency support ability of the power grid. Applying the virtual synchronous generator (VSG) technology, GFM mimics the swing function of synchronous generators (SGs). It is found in this paper, however, that the inertia provision of VSG-based grid-forming doubly-fed induction generator (VSG-DFIG) is limited. The root cause is analyzed, indicating that the resistive-inductive internal impedance is not beneficial to providing power support under unbalanced active power disturbances. To address this issue, the terminal voltage controller (TVC) is modified by adding a virtual impedance control, rather than applying supplementary controllers on the active power control sections. The virtual impedance control optimizes the characteristic of the equivalent inertia of the DFIG and strengthens the inertial response. Finally, preliminary simulation results are presented to verify the feasibility of the proposed control strategy. © 2024 IEEE.
