To ensure continuity and security in production processes, a redundancy structure involving multiple units for use and multiple units for standby (MUMS) is typically used. This paper proposes an offline state maintenance decision model for periodic switching and block replacement within the MUMS cold standby system. The concept of maintenance degree is introduced, and a model is established to represent the relationship among the maintenance effect, cost, and time, under the influence of the maintenance degree. By analyzing the alternate state transition characteristics of operating and standby units in the operation process, a steady probability model of the system state is obtained. Subsequently, a model for average rate costs in a limited scope is constructed to determine the optimal system switching period, preventive maintenance threshold, and maintenance degree. The model is validated using a hot roll system. The results show that the proposed framework can effectively reduce the cost rate and ensure system reliability.

Deep reinforcement learning (DRL) techniques give robotics research an AI boost in many applications. In order to simultaneously accommodate the complex robotic behaviour simulation and DRL algorithm verification, a new simulation platform, namely the RobotDrlSim, is proposed. First, we design a standardized API interfacing mechanism for coordinating diverse environments on RobotDrlSim platform, where PyBullet simulator is equipped with an API to form a physical engine for robotics simulation. Second, benchmark DRL models are included in the baseline library for evaluation. Third, real-Time human-robot interactions can be captured and imported to drive the RobotDrlSim tasks, which provide big data-stream for reinforcement learning. Experimentations show that cutting-edge DRL algorithms developed in python can be seamlessly deployed to the robots, and human interactions can be availed in training the robots. RobotDrlSim is valid for efficiently developing DRL algorithms for artificial intelligence models of robots, and it is especially suitable for the robot educational purposes. © Published under licence by IOP Publishing Ltd.

In this paper, we propose a positioning algorithm based on sonar images, which is mainly used for the positioning of underwater robots, so that the robots can obtain the position information in real time when operating underwater and avoid colliding with the underwater walls. First, the underwater space was detected with multibeam sonar, and the sonar images of the underwater space wall were found to have line segment characteristics;Composite denoising, threshold segmentation and Canny edge detection are applied to the sonar image to extract the contours of the underwater spatial wall. Then the characteristic line segments of the underwater spatial wall are detected based on the LSD (Line Segment Detector) line segment detection algorithm. In terms of line segment classification, a method is proposed to effectively classify line segments using the origin of the sonar image and the slope of the detected line segment. To further demonstrate the effectiveness of the localization algorithm in this paper, the specific steps of the algorithm are illustrated with the example of underwater rectangular space. © 2022 IEEE.

The condition of the rotor system remains difficult to assess due to system nonlinearity and nosiy measurements. To deal with the problem, we proposed a hierarchical physics-informed neural network (HPINN) to discover the ordinary differential equation (ODE) of a healthy/faulty rotor system from noise measurements and then assess the machine condition based on the discovered ODE. Specifically, the ODE of a healthy rotor system is first stably identified from noise measurement through HPINN guided by rotor dynamics. Based on the identified healthy ODE, the extra fault terms in the ODE of the faulty rotor system are then sparsely regressed from the predefined library embedded in HPINN. Moreover, with the mathematical terms of discovered fault, the potential fault and the health indicator (HI) are diagnosed and constructed to assess the condition of the rotor system, respectively. Finally, the effectiveness of the proposed method is verified by the data set collected on the circulating water test bench, showing the potential for practical applications.

This paper explores distributed aggregative games in multi-agent systems. Current methods for finding distributed Nash equilibrium require players to send original messages to their neighbors, leading to communication burden and privacy issues. To jointly address these issues, we propose an algorithm that uses stochastic compression to save communication resources and conceal information through random errors induced by compression. Our theoretical analysis shows that the algorithm guarantees convergence accuracy, even with aggressive compression errors used to protect privacy. We prove that the algorithm achieves differential privacy through a stochastic quantization scheme. Simulation results for energy consumption games support the effectiveness of our approach. © 2024, CC BY.

Cell-free massive multiple-input multiple-output (mMIMO) and extremely large-scale MIMO (XL-MIMO) are regarded as promising innovations for the forthcoming generation of wireless communication systems. Their significant advantages in augmenting the number of degrees of freedom have garnered considerable interest. In this article, we first review the essential opportunities and challenges induced by XL-MIMO systems. We then propose the enhanced paradigm of cell-free XL-MIMO, which incorporates multi-agent reinforcement learning (MARL) to provide a distributed strategy for tackling the problem of high-dimension signal processing and costly energy consumption. Based on the unique near-field characteristics in XL-MIMO systems, we propose two categories of the low-complexity algorithm design, i.e., antenna selection and power control, to adapt to different cell-free XL-MIMO scenarios and meet the increasing data rate requirement. With the rapid advancement and application of the Internet of Medical Things (IoMT), personal health records (PHRs) are now increasingly comprised of data collected by Internet of Things (IoT) devices and medical records documented by healthcare professionals. Personal health record (PHR) sharing demonstrates great potential in improving the accuracy of disease diagnosis. However, PHR sharing also brings risks such as illegal access and personal information leakage. Some works explored using blockchain or attribute-based encryption (ABE) to solve these privacy leakage problems, but those solutions did not pay attention to the user’s attribute privacy. In this work, we combine a linear secret sharing scheme (LSSS) and zero-knowledge succinct non-interactive argument of knowledge (zkSNARK) scheme to design an efficient zero-knowledge proof protocol called zk-AHSNARK. It can verify the user’s attribute permissions while also hiding attribute information. Based on zk-AHSNARK, we propose a novel PHR sharing scheme that protects attribute privacy. Data security is ensured by storing encrypted data in the interplanetary file system (IPFS). In addition, we introduce keyword ciphertext search to achieve fast data retrieval, and we implement the search and verification algorithms via a smart contract, ensuring the trustworthiness and integrity of the execution. Finally, through a large number of simulations, we demonstrated the suggested scheme’s viability and security.

Classroom scheduling is vital but difficult for educational institutions, especially those with large student populations and diverse needs. Traditional methods using outdated software or manual processes often cause inefficiencies, disagreements, and administrative workload. In low-resource regions without access to cutting-edge technology and infrastructure, these issues are severe. This paper introduces Android-based SmartClass Mobile to transform classroom scheduling. The program's SOA-based functionality offers flexibility, adaptability, and integration with institution-specific procedures. The Heuristic algorithm and Solution Space Navigation (SSN) tackle scheduling problems such as room availability, multimedia needs, and seating capacities. SSN dynamically resolves conflicts by exploring alternate configurations, while the Heuristic Algorithm assigns time slots and classrooms depending on availability and priority. SmartClass Mobile analysis indicates benefits. The solution reduces conflicts, increases user satisfaction, and decreases scheduling time by 50% compared to manual methods with 85% test user approval. Due to its mobile-first approach, the initiative is open to urban and rural institutions. Dependence on internet access for some functions is a downside, especially in resource-constrained contexts. The findings suggest that SmartClass Mobile provides a scalable, effective, and simple classroom scheduling solution. Mobile technology, advanced algorithms, and SOA concepts make it valuable for school administrators. Additions like AI and machine learning will boost its potential.

In this paper we present a dynamic entropy generator based on the oscillator jitter, which uses a self-biasing technique to minimize process, voltage, and temperature (PVT) variations. The proposed circuit has the advantage of its intrinsic robustness due to self-biasing design, which eliminates the need of additional calibration steps and simplifies the circuit topology, with a negligible impact in area and power consumption. A frequency deviation below 15 % and a maximum jitter difference of 32 % under PVT variations, is obtained, in a 28 nm CMOS technology circuit prototype. For validation of the proposed circuit technique the IC prototype is compared with a standard ring oscillator and with traditional calibration techniques.
