Moving object segmentation in the compressed domain plays an important role in many real-time applications, e.g. video indexing, video surveillance, etc. H.264/AVC is the up-to-date video coding standard, which employs several new coding tools and provides a different video format. In this paper, a robust spatio-temporal segmentation approach to extract moving objects in the compressed domain for H.264 video stream is proposed. Coarse moving objects are firstly extracted from the motion vector field through the MRF classification process. Spatial segmentation is based on the HT coefficient, which is used to refine the object boundary of temporal segmentation results. Fusion of spatio-temporal segmentation is based on region projection based labeling technique. Further edge refinement is performed to smooth the object boundaries. The performance of the proposed approach is illustrated by simulation carried on several test sequences. Experimental results show that the proposed approach can provide the visually similar results as by using spatial domain process with much less computational complexity.

We have developed scanning laser range sensor called "SOKUIKI" sensor which is ultra-small scanning laser range sensor adopted for various types of mobile robots as we have already published. As a sensor for environment recognition, we thought the sensor must have not only outputting distance data but also another helpful function for mobile robots. So it was considered that what kind of advanced functions should be provided to SOKUIKI sensor. As a result two most important purposes were acquired. 1. Variation on its distance data and method to get the data. 2. The function for prevention of optical interference between sensors. This paper proposes a framework for patient's vital sign representations. This framework offers the flexibility to extend or to augment represented vital signs, e.g. with trend signs or professional's annotations. It further enables multi standard representations of vital signs and meta-level information for processing of represented vital signs. Vital signs represented in accordance with this framework are therefore suitable for forwarding, processing and rendering within a heterogeneous mobile environment which applies different formatting standards or use a diversity of wireless communication technologies of different quality. We analyze the needs of three mobile healthcare stakeholders to capture the requirements of vital sign representations and manipulations that have to be accommodated by the framework. The individual of population in standard self-adaptive evolutionary programming (EP) is composed as a pair of objective variable and strategy parameter. Therefore, EP must evolve both objective variable and strategy parameter. In standard evolutionary programming (CEP), these evolutions are implemented by mutation based on only Gaussian random number. On the other hand, fast evolutionary programming (FEP) uses Cauchy random number as evolution of objective variable and exponential evolutionary programming (EEP) uses exponential random number as evolution of objective variable. However, all of these EP (CEP, FEP and EEP) commonly uses Gaussian random number as evolution of strategy parameter. In this paper, we propose new EEP algorithm (NEP) which uses double exponential random number for both evolution of objective variable and strategy parameter. The experimental results show that this new algorithm (NEP) outperforms the existing CEP and FEP.

In view of the limitation of existing Neural Network model in solving time series forecasting problem, put forward a new Multi-Rule & Real-Time Training Neural Network (MRRTTNN) model. The characteristics of this proposed model including (1) miniaturize the forecasting network, (2)train the network in real-time way, (3) adopt the average of abundant forecasting and (4) add some rules to assistant forecasting. Relative to the traditional Neural Network model,this model focus on dynamic training and dynamic forecasting, increase three rules (rule of dealing with abnormity, rule of retraining and rule of adopting the average) to assistant forecasting. Numerical example suggests the correctness and feasibility of this model. The contradistinctive result of this model and other five models indicates the validity and superiority of this model.

An 8×8 carbon nanotube (CNT) sensor array integrated on top of the CMOS chip is proposed. After the chip is fabricated in standard CMOS process, the CNTs network is formed on top of each sensor cell site of the fabricated chip. When the resistance of the CNT is changed by the chemical reaction, the sensing circuit in the chip measures the charging time of the RC (CNT-Resistor & Capacitor). Finally the information of measured time is converted to a digital code. The CMOS chip was fabricated by Dongbu 0.1 Sum technology and the size of the 8×8 sensor array is 2 mm*2mm. From the electrochemical experiments, the test chip shows the feasibility of sensor for the simultaneous detection of the various chemical reactions.
