This paper presents a complete design methodology for the sensorless vector control of permanent magnet synchronous machine (PMSM) motor drives in fan-type applications. The proposed strategy is built over a linear asymptotic state observer used to estimate the PMSM back-EMF, and a novel tracking controller based on a phase-locked loop (PLL) system, which by synchronizing the estimated and actual d-q frames estimates the rotor speed and position. The paper presents the complete derivation of all associated control-loops, namely state observer, tracking controller, d-q axes current regulator, speed controller, an anti-saturation control loop - which provides inherent operation in the flux-weakening region, and all corresponding anti-windup loops. Detailed design rules are provided for each of these loops, respectively verified through time-domain simulations, frequency-response analysis, and experimental results using a 300 Vdc 3.5 kW PMSM PWM motor-drive, validating both the design methodology and the excellent performance attained by the proposed control strategy

There are lots of attempts in automotive field to supersede mechanical parts with electrical ones owing to increasing needs of drivers' safety, comfort and convenience as well as recent tightened environmental regulation. In addition, continuous improvements of semiconductor technology make it speed up to use electric components instead of conventional mechanical and hydraulic ones. In accordance with these tendencies, the demand of electric power and energy used in vehicle has been increasing steadily, and it will cause overburden of conventional 14 V power generation and distribution system. A research on higher voltage system started in early 1990s and 42 V power system has been introduced for a future automotive power-net. The one dimensional inverse heat conduction problems of the composite materials with the unknown boundary conditions are discussed. Base on the boundary temperature measurement, the system's unknown boundary conditions such as the time varying heat flux or heat transfer coefficient can be estimated by input estimation (IE) approach inversely and the transient response of the temperature of the composite materials is calculated at the same time. The IE includes Kalman filter (KF) and weighted recursive least-square estimator (WRLSE). The unknown boundary conditions are regarded as the unknown inputs. Kalman filter (KF) is linear recursive least square error covariance estimation and its purpose is to generate the recursive innovation sequence. Because this sequence contains bias or systematic errors caused by implicit unknown time-variant inputs and random errors from the measurement data. WRLSE is used to identify the unknown inputs. The methodology for estimating the time varying unknown heat flux, heat transfer coefficient and temperature distribution of the composite materials is also presented in this work. The simulation results show that the proposed algorithm can accurately estimate the unknown heat flux, heat transfer coefficient and the temperature transient response of the composite materials.

Tianwang for the first time participated in all three tasks of the Terabyte Track of TREC 2005 to explore its performance. All three tasks, including the adhoc task (find all the relevant documents with high precision), the efficiency task (find top- 20 results for each of 50k-entry queries with efficiency and scalability) and the named page finding task (sometimes search a page by name), are based on a 426GB collection of 25.2 million pages taken from the .gov Web domain ("GOV2"). In the adhoc task with 50 topics, Tianwang returned at least one relevant document in top 10 for 42 topics. In the efficiency task, Tianwang returned at least one relevant document in top 20 for 44 of the 50 quires. In the named page task with 252 topics, Tianwang returned a desired page in top 10 for 99 topics;meanwhile, it failed to find a correct one for 120 topics.

However, previous performance analyses have assumed perfect uplink synchronization among main paths, which is impractical due to timing misalignment. Accordingly, this Letter evaluates the impact of imperfect synchronization on the performance of an uplink synchronized DS-CDMA system by deriving an orthogonality factor as a measure of the imperfection in synchronization.
