This paper introduces a novel edge device architecture designed to optimize solar energy management systems. It integrates cutting-edge functionalities such as generation prediction, maintenance alerts, and anomaly detection into a unified framework. Through the utilization of edge computing, the system enables real-time analysis and decision-making at the network’s edge. Leveraging machine learning algorithms and predictive models, these edge devices provide highly accurate energy generation forecasts, facilitating efficient energy utilization and strategic planning. Additionally, the architecture incorporates anomaly detection techniques to proactively identify deviations from normal operation, minimizing downtime and enabling timely maintenance interventions. The seamless integration of these features within the edge devices significantly enhances the overall efficiency, reliability, and performance of energy monitoring systems. This article introduces a novel method for predicting solar energy production using an affordable data logger and the Artificial Neural Network (ANN) algorithm. The main goal of this research is to create a precise predictive model for solar energy output, addressing the critical need for accurate forecasting in the renewable energy industry. The study capitalizes on the accessibility and cost-efficiency of a low-cost data logger to collect detailed environmental and solar irradiance data. The ANN algorithm is utilized to analyze the collected dataset, providing a robust and effective approach for forecasting solar energy production. Extensive experiments demonstrate that the developed model achieves an impressive R2 score of 0.95, indicating a high degree of accuracy and reliability in predicting solar energy output. This significant R2 score highlights the proposed methodology’s effectiveness, demonstrating its potential for practical applications in solar energy planning and management. © The Author(s), under exclusive license to Springer Nature Switzerland AG 2025.

Accurate soil moisture(SM)prediction is critical for understanding hydrological ***-based(PB)models exhibit large uncertainties in SM predictions arising from uncertain parameterizations and insufficient representation of land-surface *** addition to PB models,deep learning(DL)models have been widely used in SM predictions ***,few pure DL models have notably high success rates due to lacking physical ***,we developed hybrid models to effectively integrate the outputs of PB models into DL models to improve SM *** this end,we first developed a hybrid model based on the attention mechanism to take advantage of PB models at each forecast time scale(attention model).We further built an ensemble model that combined the advantages of different hybrid schemes(ensemble model).We utilized SM forecasts from the Global Forecast system to enhance the convolutional long short-term memory(ConvLSTM)model for 1–16 days of SM *** performances of the proposed hybrid models were investigated and compared with two existing hybrid *** results showed that the attention model could leverage benefits of PB models and achieved the best predictability of drought events among the different hybrid ***,the ensemble model performed best among all hybrid models at all forecast time scales and different soil *** is highlighted that the ensemble model outperformed the pure DL model over 79.5%of in situ stations for 16-day *** findings suggest that our proposed hybrid models can adequately exploit the benefits of PB model outputs to aid DL models in making SM predictions.

With the popularity of the service-oriented development paradigm in the cloud era, numerous cloud APIs have been developed. The continuous proliferation of cloud APIs has submerged developers in a sea of options, bringing the need for cloud API recommendation techniques. Most existing cloud API recommendation methods focus on theoretical studies and neglect practical applications. As a result, these methods face several challenges, such as covering recommendation scenarios, generating real-time responses, and handling concurrent requests. In this paper, we propose and implement a practical cloud API complementary recommendation service for mashup creation. To address the above challenges, we first propose a cloud API complementary recommendation framework named FICR, which exploits feature interactions to mine implicit complementarity and models complementarity from the mashup side and the target cloud API side for scenario coverage. Then, we conduct performance optimization via precoding and batch size tuning to optimize FICR for real-time responses. Finally, we design a minimum-connection load balancing algorithm with resource early warning and build a distributed system for concurrent requests. Experiments conducted on real-world datasets show that FICR outperforms state-of-the-art baseline models in complementary recommendation scenarios, and demonstrate that the implemented service meets the real-time and concurrency requirements. The service will serve as a practical tool to help developers during mashup creation.

It is well-established that terrestrial communication systems may fail during emergencies such as earthquakes, tsunamis, and floods. Fortunately, with the rapid advancement of unmanned aerial vehicle (UAV) network technology, deploying UAV nodes as aerial base stations (BSs) is assuming an increasingly crucial role in facilitating downlink transmissions and restoring ground communication capabilities. However, a single UAV node is not sufficient to meet the requirements. Inspired by distributed communication, we introduce a performance analysis framework based on stochastic geometry to analyze the distributed coordinated multi-point (CoMP) UAV-assisted communication network. Specifically, we assume that all UAV nodes follow a homogeneous Poisson point process (PPP) and maintain a constant altitude. The entire space is tessellated by multiple hexagons, with multiple UAV nodes within each hexagonal region working together to serve terrestrial user equipments (UEs). For this region-centric cooperative model, we derive an exact expression for the coverage probability to quantify the performance improvement enabled by UAVs, analyze the upper bound of the coverage probability, and provide a simplified approximation. We then compare this model to a user-centric model. Our numerical findings demonstrate that the cooperation of UAV nodes can significantly enhance the coverage probability and save spectrum resources.

Globally, biomass usage as a supply of non-depletable resources materials used in the production of energy at their rawest state is an issue. Pyrolysis is a method of thermally treating biomass that as a consequence in the formation of liquid, products, both solid and gaseous. Elevated heating is required to transform the complicated composition of the biomass's underlying structure matrix into usable products. Heating with a microwave oven has the potential to become a competitive option. to more traditional methods of heating. Owing to its ease of operation and rapid heating rate, it has recently been widely employed in pyrolysis. The goals of this research are to found the principles of MW-assisted pyrolysis action and to examine some critical issues characteristics of operation that have an influence on the yield of a product. This procedure appears to be governed by a number of operational factors for instance, microwave power and temperature degree, the addition of microwave absorbers and their concentration, initial relative humidity, primary sweep gas flow rate/time spent in residence. © Published under licence by IOP Publishing Ltd.

Efficient Federated Recommender system with Adaptive Model Pruning and Momentum-based Batch Adjustment

With the development of 5G communication and smart devices, the prosperity of online content has boosted Recommender system (RS) research. Due to the data scarcity problem, researchers employ knowledge transfer techniques to improve the accuracy of RS. Data sharing or data augmentation are promising methods for such a problem, but the data suffers from privacy leakage during sharing. Thus, federated learning has been adopted to collaboratively train recommender models while preserving data privacy. Federated Recommender system (FRS) combines federated learning and RS to provide distributed recommendation services to the users. However, the existing FRS suffers from massive communication and system heterogeneity, where the necessity of model transmission and the diversity of the clients bring significant communication overhead to the system. In this article, we propose Efficient Federated Recommender system with Adaptive Model Pruning and Momentum-based Batch Adjustment (\(eFRSA^{2}\)) to reduce the communication overhead of FRS. \(eFRSA^{2}\) contains two modules. Adaptive Model Pruning utilizes magnitude pruning to reduce the communication volume and adaptively modifies the compression ratios of different clients to maintain the model accuracy. Momentum-based Batch Adjustment adjusts the local training batch number by a similar method of gradient descent with momentum to align the local computation time of the clients and reduce the communication overhead. The experimental results demonstrate that \(eFRSA^{2}\) can reduce up to 90% communication volume and mitigate the system heterogeneity by over 75%, demonstrating the priority of \(eFRSA^{2}\) in training efficiency. Identifying vulnerabilities in binary code with precision is a critical area of study in the field of software security. Most existing techniques fail to pinpoint the vulnerability's exact location, due to the extensive labelled data requirement and lack of targeted approach to improve on the problematic code. In this paper, we introduce VulPin, a system specifically designed to pinpoint vulnerabilities in binary code. This framework uses a hierarchical attention network that analyze program slices along with a vulnerability position matrix. Experimental outcomes indicate that our framework not only outperforms existing approaches but also pinpoints vulnerabilities more rapidly with a high Accuracy and a very low rate of false positives. © 2023 ACM.

Every patient has health record, it was written as statement of patient's conditions, treatments, and medications, and nowadays it is become digitalized, it can be copied and shared easily, but the nature of EHR is private, not for public, private between patients and healthcare provider. Privacy preserving can be done by implementing Blockchain network for storing EHR, only authorized users or nodes can access and write data to the network. New block in blockchain created as per consensus among nodes, every node can join a blockchain network if it is public, to meet a consensus required resources intensive cryptographic challenge, in private blockchain, only selected can join and involved in the network or specific transaction. In healthcare, data privacy is the main concerned, need a secure, scalable, and efficient blockchain hence implementing consortium blockchain is perfect match for EHR where multiple healthcare provider can operate in a single platform to conduct transaction or sharing EHR among members. This study analyzes 15 articles derived from IEEE Explore, science Direct and Scopus by implementing screening with keyword Consortium Blockchain and EHR and proposing new blockchain model accommodating solution for challenges on access, storage, sharing, privacy, and performance. © 2022 IEEE.
