The min-max vehicle routing problem (min-max VRP) traverses all given customers by assigning several routes and aims to minimize the length of the longest route. Recently, reinforcement learning (RL)-based sequential planning methods have exhibited advantages in solving efficiency and optimality. However, these methods fail to exploit the problem-specific properties in learning representations, resulting in less effective features for decoding optimal routes. This paper considers the sequential planning process of min-max VRPs as two coupled optimization tasks: customer partition for different routes and customer navigation in each route (i.e., partition and navigation). To effectively process min-max VRP instances, we present a novel attention-based Partition-and-Navigation encoder (P&N Encoder) that learns distinct embeddings for partition and navigation. Furthermore, we utilize an inherent symmetry in decoding routes and develop an effective agent-permutation-symmetric (APS) loss function. Experimental results demonstrate that the proposed Decoupling-Partition-Navigation (DPN) method significantly surpasses existing learning-based methods in both single-depot and multi-depot minmax VRPs. Logic diagnosis is a key step in yield learning. Multiple faults diagnosis is challenging because of several reasons, including error masking, fault reinforcement, and huge search space for possible fault combinations. This work proposes a two-phase method for multiple-fault diagnosis. The first phase efficiently reduces the potential number of fault candidates through machine learning. The second phase obtains the final diagnosis results, by formulating the task as an combinational optimization problem that is later iteratively solved using binary evolution computation. Experiments shows that our method outperforms two existing methods for multiple-fault diagnosis, and achieves better diagnosability (improved by $1.87\times$ ) and resolution (improved by $1.42\times$ ) compared with a state-of-the-art commercial diagnosis tool.

This article proposes a new multi-level inverter (MLI) based on flying capacitor inverter (FCI), with focused on high-precision positioning control for a voice coil motor (VCM). Multi-level inverters (MLIs) have the characteristic that increasing the number of output voltage levels reduces the output voltage error. However, as the number of levels increases, the number of circuit elements increases, and the circuit becomes more complex. In addition, the output voltage amplitude for each level is constant in conventional inverters. As a result, such as high-precision positioning control of VCM, designing an appropriate inverter for a reference wave that contains a large amount of low-voltage components increases the number of circuit elements. Therefore, this paper proposes a MLI with two unbalanced dc-input voltages, referred to as unbalanced MLIs (UMLIs) hereinafter. This topology uses two different dc-input voltages, and it is possible to reduce the output voltage level in extremely low-voltage range compared to other voltage levels. Simulation results when the high-precision positioning control of the VCM confirm that the proposed UMLIs improves the control performance compared to the conventional FCIs with equal number of output voltage levels and uniform level widths.

A Transverse-Read-assisted Fast Valid-Bits Collection in Stochastic Computing MACs for Energy-Efficient in-RTM DNNs

It looks very attractive to coordinate racetrack-memory (RM) and stochastic-computing (SC) jointly to build an ultra-low power neuron-architecture. However, the above combination has always been questioned in a fatal weakness that the heavy valid-bits collection of RM-MTJ, a.k.a. accumulative parallel counters (APCs), cannot physically match the requirement for energy-efficient in-memory DNNs. Fortunately, a recently developed Transverse-Read (TR) provides a lightweight collection of valid-bits by detecting domain-wall resistance between a couple of MTJs on a single nanowire. In this work, we first propose a neuron-architecture that utilizes parallel TRs to build an ultra-fast valid-bits collection for SC, in which, a vector multiplication is successfully degraded as swift TRs. To solve huge storage for full stochastic sequences caused by the limited TR banks, a hybrid coding, pseudo-fractal compression, is designed to generate stochastic sequences by segments. To overcome the misalignment by the parallel early-termination, an asynchronous schedule of TR is further designed to regularize the vectorization, in which, the valid-bits from different lanes are merged in multiple RM-stacks for vector-level valid-bits collection. However, an inherent defect of TR, i.e., neighbor parts cannot be accessed simultaneously, could limit the throughput of the parallel vector multiplication, therefore, an interleaving data placement is used for full utilization of memory bus among different vectors. The results show that the SC-MAC assisted with TR achieves 2.88 × −4.40×speedup compared to CORUSCANT, at the same time, energy consumption is reduced by 1.26 × −1.42×. Copyright © 2024, The Authors. Streaming graph processing needs to timely evaluate continuous queries. Prior systems suffer from massive redundant computations due to the irregular order of processing vertices influenced by updates. To address this issue, we propose ACGraph, a novel streaming graph processing approach for monotonic graph algorithms. It maintains dependence trees during runtime, and makes affected vertices processed in a top-to-bottom order in the hierarchy of the dependence trees, thus normalizing the state propagation order and coalescing of multiple propagation to the same vertices. Experimental results show that ACGraph reduces the number of updates by 50% on average, and achieves the speedup of 1.75~7.43× over state-of-the-art systems.

The 3D generative adversarial network (GAN) inversion converts an image into 3D representation to attain high-fidelity reconstruction and facilitate realistic image manipulation within the 3D latent space. However, previous approaches face challenges regarding the trade-off between the reconstruction ability and editability. That is, reversing a real-world image to a low-dimensional latent code would inevitably lead to information loss, and achieving a near-perfect reconstruction using high-rate triplane representation often limits the ability to manipulate the image freely in the latent space. To address these issues, we propose a novel latent conditioning encoder-based framework with the alignment between the low-dimensional latent and high-dimensional triplane. A non-semantic guided editing strategy bridges the intrinsic relation between the latent condition and triplane generation, making it possible to edit the high-dimensional representation by latent manipulation. As a result, our method can achieve high-fidelity reconstruction and editing simultaneously by directly controlling the latent code. Experimental results demonstrate that our approach excels in reconstruction and editing quality compared to previous 3D inversion methods. Furthermore, our method can also edit even real faces with large poses and out-of-domain cases.

Dockformer: A transformer-based molecular docking paradigm for large-scale virtual screening

Molecular docking is a crucial step in drug development, which enables the virtual screening of compound libraries to identify potential ligands that target proteins of interest. However, the computational complexity of traditional docking models increases as the size of the compound library increases. Recently, deep learning algorithms can provide data-driven research and development models to increase the speed of the docking process. Unfortunately, few models can achieve superior screening performance compared to that of traditional models. Therefore, a novel deep learning-based docking approach named Dockformer is introduced in this study. Dockformer leverages multimodal information to capture the geometric topology and structural knowledge of molecules and can directly generate binding conformations with the corresponding confidence measures in an end-to-end manner. The experimental results show that Dockformer achieves success rates of 90.53% and 82.71% on the PDBbind core set and PoseBusters benchmarks, respectively, and more than a 100-fold increase in the inference process speed, outperforming almost all state-of-the-art docking methods. In addition, the ability of Dockformer to identify the main protease inhibitors of coronaviruses is demonstrated in a real-world virtual screening scenario. Considering its high docking accuracy and screening efficiency, Dockformer can be regarded as a powerful and robust tool in the field of drug design. © 2024, CC BY-NC-ND.

Fingerprint authentication has been extensively employed in contemporary identity verification systems owing to its rapidity and cost-effectiveness. Due to its widespread use, fingerprint leakage may cause sensitive information theft, enormous economic and personnel losses, and even a potential compromise of national security. As a fingerprint that can coincidentally match a specific proportion of the overall fingerprint population, MasterPrint rings the alarm bells for the security of fingerprint authentication. In this paper, we propose a new side-channel attack on the minutiae-based Automatic Fingerprint Identification system (AFIS), called PrintListener, which leverages users’ fingertip swiping actions on the screen to extract fingerprint pattern features (the first-level features) and synthesizes a stronger targeted PatternMasterPrint with potential second-level features. The attack scenario of PrintListener is extensive and covert. It only needs to record users’ fingertip friction sound and can be launched by leveraging a large number of social media platforms. Extensive experimental results in real-world scenarios show that Printlistener can significantly improve the attack potency of MasterPrint. © 2024, CC0.

In the field of intelligent recruitment, automated resume matching and non-contact interviews have significantly improved the efficiency of companies in finding suitable candidates. This corresponds to the techniques of person-job matching and AI interviews. However, current person-job matching methods lack substantial data support, while AI interview methods struggle to integrate deep information from multimodal data and provide comprehensive evaluations of candidates’ responses. To address these challenges, we propose a multimodal data-driven person-job evaluation model, comprising two key stages: a person-job matching method based on graph attention and a multimodal AI interview method. Using a dual-perspective graph neural network approach, we accomplish the screening of candidates and positions. In the second stage, we conduct a comprehensive evaluation of candidates’ interview performance based on text, audio, and image modalities, providing a more objective, consistent, and efficient interview assessment method. Experimental results demonstrate that our person-job matching method surpasses current popular techniques and effectively transfers features to the next stage. In our multimodal AI interview method, we achieve accurate scoring of candidate responses, assessment of intonation stress levels, and inference of their Big Five personality traits, comprehensively evaluating candidates from multiple perspectives.
