A traffic sign recognition model based on deformable convolution is proposed to address the low accuracy of existing traffic sign recognition algorithms for small and occluded targets. Firstly, replace some convolutions in the backbone network with deformable convolutions to adapt to different shape feature maps during feature extraction and improve the network's sensitivity to small targets;Secondly, in order to reduce the loss of information in the process of upsampling, the original Nearest-neighbor interpolation upsampling module is replaced by the sub-pixel convolution module in the feature fusion network to reduce the loss of information due to upsampling. Finally, design experiments on the TT100K dataset and test the advantages of this model in real-world scenarios. The experimental results show that the average accuracy of this model (mAP@0.5) It has reached 92.54%, with a Recall rate of 87.42%, which is 2.18% and 1.58% higher than the benchmark network YOLOv5n, respectively. The frame processing speed has reached 96.06. © 2023 IEEE.

Although the containers are featured by light-weightness, it is still resource-consuming to pull and startup a large container image, especially in relatively resource-constrained edge cloud. Fortunately, Docker, as the most widely used container, provides a unique layered architecture that allows the same layer to be shared between microservices so as to lower the deployment cost. Meanwhile, it is highly desirable to deploy dependent microservices of an application together to lower the operation cost. Therefore, the balancing of microservice deployment cost and the operation cost should be considered comprehensively to achieve minimal overall cost of an on-demand application. In this paper, we first formulate this problem into a Quadratic Integer Programming form (QIP) and prove it as a NP-hard problem. We further propose a Randomized Rounding-based Microservice Deployment and Layer Pulling (RR-MDLP) algorithm with low computation complexity and guaranteed approximation ratio. Through extensive experiments, we verify the high efficiency of our algorithm by the fact that it significantly outperforms existing state-of-the-art microservice deployment strategies. © 2023 IEEE.

Binary code analysis serves as the foundation for research in vulnerability discovery, software protection, and malicious code analysis. However, analyzing binary files is challenging due to the lack of high-level semantic information, leading to heavy dependence on analysts’ expertise and significantly impacting the efficiency of binary code analysis. Recent years has witnessed the blossom of machine learning models for binary analysis, but few researches address the problem of binary code datasets. In this paper, we review all the existing and available datasets, and make classification according to their application. We set up experiments to illustrate how dataset quality could affect the performance of machine learning models in binary function recognition. Based on the experimental evaluation, we present a discussion on the ground truth as well as quality evaluation problems for binary code datasets. © The Author(s), under exclusive license to Springer Nature Switzerland AG 2025.

In this note, we present the synthesis of secure-by-construction controllers that address safety and security properties simultaneously in cyber-physical systems. Our focus is on studying a specific security property called opacity, which characterizes the system's ability to maintain plausible deniability of its secret behavior in the presence of an intruder. These controllers are synthesized based on a concept of so-called (augmented) control barrier functions. We propose conditions that facilitate the construction of the desired (augmented) control barrier functions and their corresponding secure-by-construction controllers. To compute these functions, we propose an iterative scheme that leverages iterative sum-of-square programming techniques. This approach enables efficient computation of these functions, particularly for polynomial systems. Finally, we validate the effectiveness of our results through a case study of a vehicle. © 1963-2012 IEEE.

IT/OT convergence in the form of a Cyber-Physical system (CPS) presents an opportunity to apply recent Information Technology (IT) advancements to Operational Technology (OT). The IT/OT convergence introduces cyber security threats for OT. The OT communication protocols, for example, have limited or no security capabilities for securing data exchange beyond basic authentication. The RNG (Random Number Generator) function is crucial in PLC for producing the encryption keys or the initial seed for security algorithms. The software-based PRNG (Pseudo RNG) is the most common approach for RNG in OT, instead of hardware-based RNG. This study provides a systematic literature review of the most recent evidence in digital transformation to secure data exchange in smart factories, within OT, or across OT and IT settings. It does this by looking at the PRNG on PLC and identifying the most recent trends and best practices. The findings include up-to-date data on author countries' distribution, published journals, research trends, industries, and industry types. The findings also address whether data flow is encrypted or shared in plaintext to ensure secure data transfer between IT and legacy OT environments. This paper concludes that while there is known RNG implementation in the actual embedded system in ICS, there is no evidence in the literature for using RNG in ICS networks for PLC implementation to secure data transfer with encryption. © 2024 IEEE.

Facial recognition is used in biometric technology. Facial recognition is the process of using the face to recognize or verify a person's identity. It captures, analyses, and compares patterns based on a person's facial details. The task of authenticating or identifying human faces from multimedia photos is accomplished using facial recognition technology. Viola and Jones present a method capable of accurately and quickly detecting faces in images. This technology can be used to accurately detect the facial features. Face tracking technology provides better opportunities for security and surveillance. This increases the level of protection. For example, facial tracking software helps improve surveillance strategies and serves as a basis for identifying terrorists and criminals. National borders, casinos, museums, banks or prisons are other examples where this system can be used for security. This paper proposes a face detection and eye and smile recognition system with real time images, using the Haar Cascade classifier for face, eye and smile recognition. This trace is based on the jpeg/jpg file format and can be acquired from any type of camera. It works with almost all types of image formats. Its classifier will detect facial features. In this research paper a comparison is also analyzed between face and facial detection by a camera captured image and saved images. Analysis of both types of code is also being made in this research work. The document also gives the percentage of accuracy by comparing the results. Therefore, this work aims at face processing with eye and smile detection. In this article it first detects the face using a web camera and then the captured image is processed and, on the image, it detects the face, eyes and smile. © 2023 IEEE.

Lung cancer is a leading cause of global mortality *** detection of pulmonary tumors can significantly enhance the survival rate of ***,various computer-Aided Diagnostic(CAD)methods have been developed to enhance the detection of pulmonary nodules with high ***,the existing method-ologies cannot obtain a high level of specificity and *** present study introduces a novel model for Lung Cancer Segmentation and Classification(LCSC),which incorporates two improved architectures,namely the improved U-Net architecture and the improved AlexNet *** LCSC model comprises two distinct *** first stage involves the utilization of an improved U-Net architecture to segment candidate nodules extracted from the lung ***,an improved AlexNet architecture is employed to classify lung *** the first stage,the proposed model demonstrates a dice accuracy of 0.855,a precision of 0.933,and a recall of 0.789 for the segmentation of candidate *** suggested improved AlexNet architecture attains 97.06%accuracy,a true positive rate of 96.36%,a true negative rate of 97.77%,a positive predictive value of 97.74%,and a negative predictive value of 96.41%for classifying pulmonary cancer as either benign or *** proposed LCSC model is tested and evaluated employing the publically available dataset furnished by the Lung Image Database Consortium and Image Database Resource Initiative(LIDC-IDRI).This proposed technique exhibits remarkable performance compared to the existing methods by using various evaluation parameters.

Dementia is a neurological disorder that affects a person’s cognitive and social skills, leading to a decline in their overall mental functioning. Frontotemporal dementia (FTD) and Alzheimer’s disease (AD) are two common types of dementia. Frontotemporal dementia mostly affects the frontal and temporal lobes of the brain. These areas are responsible for executive functions, decision-making, language, behavior regulation, and personality traits. Alzheimer’s disease primarily damages the cerebral cortex, which is responsible for higher cognitive functions such as memory, language, and perception. The electroencephalogram (EEG) signal has many advantages in diagnosing these disorders, including low cost and high temporal resolution. This study compares AD and FTD patients with healthy subjects by extracting specific features from EEG signals. Two machine learning algorithms were used for the separation, Support Vector Machines (SVMs) and k-Nearest Neighbors (KNNs), and 10-Fold Cross-Validation was applied to validate the performance of this method and an accuracy of 91.2% (sd = 7.8) was achieved using the SVM classifier for diagnosing the disease and 71.1% (sd = 8.6) for classifying AD and FTD. © The Author(s), under exclusive license to Springer Nature Singapore Pte Ltd. 2024.

Recommender system (RS) has emanated as the most popular application of e-commerce websites. In the e-commerce business, collaborative filtering based RS systems suggest products to the customers and find the interesting things for the users which they may wish to purchase. The success rate of any recommendation system depends upon, information reliability as well as expression of daily life behavior in the consolidated format. The main task is to produce the best ranked list of ‘n-number’ of items for the user’s need. Due to the natural structure, Z-Numbers are more consistent to producing a recommendation list. To solve real life problem, Z-Numbers should be incorporated into decision-making models. However, Online shopping involved multicriteria group decision-making (MCGDM). Z-information persisting some difficulties with MCGDM. Therefore, to enhancing the ability of Z-numbers Complex Fuzzy Sets (CFSs), are employed. Besides this entropy, distance measure, and aggregation operator are combined to produced MCGDM based ranking of customer preference. © Grenze Scientific Society, 2023.

American Sign Language (ASL) recognition is an important way of enhancing deaf and hard-of-hearing individu-als' access to communication. In this present paper, we propose a multi-modal deep learning model with the incorporation of image-based, skeletal-based, and hybrid recognition methods in the attempt to foster enhanced ASL classification accuracy. Our method takes real-time video input and utilizes Convolutional Neural Networks (CNNs) for image-based recognition as well as Multi-Layer Perceptrons (MLPs) for skeletal feature extraction. MediaPipe Hands is used to identify 21 hand landmarks, which are further used as input for skeletal-based classification. The dataset, which is gathered from Kaggle, comprises 78,000 images of 26 ASL alphabets (A-Z), and each model is trained individually to achieve the best performance. An ensemble final model uses the most confident classification out of the three approaches to achieve maximum accuracy and reliability. The system is real-time with confidence-based filtering and TTS support for better usability. The experimental results show that the multi-modal fusion approach outperforms single-modality models with high accuracy even in the case of diverse lighting conditions and hand orientations. Future directions involve using the model for sentence-level ASL recognition with LSTMs and deployment with optimizations on mobile and edge devices using TensorFlow Lite.
